statistically speaking, in a group of 20 random expats, you will have at least one or two very shady characters if not outright criminals?
i don't know what the odds are. just a guess.
I'd say much higher than that here in the 21c answer to Tortuga in it's hayday...

Let me explain. This website was founded for expats, as well as wives up men, who habe a problem or another relating to staying in Thailand. We spend a lot of time on browsing Facebook and the likes, because we're in need of banter, expressing our grievances, and the odd divorce specialist. It is not a place where you take pity on your fellow travellers, or offer money for projects or a ticket home to Europe.the public on here is savvy by choice and will not take any chit chat from nobody, rather talking abundantly about the latest mishaps if such and such
And your point is?

Members of my Thai family have received bills from our local community hospital after receiving treatment for injuries caused when they came off their moto's. They had neither riding licences nor insurance. Fortunately, no other road users were injured. I understand this is normal as National Heath Service's elsewhere will not provide 'free' treatment for road traffic injuries. This being what motor insurance is for.
The way it works is the hospital claim off the gov. insurence you have from taxing the motorbike for the first 20000 Bht of bills, social security or the 30 baht scheme pays for anything after that. If you have no tax you're liable for the first 20k of the hospital bill...

If it wasn't him, they'd have just set someone else to do it, so this odious character gets to do it again...

There is a French proverb that says « le ridicule ne tue pas » "The ridicule doesn't kill" which means, don't let the fear of ridicule stop you from doing what you want, or what you think is good !!
Sticks and stones may break my bones,

Is the British version, don't think that it made it to the "proverbs" list...

...humans are certainly the cruelest beasts of prey on planet earth. when they're not inventing the most terrible weapons to kill each other, they're using everything they can get their hands on - even their own hands - to kill.
Luckily, the vast majority of us worldwide, don't go around killing people, don't be so dramatic...
