  1. no this is too stupid to be real...... the girl must have been aware that she was due to pay 3 days overstay fine...and as she was travellin alone (. ?. ).she whould have been ultra carefull... swiss travellers are not usually vagrants, and would probably be carrying her own better camera... and the officer's camera was just within pickupandputinmybagbecauseno-one is looking distance...yeah right..i will not speculate other than to say that she may have felt she had to plead guilty after being under sever duress, or she is a complete Moron..

  2. and why people choose Ronnies demise to bite the land that feeds them is beyond me, ok if one can not return to a homeland that was presumable escaped from, is a sadness; but to allow cynicism to poisen a dream is silly, i hear a man who has earned money teaching a backward nation complain about their illiteracy... ( errrr .. ??? ) and in 6 years he did not realise that the climate was hot and humid and the roads dangerous and education inadequate despite having a Thai wife and family..... well i have been here for 6 years too, and i too have felt a change, such that i am considering relocating before cynicism becomes an unwanted bed-fellow. perfection can only be an opinion, it is how we interact with life in whichever country we choose to live in that is important.... and a pauper will always want the money in your pocket....

  3. Indeed a very sad case..... and no one can imagin why a man in some prime , with some affluence eg 150 quids in bin, driving a motor on an island paradise, should want to end his life... silly speculation as usual from bored knowitalls..... what a climax to this poor mans life... an obitury conjured up by Tvisa jokers.....shame on you ... shut up ... including Me... rip.

  4. I feel that this is a very poor article......its the first time in the 6 years i have been in thailand that this 'news or warning' has appeared; ..here on K Samui there is always a well mannered party on the beach. Teens tend to over drink everywhere, taking advantage of girls who drink too much is not just a thai thing.... so its probably down to poor translation, or just a filler.... Surveys depend on what questions are asked to whom......and the answer from most young men to the question ... "..do you think young women are more likely to agree to sex when they have had a few drinks.? "..... will always be Yes !....so the 'warning 'is just a reminder about any party time.......My thai g/f confirms... no worse than any other time

  5. in my 6 years of observation and interaction with Thai dogs and packs...i find during daylight hours them to be wimpish, fairly scared and easier to control , especially saying Bi Lao once or twice fairly loudly... throwing small plastic cups previously filled with loose soil at dogs that want to shit on my lawn works well and quite satisfying if you manage a direct hit.... have even heard them squeel when said flung missile Misses them by yards.... all dogs are territorial especially with other dogs/cats, so one has to act in similar manner when they come around your neck of the woods....try never to show fear...../ However when the Cherry has dropped below the horizon.... Thai dogs then come into their own...they will strut the streets, walking across busy roads with impunity and acting in control of everything and also more difficult to see... a firm loud voice speaking thai still works but better to keep a distance....i think that perhaps this german guy was completing his.. 'training of his Rott.'.. the how to dispatch when attacked, so now he will need to equip his Rott. with a kitchen knife.

I consider myself a dog lover.. but never use tongues...

  6. it can be hard for very worn at the edges much older men.......( esp. with mr V ). young men could get heartbroken ( disillusioned enough to be overly dramatic and torture the body )........better to have loved and lost . than never to have loved at tall long legged beauty.... who XXXXX off when all the cash has been spent on her...tears in paradise...again...

  7. maybe i am missing something .... maybe the translation ?..... but so these bars will close at 02.00 in protest at being asked to close at 02.00.... ummm ok.....

I live in Lamai. where there are 2 x 'night clubs' which seem to open till whenever they like, prob past 05.00.. i am usually in bed by then or should be..

    .

02.00 works for me...if i want more there is always a bar open somewhere, but better to return home with friends via a 7/11 and buy much less expensive booze.

Do tourists actually come here because night clubs are open all night..... no they are well pissed by then on this stronger alcohol.......the young men want the 3 x S 's... the booze just makes them limp... ( well it does me .;) )

  8. This is a chronic social problem with no easy answer. Not LBs but LB thieves. Apparently the authorities think they are OK during LOW season though! blink.png

OK, there IS something Thai society can do for the long term but it would take decades to see the results. Enact strong anti-discrimination laws for employment so that young trans people will know they are welcome to pursue any and all professions. With careful and strict psychological screening, have the government pay for sex change procedures of young adults as many are attracted to crime to pay for these procedures. Most are limited to a very few professions these days due to social stigma, and some of these are very illegal. Also of course the government should change it's policy which prevents trans people from changing the sex on their ID cards. Yes these are liberal ideas. You've got better ideas?

