I'd go for a Honda Rebel 500, but you need to spend a bit more cash and get a custom seat, rack and panniers as the honda ones look terrible.
Plenty fast enough, okay on moderate dirt tracks, obviously not anything seriously off road.
Most parts are the same as CB500's so easy to get, and you get Honda reliability to start with...

Maintaining the dam and clearing the channels...
If there is a Thai word for maintenance, it doesn't get used much...
