We all have paid for gasoline when appropriate, i tend to fold the notes in my hand and pass with a handshake regardless of observation, ...and i choose to run my family to airports as they do with me... this is not stealing jobs.  ..and ... recently my Thai Wife was given a lift to the bus-station in a family members car...same rules apply

ummm this feels a bit weird as i haven t thought much about what other aged humans think about death... I am 72 this july, i have smoked and drunk alcohol all my life and yes of course enjoyed recreational substances when i was younger, had to stop around early 60 s as my lungs could be better. I last stayed overnight in a hospital when i was 18 awaiting plastic surgery for a broken nose. Rarely ill since i have lived in Asia for the past 13 years, ... I have experienced younger friends dying ,...am i lucky, ?  is it a consideration ? No... i think life is about waking up each morning and doing something enjoyable, yes get some exercise, sitting here banging this out is after 5 hours part time work i manage 6 days a week ( now being offered that job was lucky ).... I dont think good health is lucky, it is what it is, probably suffering a serious and life threatening disease is unlucky. Yes of course i occasionally think of death especially as i feel my body and stamina fading, i would like to think i would have the conviction and energy to stop my own life were i to be diagnosed with a grueling death...  The Long Swim....  perhaps a Valhalla Exit would suit me...   I live on a tropical island with just enough cash to live, i feel i have done it all with  reasonable  results... maybe i will not wake tomorrow morning ....It is what it is...

aww  come on... but who has told this lady that there are maids etc...  is there a thai word for maid... Most of the Issan ladies that i have met are hard working and expect to clean their house because its what they want.. I am a resort manager and will not tell you that i work in a veritable Idyl... i get to look at the sea most of the day, i walk in incredible gardens and talk to relaxed people....   I dont want any more customers at our resort. !!  Self catering, it is a magnet for european families on My tropical Island . :)

There will be no limit on the number of entries. The latest news is that it the new rules will only be for those that just leave and return to get a new entry. You will not be effected by the new rules.

Again, what should be the period one must remain outside Thailand before he is considered "just leave and return" ?

If you have had 3 x Back 2 Back Tourist Visas. (9 months to include ext.s ).then you must remain out of the country for 3 months...

Not quite off topic but.................... there is no mention of Overstay penalties being applied retrospectively..... i am concerned that any Overstay stamps in a passport together with many B 2 B visas over a period of years, would influence any IO, even though a good period of time ( over 9 months ) has been spent out of the country since;. He could still feel it necessary to deny entry and initiate a ban from the country according to the new rules on overstay penalties .... i dont suppose i will know until after the aug 12 date, or rather when somebody tries to re-enter = being me ... i have considered a passport renewal, this could work if the overstays are not registered against my name in the computer...... when i left with O Stay stamp..i did enquire about possibilities of refusal of re-entry and was told no problem.... haha But now..????

I need to consider if it would still feel like paradise if you have worrying about serious re entry hassles every 3 months....

No early nights at Koh Samui. Business as usual until the mornings . All bars etc stay open until sunrise.

Not sure where you are talking about on Samui.... i have been reliably informed that Lamai Beach resorts and bars are all closed at 10.pm........

and last night electricity cuts had many bars just giving up at 8.pm... again in Lamai...

I can't see this being enforced in Samui or Phuket.
