Don't go to Pattaya...just too much of a risk.
You have this risk all over the world, lessen learned don't wear expensive stuff when on vacation not even New York City. Pickpockets and snatches happens in New York everyday and never get in the press. I had my camera bag cut off walking on Broadway. You think you are safe but you are not anywhere. I personally feel more safe in Pattaya then New York.

Don't think that anybody can keep Trump calm and constructive, someone say something and he's on Twitter as the Twitter queen he is. As soon as he press that send button on Twitter it's to late. He have already stirred the Middle East pot, and his Ambassador to EU have started move that pot around. And he refuse to condem Russia's Invation of Ukraine so he is all over the continents stirring the pots, God knows where he attack next. China, Australia, Mexico, Canada and Philippines have also got there fair share. Iran and North Korea are put on notice and what kind of notice nobody knows. It seems that UK is the one so fare that he gets along with, but after refusing to see Prince Charles on his state visit, don't know how well that will play. He have been very diplomatic and constructive his 2 first week in office and it feels like months already.

Before going too far without a clear picture of nuclear weapons technologies.

Resolution 2231 (2015)
Ballistic missile-related transfers and activities
What are the restrictions on Iranian ballistic missile activities?
12 Paragraph 3 of Annex B of resolution 2231 (2015) calls upon Iran not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.
These missiles didn't have nuclear capabilities so they are not regulated by the agreement.
iran don't have that kind of missiles.

Yes he have done a good job starting to destroy US relations with the rest of the world. Hope his voters are happy. Now we just have to wait and see how many new jobs he will create that was not in planning before he took office.

If you look in Jomtien VT1 2 buildings VT2 2 buildings half the condos are not sold and the one sold rents high season. VT5 C & D over a 3rd of condos not sold and the rest difficult to rent except high season. They ask to much rent so the condos are empty instead and don't know if that's good business or the owners.
VT7 2/3 not sold rest only rents high season, here same thing to high rent for long term. I'm renting long term in VT5 and the condo next door was rented last new year 2 weeks to 8 Russians, the condo came back decked to the owner. She asked me after she Renovated if I liked to take her co do to same price I pay today but we liked to stay. Her condo empty si ce last February, I had a friend that liked to rent long time in October for 15.000 a month but then she said its rented 2 month (dec-Jan) for 45.000 total. Today she came crying that the person rented had smoked inside and burn mark on sofa and bed. She now have to fix it again and wash the walls it stink of smoke. Asked if she got the security and she said no they gave it back. I told her you should have rented for 15.000 for a year that would have been 180.000 now you got 45.000 and will fix it for 10.000 and it will be empty another year. There is a lot of old people that are on budget and take care of their rental as it was their own but can't afford 20.000 per month.

Notice Saudi Arabia (the biggest financial supporter of radical Islam ) is not on the list.
Trump scared to face the real realities?????
Trump have to much business agreement with Saudi Arabia, he don't like to loose his money opportunity there. They cancelled his contracts earlier but reinstated them again. It's such a double moral and corruption.

Why are these people so poor and hungry? don't they get paid? No wonder people in thailand sell their bodies for money... they just can't manage living on a low paying salary (because it's too low and because they don't know how to manage money) and they can't afford an education that would give them a better job.
The sad thing is even with a education they are underpaid

Mexico ships 80 percent of its exports to the United States, and around half of Mexico’s foreign direct investment has come from its northern neighbour over the last two decades.
Be scared Mexico, be very scared. You have been ripping off the US long enough, now it's over.
Perhaps if the Mexican government had taken steps to stop the flow of drugs and illegals over the border before, this wouldn't be happening.
PS. If I were an American, I wouldn't be planning any holidays in Mexico any time soon- sure to be a backlash.
The Mexican custom check for drugs going out, the problem is the mules in Arizona and Texas. In Texas you only have the river as border and its heavy with fishermen and drug mules. A big problem is the same as here corruption in the Arizona area. A cut from the drug money will give free passage. Not only Thailand gave corruption.

Agree just regular bank stuff you get at any account, the nice difference I think is that you can see the payments you have done with your debit card in stores separately from the other transfers or ATM withdrawals. Even though it's the same card.

