  1. Hey, sorry I haven't gotten back to any of the questions yet, and thank you everybody for all the info and support.

I should have said some more information about my dog and what I've done so far, so here it is:

    • My dog is a labrador/chow mix. He's close to 11 years old. I adopted him when he was around 1 year old.
    • The bowel problems started before the bladder or leg problems. He would be lying down and would jump up surprised because he was pooping.
    • A bit later he started dripping pee. It wasn't too bad at first, just a few drips every now and then and sometimes when he was sleeping he would pee and bit more and there would be a puddle.
    • The pooping problems begin to get worse, the dripping pee begin to get worse. I went to one of the local vets (in mainland Trat, Thailand) and he said he's just old. He gave me some calcium pills.
    • Eventually I started noticing some problems with his lower back/butt area. If you touched or scratched that area he would lose a bit of control, either dropping his rear end a bit or jutting his butt out to the side.
    • I moved to the island Koh Chang in Trat and took him to a Thai vet there because he had a pretty bad leg injury (he had a cut I didn't notice and flies got in and laid eggs). We got that fixed up and I asked about the other issues but she wasn't really sure.
    • The leg would just wasn't healing, so someone told me about another doctor on Koh Chang. It's an American lady who has a non-profit clinic there and she's been helping dogs for I think around 10 or 15 years. I went there and she told me the wound cleaning procedure the Thai vet gave me wasn't correct (betadine prevents new tissue growth), so I followed her advice and that worked. I also obviously asked about the other issues and she did give me another pill for him to take for (I believe) 3 weeks. I believe it was for parasites but I'm not certain. I will be emailing her and finding out exactly what it was for.
    • She called me later and said her friend, an Australian veterinarian, is coming to the island and could stop by my house and check out my dog. He came by and checked him out and said there's a good chance he's developed a tumor on his spine which is causing these issues.

That's basically the gist of it. I know I'm forgetting some things. He's definitely not in enough pain to where I'm considering euthanization, but I was just asking to know what options there are. The comments about the tick parasite causing very similar symptoms has given me some hope, so I'm going to pursue that. I just don't think any of the vets here in Trat are equipped for blood tests. Maybe they can send out his blood sample...

Oh one thing I wanted to say (rant) about is the hardest thing so far has just been finding transportation for him. The songteaws will not stop for a dog wearing a diaper. I waited for over 1 hour outside my home trying to get to the vet's office and flagged down over 20 songteaws and none of them would stop. Eventually I hid my dog behind some chairs, but after they would see my dog they would refuse and drive away. Finally somebody called their friend and he took us.

  2. Dogs and more often older ones, can get a disease or parasite from ticks. This can result in back pain and incontinence - we had an older dog that has since passed away that I thought was into her last days. A trip to the vet and a few shots followed by some medication for a week and she went on leading a happy life for another 3 years.

Have your vet do a blood test for a parasite carried by ticks. Most dogs that have had ticks will be affected but more so as they age and their immune response declines with age. Worth a shot to boost him up. You might get a pleasantly surprised at the recovery. Good luck.

Wow, thank you. I have no idea why the vets I talked to didn't check for this. Actually, maybe it's because I live in a pretty small town and they don't have the equipment to test for it?

  3. I brought my dog to Thailand from the states quite a while ago. In the past 2 years he's lost control of his bowels and bladder and his back legs are getting weaker and weaker. When he gets up after lying down, he cries quite a bit so he must be in pain. After he gets up he doesn't cry anymore. He pees all over himself and poops everywhere, but I wash him every day so that's not a big deal. I've taken him to 3 different vets, but they don't really have any answers.

I'm not ready for anything drastic, but since I have to think about it at this point, I asked a Thai friend if euthanization is practiced in Thailand. He said it's not. I also asked my girlfriend and she was shocked that people in other countries euthanize animals who are dying. So I guess euthanization is not an option here.

    So, I have two questions:

    1) What should I do if my dog's condition gets worse and he's in too much pain? Just let him deal with it? Should I give him certain drugs to ease the pain?

    2) When a dog dies, what can I do with the body? Can I have him cremated at the hospital or a temple? A friend said Thai people usually dig a hole and bury the body, but I live in a residential area and that doesn't seem like a good idea.

    Thanks for any advice.

  4. All here at the top of the Apple forum....

You phone Apple / Mac first and then the ticket number can be used at any official repair shop.... They will give you the names and addresses!

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/722640-apple-mac-warranty-centres-in-thailand-official-places/

I saw that post, but it didn't have the office I went to. It's the place the guy at Apple told me to go to. You don't need a ticket number or anything, they can create them there. Again, it's not a computer shop. It's an official Apple warranty office.

  5. I think it's at CentralWorld. Before when I was talking with Apple about sending my computer in for some warranty repairs, they had me go to this small office at CentralWorld (I think). It's not a computer shop. It's an official Apple office where all they do is check out your computer and then send it off for official Apple repairs. There's also an iStudio nearby (I think 1 floor up).

Does anybody have info on this Apple warranty office? I'm trying to find out what days they're open and what their hours are, but I can't find it online. Does anybody have this info?

  6. Virtualbox will give you the ability to run it in a VM for free.....

Yep, Microsoft gives free Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 10 virtual machines for Parellels, VirtualBox, and VMware. They run for 90 days, but just install what you want and then create a snapshot. When the 90 days is almost up you can revert to your snapshot. This is an easy way to do it, but if you really want Windows installed as a true OS, you'll need to use BootCamp.

  7. For the cbr 150, should be 80 000 b with registration and 3 years theft insurance included; 2000 per year. Also should be the new one with dual headlights. If you get the older one, like the photo above, probably can be cheaper.

