How old and bitter do you have to be to get upset about a floating bouncy castle?

I guess the answer is "very" and "very" :-) It seems endemic on here nowadays.

Actually I've mostly found it to be the young and positive that can enjoy the natural beauty of a beautiful beach without the need for crass, tacky commercialism.

I always get these replies when I make any comment on the trashing of the Thai enviroment.

How does a floating bouncy castle trash the environment?

It's just something fun for kids.

You guys are miserable old coots.

That's a rather rough comment.......a bit like me calling you a looser because you like this sort of tacky shit. But of course I would never do that.

On a more serious note......well yes, of course it is for 'the kids' (actually more for the profit of some locals). But here you have a beautiful beach to play on and show the children, who may well come from areas where there are no beaches/crappy beaches/polluted beaches/beaches with jetskis and bouncy castle........and you want to instil in them that nature can be improved upon by dumping a giant load of ugly plastic on the sand. Maybe take the kids to Pattaya or Patong Beaches to give them the full commercial beach experience.

Can the thai immigration authorities please start doing random passport checks in areas like Huay Kwang, Ratchada, Thonglor, Chinatown etc as there are lots of Chinese overstayers who are living and working in Thailand and even Singaporean Chinese, Malaysian Chinese, Fillipinos, Koreans and even Japanese overstayers these days I have been told. Some blend in by speaking thai and acting thai. In areas like Huay Kwang and Ratchada like the Ideo Huaykwang Condo for instant, I have seen chinese renting 31 sqm condos with 4 to 6 people staying in them. The agents like Bangkok Residence and the condo management do not comply with Thai laws which make it mandatory to report to immigartion and the local police any foreigners who are staying in the building. I have seen many young Chinese operating businesses here in Thailand even at the Jatujak Market (I did not know that there were work permits that allow foreigners to sell at the weekend market or even to work in certain salad bars at Paragon (one run by the family of a so called patriotic Indian family employs only fillipinos serving staff...again did not know that workpermits were allowed for such professions). The thai immigration should start doing random checks in all condo buildings in Bangkok not only the low class condos but aklso the middle and upper end ones.

Please its not fair for farangs who abide by thai and immigrations laws and pay local taxes duly to see other foreigners doing things illegally and the authorities not catching them.

If it bothers you that much and you obviously know where they all are why don't you report them to Immigration, you seem the type to do so

Are these people affecting your life in some way? I doubt it so what's your problem?

People like you knock me sick to be honest.

As a long term resident in Thailand having married a local girl in 1971, it is the attitude of people like you that makes this country such a mess it is today.

I'm confused with the last comment........which attitude do think is adding to the mess of Thailand today......the guy who is pissed off with people acting illegally here ? .......or the later poster who finds being pissed off with illegal activity sickening????

You mean crappy ugly restaurants built on the beach, lots of garbage, dirty water, jetskis, speedboats, deckchair/umbrellas, etc etc.......give me clean, quite beautiful beaches any day.

Khun Loong, That's all very well, but as I said earlier in this thread, I am sad at the demise of the Lotus.

It doesn't matter what you say, you cannot take that away from me. If I feel that way, then so do many others. What makes you think your view is right?

Where did I say my view was right? Read my post again......I said "give ME clean, quiet beaches any day" Am I allowed to express my opinion if it is different to yours?

There are still plenty of beaches in Thailand with garbage all over the place......I'm sure you can find another one you like just as much.

They don't allow any vendors on the beaches in California where I grew up or allow restaurants and loungers all over the beach. Do they allow that on the beaches where you grew up?

Nope. So they came here to enjoy what they couldn't get back home. They said it was part of Thailand's charm.

You mean crappy ugly restaurants built on the beach, lots of garbage, dirty water, jetskis, speedboats, deckchair/umbrellas, etc etc.......give me clean, quite beautiful beaches any day.

You can do whatever the hell you want. Why not ? Easier to be an anti theist like me, don't have to make up problems like this....

I'm sure you could pray to the giant chicken god at the centre of Uranus and it will have exactly the same effect.

You can pray to tea leaves, the cobra in the garden or your girlfriend's frilly knickers, nobody will bat an eyelid. Just thank the Buddha that you were not born an Iraqi.

I could never understand why the subject of faith seems to cause those who claim they lack faith to get their knickers in a knot or why they feel obliged to make childish comments about what someone else believes. Aside from getting some puerile jollies out of making comments, what possible purpose could it serve?

