Why give Mynmar a platform when their military government has make zero efforts to stop the violence and atrocities against their own people. Human right violations and repression are worsening 2 years since the coup. Giving them a stage is a succint endorsement of their actions. The caretaker government will have to take full responsibilty for the message they are sending to the world.

way of the world i'm afraid, and unfortunately often the most needy in society are adversely impacted; the elderly, the disabled, the poor. the uk has a similar problem but is taking steps to support the needy, thailand needs to recognise the problem and take appropriate action
Please tell me what steps the Tory government in the UK have taken to help the needy?

Why are the aurthorities so reluctant to engage in a positive manner with the Phuket taxi drivers, is their mafia so strong that the police cannot handle them??

I had to show a copy of my yearly lease for the last 3 years I was in Udon Thani. (2018-2021)
And they wanted it updated every year and were very picky about the dates being correct
For a retirement extension FWIW
As always different offices, different requirements
They were just being "difficult" to push you towards an agent I'd say...

There are a lot of businesses out there who will not like the new wage hike proposed.
What I can not get my head around is why it is so wrong for Pita to have inherited shares in a defunct media outlet, yet it is OK for the military to have TV and Radio stations. can the Military can explain that one??
They're the Military, they don't have to explain...

Buddhist behaviour towards and thinking about animals is not always positive.
The doctrine of karma implies that souls are reborn as animals because of past misdeeds. Being reborn as an animal is a serious spiritual setback.
Because non-human animals can't engage in conscious acts of self-improvement they can't improve their karmic status, and their souls must continue to be reborn as animals until their bad karma is exhausted. Only when they are reborn as human beings can they resume the quest for nirvana.
This bad karma, and the animal's inability to do much to improve it, led Buddhists in the past to think that non-human animals were inferior to human beings and so were entitled to fewer rights than human beings.
Early Buddhists (but not the Buddha himself) used the idea that animals were spiritually inferior as a justification for the exploitation and mistreatment of animals.
So, either Thais are "early Buddhists" or just refuse to consider the question then...

Most of which has already happened at school, long before they get conscripted, so I wouldn't bank on any great societal changes happening here because of abolishing it, which of course, is the right thing to do...

Big difference between 5,000 Baht++ (you don't state what 'much higher is') and 300,000 Baht for the girl with food poisoning.
I spent a whole day at Bumrungrad (possibly the most expensive hospital in Thailand) getting blood tests for about 40 conditions, ECG, stool and urine tests, ultra sound liver check, 30 minutes with a doctor and it was 14,000 Baht.
As I said before I did 3 days 2 nights at Camillian hospital following the bike crash, multiple Xray/MRI and meds - 55,000 Baht.
Maybe Samui is just ripping tourists off.
That hospital chain in Samui are well known for gouging tourists, they've also got all the ambulances paid off to bring them any farang victims, rather than take them to the gov. hospital, a total scam...

I had it hard time making it out. The taxi driver hit the tourists? I'll watch it again.
No he didn't, but you could see the heated argument, probably about a hugely inflated amount for a scratch or two, not justifying him being sucker punched but the Brits were just about to get mobbed by Thais, so I do get it, to a point.
I was just pointing out that it was a somewhat more complicated situation...

I read this as the tourists hit the parked taxi driver and then proceeded to assault the man. As in the taxi driver was just sitting there and not only got his car hit but then he was assaulted after demanding compensation. How are the tourists not 100% at fault?
Did you watch the vid?

Yep I came in visa exempt, used an agent & switched to O Visa, was easy and I went to agents straight away to get ball rolling (this was in Phuket)
Agents fees a few weeks ago in Patong were;
1. Own money 800K in your own Bank account - 35,000Baht (option I used) I live in Phuket I want my stamp in Phuket (see below)
2. They 'assist' with the 800K 39,000Baht (You have to open a Bangkok Bank account through them additional cost of 9500Baht - incl a years Insurance) how ever this method can not be done in Phuket so entails a trip to Pattaya (where you go in person to Immigration) as thats where the stamp will be given... so prob another 5 or 6K baht on top. Personally was not for me as Id like to do my own extensions going forwards
How much?????

Saw a long TV interview in English with her when I was in Thailand recently. Definitely good looking (so was Yingluck for that matter lol) but intellectually unimpressive. Thaksin et al will be back seat drivers for sure.
Top Silpa-Archa was also interviewed and came across a lot better imo. Excellent command of English language due to overseas education in UK and US.
The trouble is, they come back from the elitist schools in the US or Europe hating Farangs because they were bullied unmercifully at those schools...
