Next year you might have to provide a DNA sample, maybe even take a picture of bank employees who are dealing with your paperwork, anything could happen!
Last year the officer was reluctant to accept our family photo because it didn't clearly show the house we live in! They make up the rules as they go!
-
Will the piece of paper now be accepted as proof of address when buying a car, Motorbike and obtaining a new driving license?
I doubt it. That would mean the immigration officer losing his 300 baht for issuing an address letter. All these departments talk to each other.

How easy are they to fly? I failed miserably when trying to master several toy helicopters!
Here's this guys first attempt. I guess it answers your question!

Thinking of getting the Eachine H8 mini for 486.04 Baht for practicing with first before investing too much.
Just got my H8 from Banggood on a $6 'Snap Deal'... inc' postage

I invest 100% in Thai Stocks and have done for 20 years. I am a pensioner and I invested B6,000,000 in the Thai Stock Market in 2009 and have made B31,000,000 with my initial investment in the last 5 years. I invest in high dividend stocks with a 20% or more upside on valuation. BTS paid 7% in dividends in the past year and guarantees to pay 8% in 2015 to 2016. Other good stocks are Advance (AIS), TrueIF, and Intuch also paying 7-8% Dividend with 20% potential upside.
As your graph shows, it's going nowhere for the past 2 years! The good days seem to be a thing of the past.

Hi, your option two is the best way. You have have been living and working in FRance (in your example) for a minimum of 3 months and show that France is your domicile. Then your family can get visa based on the EU freedom of movement act (allowing freedom of movement within the EU). It was an Indian guy that first tested this route and unfortunately I don't have time right now to search after the article.
This will get you started though https://eumovement.wordpress.com/

BEREAVEMENT BENEFITS IN THAILAND
The Pensions Act 2014 became law on 14th May 2015, when it received the Royal Assent. It comes into force on 6th April 2016
With effect 6th April 2016, Thai Widows, living in Thailand, will not be eligible for any benefits under new laws which are known as Bereavement support payment. To be eligible to receive benefits (formerly known as bereavement benefits).....
(1) A person is entitled to a benefit called bereavement support payment if—
the person is ordinarily resident in Great Britain, or a specified territory, when the spouse or civil partner dies,
Thailand, unfortunately is NOT a specified territory.
I may be wrong but I think this may lead to more people not advising the UK authorities of a death.
When a UK citizen dies in Thailand, it's inevitable the British Embassy will be informed by the authorities.

I agree this is a very valid reason. Expanding your argument further, it's about more than just taxes.I made this point before, but got nil support.
Pensioners living in the UK will likely plough ALL their money back into the economy there, buying their food and paying tax such as VAT.
Ex-pats, by definition will put most of their pension into the coffers of their country of choice.
I agree with the existing situation.
Money spent in the UK has a "multiplier effect" on the UK economy. i.e you spend a pound, and the recipient of that pound in turn will likely spend at least part of that pound on buying something else from someone else, who in turn spends and so on. The result is greater domestic demand and a stronger UK economy which creates jobs for people who in turn spend money and are less reliant on the state. The result: many benefits to the UK + the whole country ends up in a better place. Looked at another way a pension spent in the UK costs the government less than a pension spent in Thailand
On the other hand a pensioner spending their pension in Thailand benefits the Thai economy, and creates Thai jobs etc, with no real benefit to UK. The UK already gives away far too much to non-UK nationals that it shouldn't do. The country is in bad shape financially, and struggling with its debts.
Also to be borne in mind:
- For people who say they have paid all their lives into the UK system. Remember 1) they contributed nothing for the first 16 years or so of their lives 2) They have had other non-pension benefits already, such as healthcare 3) The UK system doesn't save their money for the future in a magic pot somewhere, they spend it as it comes in. 4) Everyone knows existing workers (partly) fund existing pensioners, which is becoming more and more unsustainable each day + 5) Why should existing workers in the UK be creating jobs in Thailand which could actually take away jobs in their own country. Thailand sets a fine example of nationalism and protectionism and generally gives little or zero in policies that really benefit foreigners.
- The overseas pensioner usually knows the rules of the game and it's their choice to live in Thailand
- If pensions for overseas people not contributing any longer to the UK were increased, the government would simply take it off other needy areas of society. It's not as if they have a large pot of money as an excess. The UK spends more than it earns. In all likelihood, they'd reduce all pensioners over time rather than increase. eg when they equalised pension ages for men and women, all that happened is everyone ended up with a worse deal and lowest comoon denominator over time
If thinking only of myself and my family, I'd be in favour of equalising the pensions so I personally get more.
Looking at the bigger picture, and with a little less self interest, it's probably better for the UK I get a lower pension, and it goes to the people in the UK that need it, and benefits the UK. I knew the score when I signed up. I don't contribute much to the UK these days, so why should I get handouts of people I've never met.
(BTW That's no excuse for the government to continue wasting money in the ways it does, and not looking after its own nationals at the expense of foreigners in many other areas too)
And how much does the UK Government save, not having to pay for NHS treatment, free travel cards and a multitude of other benefits to those living here?

I was given an old Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop that I tried running Windows Mint 17.1 on. I thought everything was fine 'till I realised the WiFi wasn't working! I don't know if that was because of a driver missing, because I even tried connecting an old LAN cable, and that didn't work either!

