OK thanks Mario - will do.
Application should be made at the immigration office for the area where you reside. which will lead to questions why you live in CM and study in Bangkok so take some documentation about the program with you.
I went to Chiang Mai Immigration, showed them my passport and they said I can't do the 1-year extension there as my college is in Bangkok so I'll go to Chaengwattana next month along with documentation from college.

Seems that the OP is working !
Maybe an"ED visa" is not an appropriate or legal means of remaining in Thailand ?
Personally-speaking, I'm not working. At the moment, I'm staying with friends and adjusting to things here and am not currently in a position to start looking for a job.
When that time comes, I would expect to find a reputable employer who will provide the appropriate paperwork.

It's a 3-year BA TESOL course ran by an international college in Bangkok. The face-to-face modules are designed to allow those who are teaching to be able to attend during school holidays. Research papers etc; are done in our own time.
From what I understand, those studying on Ed Visas i.e. me, have to attend 10 weeks of classes per year as this is a MoE compulsory requirement.

I have a 3-month Ed Visa issued at Chaengwattana which expires on 25-2-14 but am getting conflicting information about how / where I can extend it.
1. My college is in Bangkok but I live in Chiang Mai but commute to take may face-to-face classes twice-yearly. Chaengwattana say that I can extend in Chiang Mai - is this possible?
2. I know I have to fill in a form but what are the exact documents required for the 1-year extension?
Many thanks,
Dan

Last week at Vientiane the consulate gave me a list of requirements for those wanting a 'B' visa:
1. Original letter from school to Royal Thai Embassy or Consular Section
2. Original letter from Educational Service Area Office to Royal Thai Embassy or Consular Section
3. Copy of employment contract
4. Copy of ID card of person who signs in letter no. 1
5. Copy of school licence
(6. Is in Thai and I can't read it!)

I went to Vientiane with my documents from college but they said they couldn't issue an Ed Visa as the documents were addressed to Thai Immigration and not the Consulate. So, I got a 60 day Tourist visa and then went overnight to Bangkok where, despite people camping inside the government building, Immigration granted me my Ed Visa. It is valid for 3 months but can extend it for 1 year in Chiang Mai after 60 days (so they tell me).
Again, thanks to everyone who responded to my questions here. As the lawyer didn't know how to proceed, the help here has been invaluable.

Just got back from CW today (Friday). Very fluid situation so skedaddled out as soon as I finished at 9.25 a.m. When I got there very early this morning at 7.30, the overnight stayers seemed to be just waking up, but when I left, the numbers seemed to be rapidly rising. Also, started hearing those whistles which seemed to indicate some call to arms.
The immigration usually opens at 8.30 but just like the previous day (thanks, Puyai Baan) the officers decided to open the doors early. On Thursday it was 8 and today it was 7.50. I really have to commend the officers who were trying to make the best of a tricky situation and were very proactive in helping the legit crowd. The officers are still dressed in their civvies for their own well-being, so don't be surprised if a person who's not in uniform starts trying to help you.
Anyway, it turned out to be the shortest time I'd ever taken to settle the visa and 90-day reporting. My Thai friend's advice had been right - if you have to go to CW and can't wait due to deadlines, get there as early as possible in the morning, as there may be problems as the day progresses. As I was leaving, I also saw a tv truck with a huge satellite dish on top and additional buses of people so obviously things are heating up.
Once again, I would like to praise the immigration officers who were handling the delicate situation as best they could. There were a number of people sleeping rough in the big atrium area just next to the immigration doors, and the officers explained that they were opening the doors early to allow us to get to the inner areas where we could sit in greater comfort. Certain officers then started their duties half an hour early and started the processing.
Sounds like a carbon-copy of yesterday. Opened at 8am after rumours that it wouldn't be opening at all but once inside, the staff (in civvies) were excellent and very helpful. Despite everything that was going on, they ran everything smoothly (with smiles) and my change of visa was a success.

Not sure. I would think that they should be the same. I would try for the ED then if no get a tourist visa. They will tell you yes or no when you turn in the application.
Thank you Joe. I will give it a try and see what they say. All this is a bit of a headache for me!
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thanks for that Joe. My college professor told me that the documents the college has provided me with are only possible to be used when applying for the Ed Visa from within Thailand so I think my best bet may be to just get a 60 day tourist visa in Vientiane, then head to Bangkok to change to the Ed Visa. Does that sound right to you?

A quick update.. two weeks ago I was told that the lawyer was confident that he'd be able to process my extension of stay based on my studies but then he returned my application form and supporting documnents saying that he was no longer able to do it.
So, I went to Chiang Mai Immigration and they told me that they cannot do an extension of stay based on my study so tomorrow (Monday) I am going to Laos to apply for a 60 day toursit visa in Vientiane which, I'm told by my college, can then be changed to an Ed Visa at immigration in Bangkok.
However, is it worth trying to apply for the Ed Visa in Vientiane?

As far as I know they don't sell these products in a Thai pharmacy.
All wart removal products that you can buy here are either (salicylic)acid based or anti-viral cream (aldara).
There are no Freeze sets that can be used at home.
Thanks Kris. Do you know if the wart-removal products available here would be effective for small tattoo-removal, if applied over a course of time?

Reading this thread made me homesick for watching football on a wet Tuesday night with a meat pie at half-time. If I went back, I'd stock up on deodorant, electric toothbrush heads, razor blades, Asda Smartprice chocolate (yes really) and maybe a new passport.
It's probably a good idea to go back every now and then if finances allow. Never good to burn your bridges but visiting family and friends would be nice; besides, you never know when you might need them (or they you).