    1. You seem to be the one with your "knickers in a twist"

    2. So you think that NOT believing in magic men in the sky, superstition, angels, devils, a happy theme park in the sky and a nasty theme park in the hot centre of the earth is childish? hmmmm

    3. So it's ok for anybody to rabbit on with posts on this site about their superstitious beliefs but not OK for anyone to comment on what a load of rubbish it is?

    4. You ask what possible purpose can be served by commenting that some of us don't believe in magic and superstition.......? Maybe you haven't noticed, but it's the 21st Century.......what good does it do for humanity to continue clinging to these Bronze age beliefs in magic, superstition and myth?

Because of their 2 month summer, many Poms have been brainwashed to accept their beaches being full of deck chairs, umbrellas, shitting Donkeys and Punch and Judy. Some in TV ask "whats wrong with deck chairs and umbrellas" etc.  They need to go to Australia, where none of this crap is seen on our pristine beaches which are admired the world over. There you will see just clean beautiful beaches, if you want a chair take your own and put it back in the car when finished.   I agree, shift ll this commercial junk off the beaches of Thailand, teach those who think that they are ok, what a pristine beach looks like.

Well said Mr.  I have enjoyed one small, beautiful beach on Phuket for many years. Banana Beach. But the past few years it has been infected with the tacky white plastic chair disease. And the owners have started hassling people who don't want to rent these eyesores.

Taking a wife or girlfriend to Pattaya is totally irresponsible.

The crime capital of Thailand is not a suitable family holiday destination, it is geared up for sex-pats and is populated by the most undesirable elements from the underclass of International societies.

As you can see from the photo, the lady does not look amused but rather in shock and is a place better off avoided. People that decide to visit Pattaya do so at their own risk and discretion.

Be careful, no doubt you will get abused by Pattaya lovers. I made a comment on a previous article about Pattaya and all I got was personal attacks by sexpats.

YES "Pattaya is Perfect".................if you like filthy beaches with deckchairs, jetskis, scammers, ugly unrestricted building, a forest of awful advertising signage, rubbing shoulders with sexpats in wife beater singlets, skanky tattooed hookers, aggressive drunk Russians, sleazy Indians, ladyboys on the make, stalls of useless tourist crap.......go for it.

the real beauty of Pattaya is that you don't run into some Khun Loong alt=laugh.png>

As I said Naam, if that sort of shit is your thing, then go for it. I won't stop you because THAT is the real beauty of Pattaya: it concentrates all the worst of sex tourism in one area, all those creepy losers never venture far from the bar or brothel. And you are right, you won't run into me there. It's not meant for, non does it cater to me. Once was enough.

Who's louder and more obnoxious, Chinese or Americans?

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Hmmmm good question. Chinese definitely louder, but for me (as I do not speak any Chinese dialect) Americans more obnoxious because most of what comes out of their mouths is rubbish even after you edit out every second word which is 'like'. "It's like way better in the states cause it's like we do it like this way like real like".

Qualified English teachers??? Because a bachelors degree in zoology or computer science makes you a qualified English teacher....... What a joke.

If you have a TELF certificate, you are already a more qualified English teacher than some one with a degree in, say, astro-physics.

Hmmmm......... a few months ago I was on the BTS and trapped listening to (I had no choice as there were talking above everyone else) a group of Americans bragging about how easy it was to teach English in BKK and all the stupid things their students said.....! Everyone of their ignorant, ill informed, grammatically incorrect sentences contained the word "like" between every few words, said with a whiney accent of course. No way would I let those TELF stars near an English language classroom.

Put me down for no reincarnation

I do believe in stupid, gullible people though

Hahahahahahah! You sound like the kind of guy who believes in the tooth fairy!
We as I posted, i have seen more proof of tooth fairy than of any god or reincarnation. But no, maybe you don't get the humour......it's all superstitious crap.

Ummm, I got it, guv. Did you get mine?

Actually no 'guv'. I really don't get what you are trying to say.

Are you trying to say that people believing in reincarnation, including me, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, Jains, many Jews, Christians etc are stupid gullible people?

Are you saying that scientists such as Ian Stevenson are fools?

What scares you so much about it? Open your mind.

Hmmmm you know the old saying that "if you could reason with superstitious people, there would be no superstitious people". So you go one believing in magic and I will 'open my mind' to understanding the universe is an amazingly wonderful thing, even without man made gods.
