Implementing safety standards costs real money, life is cheap.
End of.

The Chinese have arguably shown that it might be possible, to keep a lid on things, but only with draconian actions which I don't yet see being effectively applied here.
That requires a bunch of administrative type people getting organised and putting some effort in to doing something for future gain.
I can't see that happening here either.

BANGKOK: A fact-finding committee has been ordered to be set up to investigate into the conduct of Suthisarn police following the raid of an illegal gambling den in Suthisarn area by military personnel.
I'm fairly sure that this fact-finding committee are already aware of the facts.
And they are only investigating this one single police station are they.... well just this one until the next bubble appears in the wall paper, and then this one can be forgotten about.

Use your fingers to measure the gap between a woman's hairline and her eyebrows.
You'll either get lucky, a big laugh or a hefty slap.

Interesting indeed,He added: "It is like when you see a soldier in uniform. Don't just believe because he is a soldier he must be strong and healthy. Maybe he is sick not healthy.
That is an interesting comment from a (former) general.
I have no idea what the moral of the story is? I do know that I like a good bedtime story and wish Prayuth could read another one for me.
I guarantee that the bedtime story (fairy tale) would end with "and they all lived happily ever after."
And then everyone wakes up with the reality.

The milk was fresh or so they say - but was it pasteurised?
As far as I know, it is UHT, thus it lasts almost as long as dogs milk.

Under my regime I will restore peace and order to the people. Happiness every day. I will remove corruption from our ranks. (Not an exact quote but you get my drift from the daily diatribes and diarrhea spewed out
Ummm I remember these words. Nothing yet I can see.
And here is yest more DAILY proof his OWN Appointed and remaining officials think HE TOO is an idiot. Not just us.
So it is here we see the proof it is business as usual and nothing will ever change only now it is far worse.
How can that be?
you seem to think that the current PM should be held responsible every minor crime committed in the nation. Do you also think that the prior PM should be held accountable for crimes committed by her (allegedly) appointed Ministers?
Previous governments have made this country what it is. HOWEVER it has become vastly different to what it was when I arrived 4.5 years ago. It is far worse and getting even worse day by day. NOT BAD - WORSE. And it is this one man pulling all the strings.
If you think it is acceptable I pity you. Yes he is responsible for the things getting as they are now as it is is HIM who directs and appoints and removes. READ THE NEWS.
Four, and a half, years - wow! Perhaps your perception that things are getting worse is influenced by the number of crimes now uncovered, reported and being investigated that were previously untouchable. Personally, I love seeing the criminals that flourished under the Shinawatra banner being flushed from cover.
But you didn't answer the question. If you expect the current PM to micro-manage and be responsible for every petty crime, shouldn't the previous PM be held responsible for crimes committed by the ministers she appointed (allegedly)?
Quite right, you can't expect the PM to handle every single incident.
But he can appoint people to do it.
Problem with that is, reading about incidents like this makes it apparent that everyone from the top down is either incompetent or bent.

Schoolgirl's death from weight loss pills - officials make huge seizure of online pills

"Not against human rights because they broke the law..."
When you dictate the law as you go along that's an abuse of human rights. You can't hoodwink the international community.
That is a bitter pill, and either the significance of it hasn't been noticed yet, or they still believe it doesn't apply to them.
A magnificent display of hubris.

Humphrey again.... couldn't possibly be a greedy thief hiding behind a uniform and medals.

Blame Humphrey (it's always someone else's fault)

By the way - quit the Buddhism bashing. Buddhism in Thailand is so vast that there are bound to be some rotten apples. Get over it. To condemn the entire philosophy and all the millions of sincere people who are guided by Buddhism because of some high-profile corruption is not even Bayesian inference, it's just crass.
Rather than suggest there are 'some rotton apples', I would suggest there are 'some good apples' that actually take it seriously.
Like finding an honest BiB, rare, but it can happen.

And in the absence of any medical experts, wild, uninformed speculation will do nicely.I thought that SE Asians didn't have the enzyme in their stomach enabling them to digest milk anyway, or is this a urban myth? Perhaps one of our medical exports could enlighten us on this?
Around 95% of Asians are lactose intolerant, it won't harm them, but it doesn't do them any good.
The amount of sugar added to it here on the other hand.......

I have read many comments about the new episode on several Kodi related FB groups, and i don't recall to have seen a single positive one.
It's getting a pasting in the press too, and not just in English.

In my experience, it is not the pedestrians, who don't know, how to use a zebra- crossing...
Yep, despite the kiddies being carried everywhere by their mothers until the age of five, I'm pretty sure they know how to walk, try teaching the drivers how to drive properly instead.

LONDON: -- Bletchley Park historians have recovered a rare machine used by Adolf Hitler to exchange top secret messages with his high command after finding it advertised on eBay for just 9.50 pounds ($19.30).
Rare?
Not really, if they were rare the asking price would be a bit more than a tenner.
(and yes, The Imitation Game is a great movie)
Maybe the seller didn't know what it was.

See the link, the pattern? It's always the same, always violent, always intolerant, and always couched in 'for the children/migrant' (choose your pet).
It's the same here, Sweden, Denmark, France, etc., clearly evident in the US now, and always offered as 'free speech.' There is one single secular ideology infecting the West and it's MO is predictable because the capacity of its followers is limited. But it's violent. It's leftist. And it's insurgent.
I agree we should always be on our guard against those who abuse democracy and are intolerant of other peoples views. Especially the Germans with their history who I am sure remember what happened when they allowed a right wing fascist to seize power.
Godwin will be along very soon.
