  1. . I agree with all you said except the last point.... The hate you mention is actually very one-sided; you and I hate no one for making the decision to wear a mask or take a vaccine.
  2. . Yes, I'm aware of that. My question is, if we never leave LOS, will we be grandfathered in, or will they someday require us to have coverage?
  3. . So, those on non-imm O retirement extension already in the country will be grandfathered in (if they do not leave and come back)?
  4. . As opposed to Joe Smith or Mike Jones..... No wonder nothing ever gets done in the Thai ministry when it take 8 minutes just to tell someone your name.
  5. Why are you questioning the person with the medical mask exemption? Question the hospital and doctors who gave her the exemption. Maybe they know something about her condition that you don’t know. As she stated…”…medically exempt, as instructed by my local hospital and respitory nurse/ASD specialist.” So perhaps you should not be trying to “outdoctor” her medical care specialists and doctors. Who are you to suggest to her that maybe she should not travel to Thailand? She’s coming to Thailand for study. How is she risking anyone’s life? If she already had Covid and recovered, then she has immunity even much better than being vaccinated. If she’s vaccinated, then great. If others are vaccinated and/or wearing masks, then she is no threat to them. And if she is not elderly with co-morbidities than the odds of her dying crossing a Thailand street are probably higher than of dying of Covid. I know a number of people who had Covid and recovered. Most of them said it was a like a mild flu, and then they recovered with no problem. . Well said..... Sadly there are many people who think because they believe what "experts" and governments say, it must be true.
  6. . I never cover my nose with the mask. Never been denied entry or service, not on the BTS, not in a taxi, not at Emporium, not at Villa Market, etc.,, not at Bumrungrad hospital. Not once. For good measure, I often carry a cup of coffee or other drink. Lastly, I don't buy masks.... Had a local seamstress make some by creating tank tops from 100% cotton T-shirts. So they do not have a rigid strip that can be bent to form to the nose, meaning they allow for a large gap, so mouth breathing is also possible.
  7. . It had nothing to do with 'punishment.' It had to do with preventing another attack that could kill a little girl.... Guess some fathers care about their children more than they care about a dog.
  8. . They are rounded up all the time and sent to Viet Nam, in box trucks..... At least, prior to all the recent turmoil....
  9. . When I first moved here years ago, my Thai language teacher told me about when she was a child. Neighbor had 4 or 5 mean dogs that he let run free in the alley. Her father told the guy be had better lock the dogs up. Or else. The guy didn't. The girl, then about 7 years old and walking home from school, got bit on the leg one afternoon. Next morning, every single dog was dead. Shot in the head. End of story. That is a man I admire.
  10. . The lady who puppy sits my mutt says these people might help you find a home, rather than take him back to where he was attacked: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1269576256388857/?ref=share https://www.facebook.com/groups/882539605113201/?ref=share https://www.facebook.com/groups/petsittingbangkok/?ref=share I don't do Smart phones or Facebook, either, but there are some dog lovers here who can surely help you use these links.... Am I right, guys?
  11. . Most states have discontinued the $300/week extra cream on top from the feds, just for that reason.... So, nope that's not the reason they have a worker shortage.
  12. . Why would I want to own land? To pay insane taxes, maybe? And when the economy hits the skids and one can no longer pay the tax man, have it taken away from me? I have a classic, vintage Thai apartment in BKK. All teak and marble inside, walled-in, beautiful landscaping, pool, great office staff, walk to everything: ฿8000/month. Moved in in 2010. Owner's son is a good friend now. But that is just for when I'm in BKK. Otherwise I lease a one-bedroom bungalow, a/c, fenced-in, two minutes to an isolated beach by scooter, with few neighbors (mostly rubber trees). All for ฿4000/month. Moved in in 2011 when it was brand new. Updating to my tastes now, and plan on being carried out feet first. $360/month barely paid my Home Owner's fee ($180/month), let alone my property tax ($400/month)...... .
  13. . There is a brand new condo/apartment building directly across the street from my apt, in Sukhumvit, on a quiet street. 7-800 sf, w/d in kitchen, big bath with tub and separate walk-in shower. Large bedroom. Very, very nice. Also has large rooftop pool and big gy,. Starts at ฿15k/month for one bedroom. Oh, it has covered parking, too....... EDIT: Oh, yeah, did I mention it is furnished?
  14. . Moving day. From BKK, 400kms to my house. One (filled to the brim) box truck, driver who helped load, gas, door-to-door: ฿3250. Said no passengers allowed, held out ฿200, and he smiled and said, get in. Saw my dog, said, oh, no, cannot! Another ฿300 and we were on our way. Try that in the UK or US..... .
  15. . It was putative..... Sort of like your sense of humor. (Had to look up putative, didn't you?)
  16. . I had 26 on my ANA flight a few weeks' back..... Love that airline, though, great service.
  17. . Does one need to go to graduate school to be so presumptuous, or can one be self-taught? Give me your home address and I will send you ฿10, to buy a starter kit containing a sense of humor.
  18. . 43 Thais coming home and 11 foreigners.... Of which 9 were crew. Tonight, 9 more bowls of Ramen sold than usual in Sukhumvit. Big money!
  19. . Take a black light and walk around at night and you will see 'seedy' all over Pattaya.... Indoors and out.