(Sorry, I replied before you corrected yourself... Ignore this post) From what I could find, the newer CBR with dual headlights isn't available in Thailand yet. Even the official Honda CBR Thailand website only shows the single headlight model. http://www.aphonda.co.th/product/allnew_cbr_150r/

  8. Indonesia has the latest redesigned CBR 150R. It has dual headlights, a different style exhaust, and some cosmetic changes. All the CBRs I see at the Honda dealerships in the town I live in are the older style, with the single headlight and the 2014 style exhaust. Does anybody know if the 2015-style CBR 150's are available in Thailand?

  9. A couple people asked what bikes I'm looking at. I'm looking at the Yamaha YZF R15 and the Honda CBR 150R. Both are 150cc, so nothing powerful, but they both look nice and are plenty fast enough for me. Today I went to Honda and looked at the CBR. I thought it was more expensive than the Yamaha, but they said 80,000 (both Yamaha dealerships said 86k for the R15). Personally, I like the looks of the Yamaha more, however I decided on the Honda. Obviously I'll save 6k, but also the CBR is a bigger bike in every dimension. As a taller guy, the Yamaha felt a bit small. The CBR feels better for me. Also the passenger seat on the Yamaha is way too high up.

  10. As far as I know, there is no haggling. The price is the price. I shopped four dealerships before I bought my bike. All quoted me the same price. As a "bonus" (and I use the term loosely), I received two years of free theft insurance.

Just wondering, did you pay cash or did you get a loan? My Thai friend is saying if you pay cash they'll bring the price down.

  11. This happens all the time here. If you indicate to turn right or left it will be ignored. In fact if you indicate to move into another lane, they will exccelerate as not to let you in. Thai cuture again

This is my space fxxk off.

I wish you luck, and i am sure all will be ok

Seeing someone with their indicators on and accelerating so they can't change lanes is not unique to Thai culture. Apparently you've never lived in a big city.

  12. When buying a new car, you obviously HAVE to haggle the price down or you'll get ripped off. What about buying a brand new motorcycle (sport bike) in Thailand? I went to the Yamaha dealership and asked the price, and they said 86,000 baht. I went to another Yamaha dealership and they said 86,000 also. Could this be the actual price with no room for negotiating? I've never bought a new motorcycle in Thailand so I have no idea. When buying cars in my country they were quick to start knocking the price down, but the Yamaha dealership just said 86,000 and that was it, so I really don't know. I'm going back tomorrow but I wanted to ask here first.

  13. least 1,000 mosquitos around him (probably closer to 2 or 3 thousand

As one poster already said, I think you need to reduce the source of problem, not only for your pet's sake.

Unless you live in a swamp, it's usual to have so many mosquito around at night.

I have a nice large yard for my dog and there is no standing water at my house, but there are neighbors all around me. I'm at the edge of a residential area, so there's no way I can keep all my neighbors from having standing water.

  14. Maybe build him a large kennel with a wooden frame covered in mosquito netting.

I wanted to avoid caging him since when he's caged he just whines constantly, but maybe that is the only option. It could even be pretty simple, basically a metal frame to keep him from coming out the sides (he can't jump) and a few poles to hold up the net. Then I could take it apart easily in the morning. That sounds like a pretty good option actually. Thanks man!

  15. I brought my dog from my home country and the mosquitos have always gone for him, but 3 days ago I moved into a new house near some rubber tree fields and the mosquitos are out of control. I just went to check on my dog and there was a cloud of at least 1,000 mosquitos around him (probably closer to 2 or 3 thousand, but it was dark and hard to see). His nose was COMPLETELY full with mosquitos. I used my electric swatter for about 20 minutes and the ground was covered in dead mosquitos, but they just kept coming in swarms.

My dog is old now and has become incontinent. He can't control when he pees, so the fur on his belly is always wet with urine. I think maybe this attracts them?

I could put a fan outside to make it harder for the mosquitos to fly around him, but since his fur is always wet it would make him cold.

If I use mosquito coils I think the smoke would bother him and he'd go away from it (he wouldn't understand the correlation between no mosquitos and the smoke he's smelling). Maybe I need to keep him on a leash at night and put mosquito coils around him?

If I spray him with mosquito spray he'd just lick it off.

So, does anybody have any ideas? I feel really bad for the old guy. This is the worst amount of mosquitos I've had to deal with in Thailand, and I've lived in some pretty remote places.

    Thank you for any advice.

  16. I originally had the 1GB TrueMove H package, but I ran out of the high-speed 3G before the month was over, so I bought another package (the 5GB package). Now I just got a message saying the 1GB package will automatically renew tomorrow, but I already have the 5GB package with plenty of high speed data left. How can I prevent the 1GB plan from renewing tomorrow? Obviously I have no use for it at all. (You'd think TrueMove's system would be smart enough to see I already have a 3G package...)

  17. Thank you guys for the info. I ended up just buying the 899 3G package again trough that website. I have a new problem now. I just got a text saying the old 350 baht 3G package is going to automatically renew tomorrow. Obviously I don't need this package and don't want it to renew, but I have no idea how to cancel this. Does anyone know how to stop this old package from auto-renewing?

  18. I just saw in another post that you can add an additiona1GB for 150 baht if you dial *900*8903#. I just tried that and it says this "ขออภัยค่ะ คุณไม่สามารถสมัครแพ็คเกจนี้ได้ค่ะ" which means that I can't sign up for this package. I have the 899 baht 5GB plan and it's not expired, so why can't I buy the extra data?
