  1. When they use Camry, has it been converted to LPG ?

If it has been converted then there would not be space for more than 1 suit case?

If it has not been converted then I am sure they will not be able to offer those prices and stay in business long.

I would guess gasoline for 1 way airport would be around 400 / 500 baht. Take out booking commission and not much left.

As far as Ii know Meow uses Camry LPG and her boot fits plenty of cases - last time 2 of us 2 cases and 2 hand luggage

Why is it everyone keeps saying she will not be in business long - she is in business and will continue to do so - mainly because she does not follow Thai logic

    Try her and then comment

  2. Meow told me she has an Innova at her disposal - apparently its a 7 seater - so right size for 3 people and cases

    Price:

1300 all in - BKK -PTY

    1200 all in PTY -BKK

  3. I tried service from meow today after reading great reviews and getting personal recommendation. Disappointed. She must have been busy. Sent someone else. Arrived for pickup late and stopped for fuel. Then asked me for directions to our destination. Not prepared at all.

I have emailed Meow about this and here is her response:

I always tell everyone please put Gas before pick up customer. I will fix its.
And some driver leave (probably means live) in Bangkok maybe don't know the way where to go. Anyway I tell them call me if have problem but just some who call me!
Can you give me his e mail?
    Thank you again

I will leave it to you to contact her - understandably she is angry and embarassed - at least she wants to address the problem..

At those prices she's soon going to outdo her ability to offer a quality service. As she is finding out, she's not in control of contract drivers and they will give her a bad name. To keep her prices low she cannot offer enough to get the necessary good contract drivers with nice cars.

Lucky for her she has you to help her out.

To be fair - there is another thread on another forum - and the complaints have been minimal - so I would say 95% satisfaction - unlike most Thais she does not put her prices up when things are tough - and the complaint made has been made many times over with Mr T. and other such service providers

I only ever use Meows services if SHE is driving - only once has she sent another guy as she was sick - she sent an email to explain and called when she knew I would be off the plane - the guy was driving a Camry and the service was fine

Her unique selling point above the others is the level of car - otherwise up or down they are all the same - some stop for gas. others do not, some drive carefully, others weave in and out of the other cars, some talk on the phone, others do not - its all a bit of a lottery....

  4. i guessed i missed something

who is meow and what service and price does she provide

Same service and prices as Mr T (1000 and 900) - but uses a Camry - drives very smoothly and genuinely a nice person

I always advise people to ask for Meow personally and stipulate no petrol stops and Camry only - thanks for the feedback - she would be mortified to hear this

  7. "I'm trying to find info on the new building going up next to VT6. Looks like it will block the sea view side of VT6."

Did anyone really imagine that the units on that side of VT6 would keep their view forever? I discounted that building after seeing it for the first time.

I suppose it isn't written in stone that whatever gets built on the empty plot has to be a high-rise, but it seems more than likely.

Maybe this topic should be in the Pattaya forum rather than Real Estate?

There was always hope that the new building might be a low rise night market or something. I just saw the plans and looks loke the new building will be a total eclipse.

Can we have sight of the same?

  8. I asked on another forum and this was the response - the poster agreed I could share it here:

This is the area, approximatively 24,000 square meters (about 80m x 300m).

Ok so, thanks socrates for opening this topic, here are some of the informations i got previously on my side because i guess we were many to wonder what would be exactly the real estate project planned to be built next to VT6 :

It confirms first rumors i got a few weeks ago from people working in some agencies downstairs inside VT6 (Honey and Jasmina, to name them) about a real estate project which should start to be built next year. They also told me about a two levels project, lower height on Beach Road side (like 13-15 floors) and higher level on Second Road side (28 floors). That name 'Kantary' also popped up in the conversation but no one was able to spell it properly so i could not get further informations.

Now with the proper spelling i could start to search the web and guess what ? I have found this recent pdf where President of Kantary Hotels company is writing, i quote :

"For example, in Pattaya we plan to build a Cape Collection and Kantary Collection hotel on 24,000 square meters of land at the cost of around 3.5 billion baht. The Cape Collection hotel - our luxury brand - will have 70 rooms; the Kantary Collection hotel – geared towards long and short stay guests – will contain 250 rooms. All of the quality facilities and features of our hotels will be present at these two Pattaya properties; our Cape Collection hotel will feature the most opulent beachside bar in all of Pattaya,” said Navanukroh. "

It fits with the previous informations and 24,000 square meters seems approximatively the size of the empty land next to VT6 on Walk

  9. Maybe he could get a little more definitive results from the world expert analysts compared to the local staff who have neither the depth of training, experience or equipment. It bemuses me that Thais do not understand how far they are behind the world scientifically.

