  1. Can never understand this ongoing problem with visa that people have. Have traveled the world extensively for 45 years and had extended holidays (stays) in Thailand for 40+ years and never had this problem anywhere. During my 40 years I have done 1 visarun from Pattaya but didn't like the ride in the minivan. The visa rules for Thailand is not the worse in the world, there was a time when visit some countries was tabu and you got your stamps and visa on loose papers in the passport so you would not be banned from other countries. If you plan your stay and obtain correct visa and tickets in out you will always be fine. Wait until Thailand also requires health insurance to enter as some countries do. There is inexpensive inbound travel insurance to optain in Thailand in done that the last 12-15 years.

They put a stop to the double and triple entry visas in November 2015, the replacement multiple entry tourist visa which is now available requires you to have your bank account audited bythe embassy before they issue it.....all to go on holiday, what a joke.

The METV is easy to get and its good for a year from the day you get the visa. The small amount of money you need in the bank is peanuts compare to the 55+ visa.

the visa I got August 2 2016 have enter before 1 August 2017, so there is plenty of time to spend in Thailand. And $200 is not that bad.

personally I can understand the change of Visa Runs, it's a lot of people who use them and now it's consequenses for it.

Have you ever tried to get a tourist visa to USA? There you have controll from embassy, Thailand is easy compare to US.

  3. If you didn't have the bank statement and letter of recommendation the first time when you got denied that may be the reason. The second time you apply for a tourist visa but the embassy already know you going to Thailand to work do that was not the smartest move. When it comes to the fee, it's not refundable it state on the application from the embassy.

    Good Luck

What you were asking for at the Hull consulate would of been a non-o visa for being 50 or over. You cannot get one in the UK without being 65 or over and getting a pension. The only visa that you can get based upon retirement is a OA visa from the embassy in London. See here for the requirements. http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/51

You could obtain a single entry tourist visa and then apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa ( category O ) entry at some immigration offices. You could apply for it at any time during the 60 day entry from  the tourist visa up to the last 15 days of it. You would need 800k baht in a Thai bank on the date you apply or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa you could apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement. The 800k baht would  need to be in the bank for 60 days on the date you apply.

Ubonjoe, you mention 800.000 in bank account or  65.000 income. Just so I understand correct, if you don't have the 800.000 is it then enough if you have 65.000 or more monthly pension?

Complete rubbish, if Embassy's keep issuing him them and Immigration keep letting him in there is no abuse of the system

It's up to Immigration to decide who is abusing the system not people on here

This visa hopping and visa runs plus people on ED visa not interested in education is the reason why immigration is are hunting people who live here without proper visas. the new METV visa is a good option if you are younger.

  6. In most countries it's legal to record noice of others that you hear in your house and your property as long as y out don't invade their space to record. The only restriction is phone conversations that's not approved by both parties except in no fault states where only one party "you" have to agree and you don't have to tell the other party you record. New York State is one of them

  7. I come 3 times a year and usually do single entry visa and extend here if I need. The embassy in NY told me to do a METV Visa instead. He said that with 2 many single entry visas if not done in home country could affect me negatively when I enter the Kingdom. He said they have started to monitor visa run and single visas done in neighbor countries. It's a little bit more expensive with the METV compare to 3 single entry. The only thing that was strange was that he said that I could enter as much I want until the enter before date. I thought it was good for 6 month from date you enter and you can do a last enter days before that date to get a few extra months.

i got mine August 3/16 and enter before date is August2/17

  8. You can only get the METV visa I your home country or country you reside legally,

if you for example live in US and are not US citizen you can get a visa if you have a green card or student visa, if you have dual citizenship and have US & European passport you can only get the METV in the US passport if you like the MET in the European passport you need to apply in the country the passport is from.

if you then apply in Europe for a METV in the European passport that Thai embassy will not accept bank records for proof of money in bank from the US it have to be from a bank in that country. They seem to be strict on this

They stopped adding pages to US passports on January 1 of this year.

Best to ask for  52 page passport rather than the small one.

i have a german mate who got PR after alot of faff. i am sure he said he needs to be in the country at he time of renewal each year. he took a big risk putting down the non refundable application fee and got it but said it is not really that beneficial. maybe some one with PR can clarify this.

Just read the previous post and you have your answer, this subject does not need a lot of comments it's quite clear if you read previous post. Good luck

This brings up a good question, how many pages are possibly needed for a 4-5 year stay on a Non-Immigrant "O" Visa (Marriage)? If I need to go back to the states say once a year, will a normal US passport book fill up too fast? What I do if it does?

Next time you get a new US passport get extra pages inserted, it save you some headache.
