I can't see london, or Glasgow, or Liverpool, or Manchester, becoming second rate; but yeah, the regions are gonna suffer, I reckon. I hope I'm wrong.

Plenty of rusty nails in my foot as a kid, and pussy wounds were like normal. Enjoyed squeezing them. Anti-biotics are for emergencies - a bullet wound, an amputation; using them for everyday ailments is just stupid. A generation brought up on anti-biotics is gonna have a big problem when that pandemic comes along, which it will, sure as night follows day.

And they wonder why the birth rate is going down - people have an innate, evolutionary driven, feeling for future circumstances. I would say we're living on borrowed time, not that it makes much difference to me, being in my 60s.

Why? It makes the roads look pretty. Might is right in Thailand, and a pedestrian is on the lowest tier.

Thailand's competitive advantage for Western tourists was always its cheapness, which one could offset against the airfare. All I can say is good luck with the Indians and Chinese. Actually, I think the presence of Western tourists here was probably part of the attraction for other nationalities.

What happened to free trade - you buy from who you want, when you want, how you want; oh dear, it doesn't suit us, suddenly free trade goes out the window.

Politics aside, why is the man just so damned unlikable? Even seeing a photo of him gives me the creeps.
Glad I'm not the only one. As for running candidates in every constituency, that was always a pipe-dream. He knows it, Boris knows it. You don't pull credible MP material out of a hat, like rabbits. Boris didn't bite on his rather obvious bluff, so he makes the magnaminous gesture - it's not like he was forced to or anything.

I haven't read the thread, so forgive me if I'm repeating a previous poster, but this was actually happening in the supermarket at The Mall Ngamwongwan last Thursday. Shoppers were actually bringing their own bags. I nearly fell over backwards in surprise. I've been there before on a temporary "no plastic bags" day and everyone, apart from me, was just ignoring it. People were treating it as pretty routine too, so it seems to be a permanent thing. Guess there is hope.

Yeah, it's easy to be dismissive, but of the world leaders on choice who would you choose - Xi Jinping, Putin. One has to realise that what you're going for here is the best of a bad bunch. Or maybe you'd like Prayut in charge. Personally, I'd go for a total b@#tard, someone with good motives but can get things done.

If Brexit happens, Scottish independence will follow, sure as night follows day. Unless an independent UK happens to be wildly successful. I doubt it myself, but who knows. Freed from the regulatory mechanisms of Europe it's possible but highly unlikely. Big Boys rule OK - China, Russia, Europe, the USA.

What I want to know is where is the reset button. God awful mess from start to finish, whenever that might be.

Well, sounds like they got an authentic Halloween experience, who needs Freddy Kreuger when you have mass shooters.

Just open up channels for these low wage workers to come to the UK legitimately, like, they're coming anyway. Incidently, my father was recruited in Ireland to work in the British mines, married an English gal, and by all accounts his offspring are contributing to The National Wealth pretty substantially. I'm the black sheep, upped sticks and f#@ked off to Thailand. Still, when I was in the UK I did my bit. I've had a varied career and all the immigrants I've met were adding value.

I agree with the premise, only two things I care about - the NHS and the exchange rate.

800,000 bt, obviously. What would worry me, if I had the extra funds, would be getting it out.

Well, it may be some encouragement to know that, with us older guys (60+), being slightly overweight on the standard BMI index increases survivability. Ha!

At 31 I'd guess he's another Phuket rip-tide victim; don't know the details of this particular case but alcohol, night swimming, and rip tide, would be, potentiallly, a pretty lethal combination. Tourists need to realise that many of the Phuket beaches just aren't safe, even during the daytime, let alone at night.

Still Somchai resisted arrest grabbing a knife and bottle and using a wardrobe in the process, reported Thai Rath. He was finally taken into custody
Interesting thst they didn't just shoot him. Bullets cost money, I guess. Where am I going with this, I don't know, but the contrast is stark.

Yeah, we start out idealistic then gradually decline. I'm not quite horizontal yet. I'd be very worried if young people didn't take an antagonistic stance. An ageing population is not good.

Yeah, you need a quantum computer to predict the outcome on this one. Personally, I don't care - belts and braces.

Well, I don't know about Mr. Stephen, but when I wake up the next morning and, only then, realise I've forgot my bag, the reason is usually pretty obvious. Funny story - I was traveling home fron London and the train kept stopping/starting. Some problem I forget what. Anyway, I took advantage of one of the stops to have a quick fag. Wouldn't you know it, without warning the doors closed and off goes the train, together with my case file for the case I had to present the next morning. Managed to wing it and retrieved the case file eventually. Hope my former bosses aren't reading this. Ah, the good old days.
