  1. I was asked to show a yellow book to an airline in Brazil earlier this year when I was traveling back to Thailand.   My vaccination had actually expired even though it’s considered good for life these days.  They were not going to let me board the plane without it, so lucky I had the book.  They didnt care when I got to Thailand though but I got a booster anyway when I could so the book it up to date now.

  2. I can recommend ihavecpu.com, they sell used and new hardware.

I bought a GTX 1080ti from them shortly after the RTX range was released for about 14,500.

It was bought through Lazada, shipped and delivered within a few days, boxed and looked like new.  Good service.

You can get better value with AMD or GTX 1070s and 1060s if your monitor is only good for 1080p though.

  3. I've been using Q-Acoustics BT3 for several years and am very happy with the sound.  The remote control is garbage though and they have an annoying auto-off feature when not in use.  Despite those minor complaints, I'd still recommend them.

  4. I've had a 2nd British Passport for the last 20 years, I had one of them renewed last October in Bangkok.

You'll need to email them first to make an appointment, the office in Bangkok is at the Trendy Building, Sukhumvit Soi 13.

Obviously, you need the form filled in, you can print it out online for overseas applications - if in the UK, you need to get one from the Post Office.  There is no counter signature required for a renewal.

As already mentioned, you need a letter from your employer stating the reason why you need a second passport.  This needs to be dated within 30 days of your application date.

You'll also need a full colour photocopy of every page in your existing passports.  Since i was renewing, that was a full copy of both passports.

Lastly, i gave them a copy of a letter which had my name and address on it (bank statement), dated within the last 3 months.

They send all your documents to LIverpool and don't bill you until your application has been approved.  Therefore, you need to give them another form which has the billing details from the credit card or debit card you'll use to pay with.  You don't pay in Bangkok. payment is taken from the UK.

The office in the Trendy building is very efficient, I had a 10:30 appointment but arrived early which was no problem.  All told i was in and out of there in 5 minutes and my new passport was ready to pickup around 11 days after i applied which was excellent service.

I've gone off the idea of STEAM, I'm told that you can't save multiple levels of the same game as you go. (So if my kid and I are playing the same game, we can't play at our own rates and save as we go and has to be under each account and therefore buy the game twice). So it just means buying the originals in store on disc.

This is not true.  Games on Steam can be shared between accounts as long as the person who wants play is using a computer authorized by the person who owns the game.

Its in the settings, Family Sharing.

I believe iviewhd packed up a few months ago and now revived as hdprime.tv and quite a good service at 570 baht a month for all UK tv & sports

No, that was ILikeHD, I never did like the picture quality on that service although maybe it's better now with HDPrime - I haven't tried it.

iViewHD is still going, they sent me an activation code on Monday, two days after i'd paid.  I'll give HDPrime a try next time though, cheaper as well at 570 baht.

think you are missing the point, seems a coincidence (although it may well have been) that they chose to point the camera at the pavement just prior to that happening.

Yeah, I'm missing your point.  The person recording with the cellphone had obviously already watched the dashcam footage, therefore they knew what was coming up.

Horrific assault on a child.  Like i said already, hope they catch the scum.

screw lose or yabba. what a horrible ****

** what i do find strange about that video is it's not a dash cam but somebody recording on a phone i think. why was he recording that bit of path when there is basically nothing there and coincidentally that guy kicks over the kid, straight in the face i might add. weird

It is from a dashcam - video running on a PC you can see the windows taskbar at the start.  They just videoed the computer screen on a cell phone.

Either way, shocking video.  Hope they catch the scumbag.

  9. After a few decent months of iViewHD i signed up again for another month (650 baht) yesterday morning but still have not had my account credited.  Not a good sign and I would of missed the football last night had I not found an alternative...

For anyone interested in football, download Ace Player (on PC, not sure about availability on others) then google "reddit soccer streams" for the link of the game you want.

This will be the last time I buy from iViewHD, that's assuming they haven't gone under already.  I only ever used to watch the football so now I've found an alternative i'm not bothered about the subscription.  Either way, its a decent reminder to only pay month by month for these types of services.

  10. I have a TOT 50/20 fiber connection and I tried a few different streaming services yesterday afternoon before the football started...

Tried KODI first, I couldn't find any good streams on Sports Devil so lost patience with it.

Next was Flawless TV.  Two UK pounds gets you a 48 hour subscription.  I tried all the different ways I could think of to watch this but too much buffering to be watchable.