But in the short term for existing thieves? Prison I suppose if you can catch them.

    What an excellent suggestion.

Some years ago on Channel 4 there was a documentary in three parts. It resulted in a book called "Why Men Don't Iron"

It explains the processes that take place as the fetus is in the womb and if these processes are disrupted for reasons of say illness or stress in the mother, then the development of the brain may not match the body.

There could be a female brain in a male body and vice versa, and of course shades of differences in between.

This needs to be understood and accepted and the individuals should not be castigated but helped.

Who says what is normal (acceptable) and what is not?

I think you have proposed something very sensible and helpful.

It might be better if more posters tried to offer solutions rather than sticking to the stereotypes and tarring them all with the same 'Guilty' brush.

Well you have swallowed the dummy re a tv doc.... ...perhaps you have truncated or misunderstood what the doc tried to say ( in 3 parts )...are you actually suggesting that homosexuality develops because Mum had a debt demand she couldn t pay.? or she or her parent was very sick ?...do you think that there is a sexuality in brains.?.or.. Its always Mums fault.! ?

My education has told me that all feotuses start as female and its hormones ( prob testosterone or low estrogen ) that decides the sex at around 6 weeks.... also all ? ( most males ) grow through stages of hormonal change, when sexuality with other males feels normal and arousing...puberty is a decider..some males have a lower flood of testoserone than others...does this make them effiminate ..maybe...i like to suggest that asian men are hormonally challenged...think about it.......some make prettier girls than girls do

  9. 75 and still demanding more !!... phew.. well he may stay ahead of his diabetes and maybe avoid a few other deteriorations.....but doubt the mental processes will be preserved and from this story , i suspect that he is already losing that. We are only here to procreate and after that , well, mark time creating a social network for same. Sounds like he has a a full enough life, perhaps nows a good time to reflect and shuffle off quietly, redistributing his wealth as necessary to more deserving cases.

Perhaps he can be sold on Cryogenics or simple embalming.......wisdom is something he has not been able to accrue.

  10. i just can not believe they spent 200m bht ( err 4m euro ) to develop anti porn software.... which already exisits in most windows platforms = parental control ( nanny button)....... i suspect the whole shipment of tablets would not have cost that figure....common plueese...perhaps the kids will believe them, no one else will

  11. a new network of ground control-point stakes, used as references to measure the mean sea level to help with flood prevention, would have to be built because they are either damaged or worn out. He said this could cost as much as Bt100 million, because there are at least 1,000 stakes in Bangkok alone

Did he keep a straight face. Its a painted concrete stick right?

A stick as reference to measure mean sea level in Bangkok ? Either something got lost in translation or I really need to buy a boat.

I can imagine setting up reference points with an exact known position and use GPS or the like to record possible movements. Such would also allow for relating to mean sea level.

With labour costs at 300 Baht/day or more I can understand that positioning a single concrete pillar may well cost THB 100,000 rolleyes.gif

You may know more about this than me, but that seems a tad pricy to me. i put an extra concrete pole up for new electric line, grand cost 8 k and i was probably ripped off. Now precision costs, but paint, gps, concrete fitting. Its shouldn't hopefully even be a very long pole.

Bangkok is only 1m above Sea level.

    But wait, there's more........................

"The Science and Technology Ministry's project to reinstall stakes, initially in Bangkok, will also allow untrained members of the public to read mean sea levels themselves, and this might lead to misunderstanding, he added."

so this guy doesn't want any stakes because then untrained members of the public will obviously panic because they can't possibly understand the measurement.

Do you actually need lines painted on a pole to Know that you are swimming and maybe drowning or its time to switch on the pump....are not trip switches employed when water levels are too high and automated pumps start......?? and why build a capital city in a place that floods every year without building adequate flood defenses or maintaining them.... ??..and why do companies build factories in cities that flood badly and they lose production.... and why do idiots rant and rave here.??