You guys are incredible, <deleted> are you doing in Thailand. In your eyes everything is bad.
Have traveled the world for work 40 years and this thing happens all over. Yes there are a few farang that commit suicide, Thailand is on place 66 in the world. Robberies are done every where and it's not only ladyboy that pickpocket tourists. Every time something happen here it's all this negative reply on these forums and you wonder why people with so much negative thoughts about Thailand still are here? Is it that you can't go home for any reason? There is cheap ladies and beer in more countries then Thailand. Easier visa rules then Thailand but still a lot of people choose to stay here and complain that everything is soooo bad.
im just wondering if I'm the only one that like Thailand for what it is, yes I complain about the police corruption once in a while but have spent a lot of time here during the 40 year I worked internationally and still enjoy it here.
and strange as it sound always had a visa and travel health insurance when I visit a country.

Just take the next flight out pay the fine get a new visa and return. Immigration will put you in the monkey bus if they are in that mood.

These things getting worse and worse, have any of you guys seen the police officer on bike riding up and down TAPPRAYA road from sugar hut and down to the entrance of the homes just before Continental cafe. He follows by a white thug on a bike and something must happen between the white bike guy and regular Thai bike on the way so the police stop them at the entrance of the homes and fine the Thai and park the bike on side and then the police and white thug goes on to next offer and on it goes. I sat at the Continental and watched them for 1 hour and during that time they managed to fine 5 guys. It was to far to take picture with my phone.
i saw 2 of the guys take motorbike taxi and came back with something and got their bikes back so they took off, the other 3 took care of business at the entrance and left. Have enjoyed Pattaya for 40 years but think this will be my last winter stay. From the police on the beach to all these other incidents all makes it more and more unpleasant.

Unless you're involved with money lenders, drug dealers etc, why would you feel unsafe?

Excellent comment, this kind of shootings happen in us daily within the drug gangs.

Ummm...litigation will force those currently ignoring their responsibility to be held accountable for their actions. And if done properly, they won't be able to blame others. And if done properly, it will lead to people taking more care not to hurt others.
Accidents do happen, but all to often, they are avoidable. Especially here.
Exactly, specially here in Thailand society could benefit litigations.

It's not from the cat itself. It's a very rare thing it caused by a Group A streptococcus and you can get it from minor cuts, insects bite etc if you don't clean these proper. In the US it's around 6-700 reported cases per year.
just clean your sounds properly and don't be afraid of cats they don't carry this kind of bacteria.

Careful what you wish for. I agree that life is too cheap here, but do you really want american-style litigation? Be prepared to pay 10 times more for almost anything related to services from medical to transportation.
It doesn't have to be the American way, but something have to be done when it comes to transport companies. If they realize they can be sued they will be more careful and the fatalities will drop. Same with reckless driving from private cars.
yesterday I witness a accident in Jomtien that I gave long waited to happen, this farang turned in to a VT condo building and hit a motorbike his defense was I had turn signal on but he didn't slow down. Have seen this car many time turning here in high speed and almost hit pedestrian incl myself, if these people risk to be sued I'm sure he will slow down before turning and be more careful. Same is for Farangs driving motorbikes on did walks heave fines and the risk of being sued if they hit somebody would stop them, paying ฿1000 to police pocket will not.

It's a strange timing with us troops in Norway and Poland at a time when Trump will strengthen the US-Russia relations and is very negative against NATO. It's also a time when NATO is expanding with new member states from east Europe and most likely also Sweden will join NATO. We all know Putins dislike of NATO and their expansion.

It's sad that we probably never will get the truth. They have found debris in Africa and Seychelles. They say no radar images of the aircraft was seen at Diego Garcia or Re'union but if the aircraft passed there in low attitudes it may have been eliminated and we will never know. Just curious why they don't search that area.

Think we will see more of this after Trump is sworn in, he's priority is not Asia relation. China will take advantage and strengthen their bond in this region they have nothing to loose.
Thailand's top banks to waive off digital transaction fees
in Thailand News
Posted
withdrawal from foreign bank accounts via debit card, visa, master card in the us are also subject for transfer fee. Also if you take out money on your debit card on other banks ATM you will have a fee from that bank and also from your bank this is in the US.
in thailand if you take money from your thai Debit card on other banks ATM you have no fee in Thailand. If u transfer money from your thai account to account inother thai bank it’s a ฿25 fee for that transaction so the fees here in Thailand is less then in the US.
