    Obtain reentry permit at airport.

Can't see much reason to obtain at immigration unless the office is very convenient to where you live.

Request for departure ~ date I understand, the rest not so.

My bad, it was meant to be "date".  As for the rest, I wonder if you ever filled in the TM.8 Re-entry Permit Form?

    https://www.thai-consulate.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/tm8.pdf

It doesn't matter where you apply for your re-entry permit.  If the IO in front of you decides that you should fill in the blanks, you have no other choice.  Even to the extent of giving pseudo dates.  No use telling the IO you were not asked to fill in those data the past 10 years.  You may even have to thank your lucky stars that the IO didn't ask to see your return tickets to confirm what you have written down.

Yes it does and all of them conflicting in terms of what needs to be purchased.  That is why I thought someone on this forum might know the answer.  You see before I post I always try to obtain the answer via google.

You are contradicting yourself.  You did your research and you still expecting someone here can give you the answer you want?

You can apply for a multiple re-entry permit that will be valid to day your extension of stay (it is not a visa) ends for a fee of 3800 baht.

No need to provide a any departure or arrival dates when you apply for it.

Yesterday I applied for a re-entry permit.  For the first time in 10 years, the IO asked me to fill in the expected departure day, the expected return date, the extension of stay permit number and the issued date! Amazing Thailand.

Is that correct since I am residing in Thailand and on a visa that does not expire until February 22, 2023.  I posted the question because in the past I had read posts that the insurance coverage had to cover the length of stay in Thailand as shown by the Visa the person was entering Thailand under.

No one is going to stop you if you want to buy covid insurance to cover to the end of your extension.  I came back in March with 30 days covid insurance and my extension expires in September 2022.  This advice has been given many times in this forum.  What other assurance do you need?

That is currently 700K THB, about $20.6K, they may well reduce the cover but I doubt the premium will go down.

Has anyone actually used the 650 baht option, I find it difficult to see how they would issue the TP with only 14 days insurance and no PCR test.

I reckon it is the same as policy with deductible.  In this case, insurance cover starts the day you enter to meet TP requirement.  However, in fine print, if you are tested positive in the first 14 days, you pay for the expenses.

This is exactly what I am doing. My passport expires on 30 April 2023, and my Ext of Stay on 25 May 2022. It will be extended in my old passport until 30 April 2023, and after I apply for my new UK passport, (which takes 10 weeks to process), I will have the new Ext of Stay transferred to the new passport, once I get it. My understanding is that I cannot travel for the 10 weeks whilst the new one is being processed, even though I will have it in my possession.

Why can't you travel while your new passport is being processed?  You still have a valid passport with you.

Agree with the above but I landed in Chiang Rai a couple of weeks ago on a domestic flight and was approached at the baggage carousel by a couple with a clipboard asking if I was a Thailand Pass arrival.  They were obviously waiting on someone but why would they be doing this in Chiang Rai given what we are supposed to know about TP, Test and Go etc?

There are international direct flights to Chiang Rai.

You can get it for 1000 Baht now on basis you are just loooking for cheapest to get in and are not bothered with insurance to the hilt...

The insurance premium may look attractive on the surface.  But a PCR test 72-hour before departure to activate the policy will set you back at least an equivalent of 2000 Bahts.

You mention they ask for vaccination certificate. I am not vaccinated. Isn't a negative test before boarding allowed in such cases?

If you are unvaccinated, you would have to apply for the Thailand Pass under Alternative Quarantine category not Test&Go or Sandbox.  Since 1st April 2022, you don't even need a pre-departure PCR test.

You guys make it so confusing….

this is my interpretation - as of April 1st, no PCR test is required by the Thai gov under the Thai Pass if your plane touches down on or after April 1st…this includes everyone whether Thai or non Thai citizen.

yet one must pay attention to one’s airliner own requirement as it could require a pre arrival PCR or antigen test to fly on their planes regardless of Thai Pass/elimination of pre arrival test -  4/1/22

is my interpretation correct or incorrect?

Wrong, airlines will follow what is required by the destination country.

You did read my OP thoroughly, didn't you? I was completely unaware of the cost of the test, and quite reasonably thought that it could be just a couple of hundred baht - or somewhere else near it's ACTUAL cost, and a ride from the airport to BKK could have been as little as 500, if it were priced reasonably.

And with regards to Agoda, this hotel was clearly labelled as '**** Hotel (SHA Plus+)', so I had no reason to think there would be extra costs.

Again, I had NEVER looked at the costs of entering Thailand until today, when I started my journey.

Welcome to Thailand, I hope you learned something new.

MY case- retirement visa about to be extended for 12 months -So far no mandatory medical insurance.

But I'm leaving Thailand immediately I get the extension.

I return -Now I have to buy medical insurance ok no problem , but insurance is 30 day restricted .

I intend to remain in Thailand for another 12 months -But my insurance cover has lapsed

The question is do I have get another 30 day block of insurance and continue to do so until my retirement visa comes up for extending .

Darren of Key Visa indicated that a 30 day only insurance policy will result in visa length being limited to only 30 days.

Can anybody give some light on this

    Thank You

Insurance for Thailand Pass has nothing to do with your length of extension of stay.  30-day covid insurance cover is sufficient.  I am on extension of stay (Retirement) until Sept2022.  I came back with 30 day covid insurance for Thailand Pass application this month.  No problem.  In the Thailand Pass application just "tick" returning to Thailand.