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

Does it also bemuse you that Thailand has a university in the top 50 for pharmacology and social science (that's the top 0.2% in the world), top 100 for medicine, life science, bio-medicine and chemical engineering and top 150 for chemistry and earth science? That is out of all the 22,000 universities in the world. Do you have a degree from a world class university?

If they are so advanced why are they not in the forefront of inventions and discoveries because I have not noted many local Thai's trailblazing - have you?

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

Good point...How many Thais have won a Nobel Prize?

and I'm just putting this out there....

can anyone name ONE major contribution to the advancement of civilization/medicine/technology that has been pioneered by the Thai people? It's a question, if there is one, I'd love to know.....

Also, before coming to Thailand, I had never heard of any Thai universities being recognized as top tier...maybe in the region of Southeast Asia, but certainly not on a global scale

I think you will find with a bit of research that the King is responsible for several inventions to do with helping it rain during droughts ....

  10. I just noticed you amended your post - I stand corrected if she is quoting 100 baht extra for Bangkok - although she charged me 1000 - that may be because I have used her and recommended her so highly

I like the fact that you said you will try her - you will not be disappointed ...

  11. For a trip with a sensible driver, reclining seats and from central BKK ....

I was happy enuf ....I booked him back

Not new but in good nick ....

    Just a quickie,

I used Jack and his CRV (quite a few years old CRV but in good condition and seats recline),

    Bangkok to Pattaya and back.

On time both times, 1300thb each way. Nice guy, can recommend.

    Regards

    SB

The guy must be laughing at you - 1300 in an old car - for what?

Which is a very good price. I think BBK central is now 1500 baht.

The car is not old and it is very well maintained. Instead of making snide remarks you could try to add some useful recommendations. i.e. a very good and reliable driver with a new car doing BKK central - Pattaya runs for under 1300.

BTW, he's 1200 to the airport.

I did give a recommendation if you bothered to read the thread properly:

Here it is again - NOTE its a Camry not an OLD car and she is 1000 for either Airport or Bangkok itself:

    [email protected]

    0859 344 475

Camry - 1000 baht each way

Very reliable, smooth drive, no weaving and no stopping for gas

She also has a minibus available

  13. The Pattaya condo market is built on cleaning up Kazakhstan oil money

In turn it is being invested in by Chinese/Thai money - its a cleaning up process for both parties

The market is just about sustainable because the red tape in Thailand is minimal compared to the West and the recent currency fluctuations have kept the crash at bay

Would I buy a condo - yes - but only if it was some kind of repossession and at a bargain basement price and even then I would have to think long and hard

Personally I prefer to live off the proceeds of my UK properties and pay as you go in Thailand

  14. Pattaya gogos have always been subject to police raids, for licensing irregularities, underage or undocumented workers. Nothing unusual and completely un-coup related.

Yet Lucifers one of the largest clubs was able to operate for a year without renewing their licence

Unrelated to the amount they pay?

Club and bar owners have been warned by the military (not the police) 30 day closures for various misdemeanours - no tea money accepted

  15. Australia's ANZ has been granted permission to operate a subsidiary in Thailand. It comes as the troubled state tries to curb an investor exodus.

Thailand's ongoing political turmoil has led to increasing uncertainty about business prospects there.

The approval paves the way for the Australian lender to gain a full banking licence in the future........

  16. How do the Spurs fans feel about Ground Sharing with West Ham (for maybe one season) whilst their stadium is being finished?

Do you honestly believe thats ever going to happen?!!

Have you read the minutes from the latest meeting between the Spurs Supporters Trust and the Spurs Board?

You will be ground sharing - period! - where exactly do you expect you will be going

Especially after Spurs made all that fuss about the Olympic Stadium in the first place and wanting to go there

Or perhaps ground share with Orient - or even Arsenal

Ofcourse we will be ground sharing. You can't play in rubble can you.

Why would you think that our interest in the olympic stadium has relevance to a ground share with West Ham? We wanted the stadium for us because we would fill it. there would also be significant security issues with a WHU/Spurs ground share.

West Ham and Spurs are 10 and 11 in terms of average attendance for last season - first column is total - second is the average

What are the security issues you speak of?

    10 Tottenham Hotspur 680,360 35,808 11 West Ham United 649,741 34,196