I suspect if you were to a search on the forum you would find out that Phuket immigration has the same rule as all others do.
They probably have - but each officer has his own interpretation, depending on mood and financial status. LOL

If you apply on Tuesday the 2nd you will not pay an overstay fine since immigration was closed on the date your permit to stay ended.
You don't have to wait for the last day to apply for the extension. You can do it a couple of weeks early and loose nothing because the extension starts from when your permit to stay ends.
Surly the 'permitted to stay' date is written in stone? Airports and border crossings don't have holidays!
It is certainly not flexible and I did write anything saying it was.
But if you are applying for an extension (not leaving the country) at an immigration office they will not charge for an overstay if you go on the first day they are open if your permit to stay date falls on a weekend or holiday when they are closed.
Interesting, but I don't think I'd want to try my luck at Phuket immigration office!

Usual conflicting story.
Did the line break ? or did the line slip from his ankles ?
All written in 1 story. Who writes this nonsense ? Does the author know what he is writing ?
This is an insult to be fed this non-news.
Does the author know what he's writing? Well, it's an article from the Phuket News - so probably not!

Do you need a rental agreement? I live in the family house which is in the GF's name. Don't pay any rent.
I went into immigration yesterday (fairly busy for the time of year) to check exactly what's needed this time round and pick up the relevant forms. In the past I have just taken my bank book along with copies of the previous three month's transactions. This has now changed and you need a proper bank statement as well as the letter plus a copy of the front page of the bank book if you are getting an extension of stay using the money in the bank method. According to the volunteer a copy of the book signed and stamped by the bank is also acceptable but I won't risk that!
The official docket on recycled paper that I got yesterday also states you need a copy of the front of an ATM card. Now that's another new one.
Your GF needs to complete the 'Registration Form For Owner of Residence', and supply copies of her Tabien Baan and I.D card. Not sure about a rental agreement, but it wouldn't be difficult to buy a standard rental agreement form Tesco/Lotus and have her fill it out.

Thanks. Heard that online registration still isn't trouble free, yet.
Try it - you might be one of the lucky few!

Immigration was very efficient this morning, in and out for 90 day report very quickly, may it continue!
Is the 90 day report done upstairs, or downstairs at Phuket immigration?
Downstairs - or do it on-line if you've been here less than a couple of years: http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/online/tm47/TM47Action.do
-
I completed two forms filled out for either eventuality.
They accepted the one with both sections completed by the home owner.
That's how it reads to me - and the title of the form IS titled 'Registration for the owner of residence'. However, why do both sections ask for a telephone/fax number and email address. That makes it look like both parties have to complete it. Arrrrrrgh!
-
This 36 year old Address Registration form is very confusing! JetsetBkk and Phuketrichard have posted conflicting information as to who fills out section 1 & 2... and both appear to have had their paperwork accepted!
Can someone who actually KNOWS, let me know:
A. Who fills out section 1
B. Who fills out section 2
C. Who signs?

Just back from immigration, where the officer took one look at my passport and confirmed I cannot do 90 day reporting on-line because I'm not in the 'system' - and it's not possible for him to update it. He told me go out out the country and come back in if I want to do it on-line. I'v been here since 2006.
I guess you could say that is good because it is a 2nd opinion on the date of entry being the problem.
Same thing my office told me at least.
Makes me think about doing a border hop even more. At least for me it is just a short trip to the Lao border.
Yes, it's confirming what you've already been told - and said on here. I can't say I'm disapointed though - I never expected it to work anyway!

You can do the report up to 15 early or 7 days after the report date including that date in the count.
Cheer for that. I couldn't remember which way round it was. I'm now on 8, so I'll do it today.
-
Resigned to that fact that I'll have to make a personal visit, how many days before the due date can I do it? Can't remember if it's 7 or 14!

Looks like another wasted morning at Phuket Immigration Office is looming!

I've tried so many times now, I've managed to memorise my passpot number!
It seems to me like the Java code on the page is rejecting the information before sending it - and the only field that's likely to cause that is the 'Date of Arrival'. Interesting to note people that have been here more than 3 years have managed it, though. I'm baffled!
I have been trying it since February when they first posted the link on the 90 day reporting page of the immigration website. I use Chrome most of the time and it helps me fill out the info. I have also tried it on IE.
As I said before the system cannot find your records.
I think it uses your passport number, date of birth and nationality for the search since those are what you can use to check the status of your application. I get a one line response in Thai that translates to not found.
I think immigration's response to me about the cutoff for the entry date was an approximate year.
Could be wrong, but it seems to me like the time between clicking 'Submit' - and getting the response - is far too quick for a search to have been done. I suspect they've multiple issues and are probably turning it off when overloaded. That would explain why it works for some and not others....I've got 'till Friday to keep trying :-(
I have been getting the same message even before this topic was started and got the same message every time. It was certainly not busy back then. I don't think is a problem of to much traffic.
I does seem to be quick to come up but for it to search for just one parameter such as passport number it might not take long.
I've just had a thought! My last entry in 2006 was with my old passport. I'd try with that number, but I don't want to be banned from using the service for giving wrong information.

You're married and can't go the 'marriage route'? That doesn't sound right at all! Several years ago, we were told it was desirable for me to be working when doing the annual extension. Like I say, they make the rules up as they go along - it's their prerogative!