  12. perhaps they could evacuate and relocate Bangkok !.... dam up watercourses and flood channels as necessary and create a huge reservoir...this could serve as a great flood prevention to the rest of the country and would be an extra tourist attraction, ..sailing..waterskiing, fishing.... and an extra saving of the costs of millions of sandbags.

Even K Canute knew the score.....( yes..i dont live there )...wink.png

  13. Incredibly hard to believe that gov. policy is being made 'ad hoc' according to a weather forecast.... errr lets start dredging the sewers there is a black cloud in the sky......sorry if we have flooded you, we have to run off as we want to prevent flooding.... and did i read that they are ' seeding clouds' in Udon T, because the reservoirs are only Half full ??.....Monsoons are an annual season...will be here next year as well... and because they are, Thailand and Asia generally are able to grow their greatest staple and Export.... Rice..................... ok there maybe more rain now with global warming, but it has been raining here for many thousands of years, surely infrastructure should be in place and maintained by now !! or was letting some of the populace drown every year ,acceptable collateral damage, (before international news coverage )

  14. i have lived on Samui for over 6 years and very rarely see trouble and feel quite safe even if i am out late, of course there have been fatalities as there are in other countries and are reported for their rarity;

Whereas i did not feel safe leaving a cinema with my family at 9.pm in the UK due to groups of noisey drunken yobs wandering from bar to bar.....sadly some of the same ilke can bring bad behaviour to tropical paradises, which this island still is despite the commercial cynicsm........it is not exactly known how the unfortunate german man died... R.I.P

  15. I strongly urge compassionate BMs with accomodation in View Talay from 2nd floor and up to come forward and offer flood relief. Promt action now means that many, many Brothers can drink the flood away without ever noticing that there was a flood. a Flood line may be set up to FLB, QT or even Insomnia with boat service to keep up business as usual. Maybe 3-some up to 10-some becomes a social together with a compassionate conotation where a whole new level of bonding can be felt.

There may even come a new type of fatherhood out of it, instead of being a grand - father you are a "flood farther", i.e a girls got preganant during the flood, no one know for sure who is the father so you all take joint responsability reducing the cost of sponsorship to a fraction of what it is today. There are all sorts of socilological, practical ramifications.

    stop drinking the floodwater...now...

  16. I think I like most of the replies and it shows that a lot of the falangs living hear, can see the funny side in this story, even if is probably a bad situation, if your house is now surrounded by water. As far as I know, everybody should avoid flood water and not only drunken people. It is about time that the Thai Government does something about the flood situation. There are many experts in Europe, especially in The Netherlands, a country that has many areas below sealevel and you don't hear about flooding over there, and I am not from The Netherland or looking for a job. So they must do something right and the Thai Government should contact them and ask for their advise, but maybe that means they are loosing face, and that would be terrible, to ask somebody, when you don't have an answer to a problem. We all know Thailand and the Thais and still, we all love it here, why would we stay here otherwise.

obviosly they cant.... Holland would be Sea if some boy wasnt imaginative with his finger.....Thailand are Big rice growers = needs water.. Thailand FLOODS....always has always will and a Canute government is Not going to change things . :)

  17. Also....( you had hoped i had finished )........ Tea and Coffee drunk in large quantities also deemed self harmful..as is Hemlock and Deadly nightshade ( there is no lively nightshade)...and sharp knives.....razor blades as eaten by stupid wannabe's ( include swords ).....the list of not to do s is endless, as we educate our children. Do we need to be told to be careful...if so you have lost! ( or deaf and blind )

  18. The doctor should instead recommend abstinence from alcohol as it is one of the most harmful recreational drugs. Here are results of two separate studies to back this up:

....... this is very misleading...without getting too pedantic.... charts like this are used when it 'shows' your case....for instance alcohol ( as obvious ) scores top in first chart,........ but as 'not classified '' does not in the second....... whereas.. Alcohol TOP Nicotine Second.... the REST Third and Nowhere, is a much truer interpretation...... Also how does anyone measure self harm, and in a comparison with other similar drugs......what criteria is used to establish Lsd and Ecstacy as self harming ( other than an idiot falling out of a window ) and amphetimine is very widely used but is not classified. But is present in many drugs that are classified....... However... 'Floodwater' does not get a mention on any chart i have seen...is this a Thai secret from the world..... apols for jesting when other people are in trouble ......
