Can anyone shed some light on how the tax system works for partners on a Non O.
My wife and I are from the UK and been here 15 years, Im always connected to her work permit with a non o visa. Obviously I dont work in Thailand and all my business is in the States.
The wife earns 70k a month and gets Taxed 6000 baht, this has gone on for over 2 years. her employer says "That I" get Taxed too just the same as my wife, even though I dont work.
Is this correct? seems odd that I would pay tax on her wages when I dont do any work here.
Thanks

Tubby Re your last post
Post 4 highlighted the fact that the Embassy do not/will not sign such documents.
If you have the original deed poll the Embassy may allow you to swear an affidavit to the effect that the document is genuine.
"This service is for people who need to swear an oath, make an affirmation or make an affidavit in front of a consular officer.
The Embassy will not draft documents for you. If unsure check with the Embassy by emailing ([email protected]) before having the document drawn up or check with a professional."Read down the page until you reach the heading "Administer an oath, affirmation or affidavit"many thx, Im still waiting for their reply. will post how I get on
thx again :0)

Type up the following document exactly. Make it fit on one page with a decent gap at the bottom. It is 99% a deed poll so you can copy and paste. Change the relevant words to suit yourself. You finish with the words, "BEFORE ME". The Consul or Vice-Consul will add everything below that.
What you have just made is not a deed poll, but an affirmation that you will change your name. Make an appointment at the Embassy and complete the affirmation. The Consul will possibly seek an explanation from you, but just explain you have previously changed your name by deed poll in the UK and now you have to take care of the Thai side of things.
Do not sign the form until requested to do so by the Consul.
When this process is complete take the Affirmation to a translator. Get them to translate the document and arrange certification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You will need both your names transcribed into Thai.
When that is done you will have a document that Government agencies will accept.
you sir are a star. this is just what I needed to see. Im on it from tomorrow. Will have to fly to BKK as I live in Krabi. But this is great thank you very much for taking the time to show me this.
First thing you need to do is book an appointment here:
The first free slot I see is Wednesday 30th March.
Im still waiting for a response from the UK embassy, but I jusr read this on the website and it says they dont whitness deed poles, is this different from what is being said here. or is this the nail in the coffin
Witness a signatureThis service is for customers who need to sign a document and have their signature witnessed by a consular officer. The document must be prepared before your appointment. We do not handle wills or probate, or witness deed polls, or Powers of Attorney.

one foolish moment, a lifetime of pain.
would it be a spouse visa or a dependant extension following a non imm'o' visa
Oh you have no idea how stupid I feel for doing it. Its cost me so many problems......kids dont change your name and move abroad! Its just a spouse visa I believe
You can try applying for a "spouse visa" but with an English wife it is extremely unlikely that one will be issued.
Hi, we a have all the paperwork and others have a spouse visa. they are issued to people partners who work in Thailand. we have been to immigration and there is no problems so not sure why you say this. This is not the issue here

Hi ok thanks, The Embassy said they wont authenticate it. I will ask again as they too give a million answers to a single question.
They cannot authenticate it. That can only be done in the UK. You will be doing a self certification by doing a statement. That is often done for marriage certificates to satisfy immigration's requirements.
The translation would help immigration understand what the deed pole is.
Oh Ok, this sounds promising. many thanks for your advise

I'll be the first to say it, it's actually called a Deed Poll
hi many thanks for your constructive comment, this is more than likely why Im having the problems I am. I will check all spelling and try again. What would we do without brainy people like you!!
many thanks clever clogs

Passport inquiries are dealt with by HM Passport office as I am sure you have been told.
https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-passport-office
New passports are not issued by the Embassy
https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-bangkok
I have no idea as to whether you can legally change your name again whilst outside of the UK but the Embassy might agree to allow you to swear an affidavit as to the genuineness of the "Deed Pole" but they will not authenticate such document.
Is a "spouse visa" available to a person not married to a Thai ? Or are you attempting to obtain something else ?
Yup thats all I get told over and over. Ive emailed the Embassy again to see if they can do it
yes you can get a spouse visa for a foreigner in Thailand
Thx

hello,
I come to ask if anyone could shed light on my situation as the UK embassy are a bunch of useless individuals that just dont give a &^%
I got married to my English wife in 2006, a few months later we returned back to the UK. Now, without going into details, I changed my name using deed pole, nothing sinister, more a drunk moment with friends. Anyways, I kept the name and changed my passport to the new details.
We have been back in Thailand now for 3 years, my wife is teacher here and has a work permit. I need to get a spouse visa. here is the problem
Now my new name does not match my marriage certificate. Ive been to immigration and ask questions and received so many different answers such as go to Penang with my Deed Pole, go to the UK embassy and have my Deed Pole authenticated (which the embassy say they wont do). Ive still got copies of my old passport and even photos of our wedding day, but no one knows what to do.
So im up poop creak without a paddle.
My latest idea (which the UK embassy are completely unhelpful about) is to change my name back to the original using a UK Deep Pole service, have someone send that Deed Pole to Thailand, then I go to the UK embassy and apply for a new passport with my new name change. the embassy refuses to answer the question saying they dont deal with passport applications. all I want is a yes or no from them....ggggrrrrrtrrrrr
Other than this, I would need to fly back to the UK and do all this which is gonna cost a bit to do.
ANY, suggestions as a way round this would be much appreciated.

great idea, Russia assisted in the murder of people on the airline plane that was shot down. Ukraine is full of Russians. Let them feel the pain. anything to pressure this bully country.

Next up Koh Tao. BBC Panorama investigates (at least I hope so)....get in there BBC!!!. Show the world how pathetic and corrupt the Thai system is.

Just waiting for it to filter down. I suspect tomorrow it will be a different story. Times are changing, gone are the days of expats and border hops. Gonna F!"k a lot of people.

went there yesterday and I only have 2 exempt stamps in my passport and the REFUSED to let me out the country saying a new rule is now in place. If you have been in Thailand more than 90 days you have to fly out and back.
Was a bummer because I drove nearly 5 hours from Krabi in rain Ive never experienced before to be told this. So just take heed, Its a risk at this border.

Well done, at last a country with the balls to say it

Need some advice. Not sure where to post this, so sorry if it's in the wrong place.
A shop in CM is selling rand new Tohatsu 30HP 4 strokes Outboard cheap.
I know they are an old reliable Japanese emgine. My question is does anyone have experience with maintaining these engines? More so getting it serviced. It comes with 5 year warranty, which is pretty good and the selling point for me. Just the servicing
Thanks
