  1. Not sure if The Loaf has been mentioned - Soi Lengkee just near to intersection with Buakhao

It used to do great Pizzas - I was there in October and they possibly have a new chef and the base is now paper thin

Their buffet night is by far the best value Pizza in town anywhere - as much as you can eat for 285 baht and they keep the hot pizzas coming

  2. I met Sherwood about 10 years ago in a club in the West End - I told him my nephew was a massive Spurs fan

He went to the coach they were on got a programme and went back inside the club and got all the players that were there to sign it - I was very impressed

What did not impress me was that he was a smoker

  3. how long has levy been there now? because at some point when you're getting through all these managers you have to start questioning the people who are choosing and appointing them.

His uncle will never sack him - Jewish people always stick together

  4. My main question is can I add data to the Sim I currently own

Based on what little detail you've provided I am guessing that you have a TrueMove SIM.

TrueMove currently only offers low-speed GSM data (AKA: 2G: GPRS/EDGE). So yes, you could layer a mobile data plan onto your existing TrueMove SIM, after you exchange it for a micro-SIM.

TrueMove's GSM 1800 concession was due to expire on 15 Sep. 2013, but was given a 1 year extension.

I am assuming that you want high speed, 3G, mobile data? If so, you'll have to change from TrueMove to TrueMove H, retaining your number/account. Simultaneously you will exchange your old Mini-SIM for a new micro-SIM, TrueMove H will link you existing number to your new Micro-SIM. Then maybe add value, now, finally, you can subscribe to a bundled voice/text/data plan, or subscribe to a la carte voice, text and data plans.

You may have to do all of this True Shop.

Note that your validity/expiration may default to a rolling 60 day maximum; so no more 1 year cumulative expirations.

    That is perfect

So basically I can do all of this in the Airport on arrival - good news

    Thanks guys!!

  5. Do you have TrueMove, or TrueMove H?

How much data do you require? Voice? Texts?

You should be able to exchange your mini-SIM for a micro-SIM at any True shop, including the airport. You will keep your same number.

TrueMove H have a dizzying array of plans, both bundles and a la carte, where you build your own.

    http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/3g/packages/ismart/entry/594

Net-net, you can pretty much get whatever you require.

Maybe just have a read through the TrueMove H web-site, then follow-up with details re: your requirements, or questions.

Will look through thanks for the link

I am sure I just have TrueMove - I will check on my Sim and KBank link that I pay it with

  6. Next trip I intend to bring my now unlocked S3 with me

However I have an existing normal sized Thai Sim on True - Pay as You Go

Can I keep the same number and upgrade to a one month option that includes a data package?

Furthermore which is the best one month data deal (with minutes and texts also)?

And how do I overcome the Sim size issue - at the moment I have the normal sized one?

I need to keep the same number as I have cards printed with that number on it

Can this all be done at the True Stand at the airport or is Tuk Com a better option - or is there a True Shop in Pattaya?

    Thanks in anticipation...

  7. Excuses, excuses......

You got served - well and truly

But in fairness I think it was a good kick up the backside - Spurs (and mostly their fans) were starting to believe their own hype

As for West Ham - we have massive problems - and Andy Carroll coming back is not the solution but at least Sam showed he has some technical nous (for a change)

  8. It may be that Bangkok Bank (which is where I'm sending the money to) would be the correspondent bank.

I keep all the records of the transfers from my Halifax account, and there's only ever the one charge shown.

BB do their usual sliding scale between ฿300-฿500 but it's difficult to work out exactly what they charge due to the fluctuations in the exchange rate.

However, there has never been any notification of an additional £9.50 from the Halifax. I've just looked at the last few records of my most recent transfers.

AFAIK it goes from Halifax to Bangkok Bank (in Bangkok) and then on to my account (also with Bangkok Bank) in Chiang Rai.

Sent on a Wednesday morning, always arrives on Friday evening (UK time). Once, and only once, it arrived in an hour and a half!

And that explains exactly why you have no charge as BB is indeed the correspondent bank

But as you can imagine for MOST of us it is not easy (but not impossible) to get a BB Bank Account without a permanent address

So for those that do not bank with them and send money to Thailand via Halifax (online) @ £9.50 then there will be another £9.50 charge levied in between

  9. Halifax online transfer is £9.50 for amounts up to £50,000

    And £9.50 intermediary bank charges

Just the one £9.50 charge whenever I do that (every 4 weeks for the last 3 years).

Perhaps the intermediary bank has the same correspondent bank (intermediary bank) as the receiving bank - perhaps because you are just looking at the final amount you do not see the other charge (if its a different correspondent bank)

When you send with Halifax they send you a confirmation which shows the other charge - check it next time

    Taken from Halifax Website:

The transferred money will reach the country you’re sending it to within two working
days. The funds will often have to go through two banks in that country, including:
The beneficiary bank – this holds the account you’re sending the money to
The correspondent bank – this is a receiving bank in the same country that is
    involved in processing the transaction.
First, the money goes to the correspondent bank. Once there, it is subject to local
banking practices and any differences in time zones.
The money is then sent on to the beneficiary bank. How quickly this happens depends
on a few factors such as the day and time it arrives at the correspondent bank.

  10. Halifax online transfer is £9.50 for amounts up to £50,000

    And £9.50 intermediary bank charges

My Kasikorn Bank charges 300-500 baht yes but Halifax,s £9.50 is the lowest UK Bank transfer charge as far as I am aware- ALL Thai bank,s add a fee on top.

There is ANOTHER £9.50 charge in between by the INTERMEDIARY BANK the Thai Bank is the RECEIVING bank

So its £9.50 + another £9.50 plus 300-500 baht in Thailand

    Just reminding everyone