FYI, i tried streaming it with VLC, setup Perfect Player, setup the app in KODI and also streamed direct from their website.  Even the SD stream of Sky Sports was buffering.

I then signed up for Boom Boom IPTV.  I think it was around 1.50 GBP for the 2 day sub.  Signup process was exactly the same as Flawless.  The only way i could view this service was through their KODI app.  Very little buffering encountered but the picture quality was not so great also not a whole lot of channels to choose from.

As a last resort I signed up for the 3 day free trial with IViewHD.  I received the app password within an hour and downloaded the apk.  The service was Android only so had to dig out an Android box to set it up (I was trying the other service on PC).  I'm glad I did.  This is the best streaming service for live TV I've tried yet.  The app works great, picture quality is very good on most channels and works really well remote controlled (no mouse pointing required).  I watched the Liverpool game on Sky Sports, switched to Bein Sports 7 for the WBA game, then across to BT Sports for Man City.  I think most of the 3pm games were available somewhere on the foreign channels (although only US channels and BeinSports with English commentary).  There was some occasional buffering on BeinSports but not too bad.

I'll sign up for this when the trial runs out.  Only minor issues are that its Android only and payment is only through ATM/Bank transfer - no Paypal.  You can pay COD but i guess that's only if you have bought the service along with an Android box.

Anyway, really happy so far, Tottenham and Man U games to watch tonight.

  11. I have two UK passports.  I've swapped them around at my convenience when entering Thailand and, although they probably know I have two, an Immigration Officer has never mentioned it to me.

Both passports were obtained at the same time, they both have the same photo and exp dates, the only difference is the passport numbers.  One ends in 4, the other has the same number but ends in 5.

I've had a Non O visa in one passport and when it expired used my other passport on visa exempt for over a year without any issues.  I used to get asked if i had a visa but just used to say "No, only staying for 3 weeks" and was always allowed entry.  The worst grilling i had at immigration in Swampy was over two years ago when the IO checked every page of my passport, once I told him i was married to a Thai he asked me to get a visa next time (which i did).  This guy never mentioned my two passports which is surprising if they are supposedly linked.

If i was you, i'd fly back into Thailand and use the new passport.  But of course, if you meet the requirements for a visa, get that first and be sure to take the required cash with you.

  12. I obtained a Non O multiple entry at Savannakhet last month.  Aside from bringing our original marriage cert, wife's ID and house book, I really went unprepared.

I forgot about the photograph required for the Laos visa, luckily i had an old one in my travel wallet.  I filled in the application form at the window and paid 35 USD, he wanted 1500 baht but i asked how much in USD.  I'd missed the bus by this time so got at tuk tuk to the Thai consulate after passing through immigration.   Once there i crossed to the small shop opposite and had some photographs taken and filled in the Visa application form I got from them.  The shop also gave me the required photocopies of the documents i brought with me - I think the wife was required to sign some of them so keep that in mind if your going alone.  I paid 120 baht to the shop for the photos and photocopies.

By this time it was around 10:30am and the applications need to be handed in before 11 but there was nobody else there at the consulate at that time so was just a case of handing in the forms and 5000 THB.

The whole process was pretty easy, if you fill in the Laos Visa and Thai Visa application forms beforehand you can save a little time and a few hundred baht.

  13. I've been using Netflix this morning on an M8S+ Android box. Works very well, the quality has been good for everything I looked at and no buffering. I finished watching the Making a Murderer Netflix series I was watching previously on Kodi. The picture quality is better than any links I could stream on Kodi.

There's no Thai language or subs though also the movie selection is pretty poor.

Looks decent for watching TV shows in HD even if most of them are not the latest episodes. Most of the HD links on Kodi don't work for me anymore so this will be a good alternative.

  14. I got questioned at Swampy immigration last month for having too many visa exempt stamps. There were several years worth in my passport, maybe 30+ entry/exits. Immigration was real quiet and there was nobody in the queue behind me which may have made a difference. I'd guess the officer spent 5 minutes looking through my passport although it felt longer than that. He then asks me what i'm doing in Thailand, so I am thinking i'd better come clean and tell him the truth that i'm visiting my wife and daughter. He then asks where my VIsa is and I tell him i am only staying for 3 weeks and thought i didn't need one. He paused for a moment then stamped me in, maybe he was feeling jai dee or just didn't want the extra paperwork.

I've since got myself a Non Imm O so hopefully I won't have that problem again. Anyone else with a lot of stamps, be aware, they may question you as well.
