    My experience of it being approved prior on the date on the under consideration stamp is not good. My wife has called immigration a day or 2 before the report date and they had not received the approval yet. This year she called on Friday since the report date was on a weekend and they did not have the approval back. On Monday morning the officer called her to tell her they had received it. She then went to immigration that afternoon and got my stamp done.

    Thanks for the useful info again. All I can do is try I suppose and if it hasn’t been approved before the 60 days I’ll just have to wait.

  2. Had an issue renewing my yearly extension on dependant visa for being sole guardian to my son the other day also, mine was up country and not in bkk.

    This is my 5th extension I was going for and had all documents x 2 ( salary income for proof of income for 12 months, bank statements, court and amphur docs stating I’m sole guardian, anyway all docs were correct but they was trying there hardest to refuse it or find something wrong!!

    had to go back the following day with a Thai witness saying it was my kid etc etc.

    Wanted my parents names and dates of births, the witness also her families details and their blue books, they was just making it as difficult as possible.


    Also got 60 day under consideration stamp instead of usual 30!!

     

    I don’t understand why this year they made it so difficult…. They made me feel like I was doing something illegal, when everything was in order and all docs correct!!

    I had to sign the papers.

    I’m a single father so this is the reason I bought it in his name , his mother not involved in anyway.

    I suppose it all depends on the office and the person in the office dealing with the signing over. I had to show all my court docs and docs from amphur and it took more or less the whole day as they wasn’t so sure what way to go about it, but got it in my sons name in the end.
    Also the person I bought the house from was there to help me do it all.

    I stay in a small town so hopefully it’s like she says and no issues.... if I don’t get it no big deal just have to show immigration that my sons name is on chanote for my place of residence I suppose as he’s too young to sign any papers he’s only 5.

    Re the bank cheque issue.... I dont think the land office care or have any recourse for checking where the funds came from. I think as long as the foreigner signs the letter saying none of the funds came from him/her then thats all that matters. 

     

    I've had delays with my purchase as the sellers are greedy re the price. its a waiting game now to get the price down.

    Hi all,

     

    Just an update in regards to buying a house in my kids name.

    we completed it today and his name is on chanote, have to go amphur tomorrow and get his name in blue book and have been told a yellow book should be issued to me also.

    I should add I didn’t use my lawyer like I mentioned I was going to, went with person I bought the house from and it was all transferred to my sons name.

    Quite a long day but quite straight forward.

    What a lawyer says can be done, while paying them and what actually can be done, may differ.   Tried to adopt 'my daughter/village orphan' ????(not blood), and even had mother's permission.  Lawyer said no problem.

     

    Checked with family services, the actually Pol. officer who would approve it, and he said no way in hell.  Lawyer would lose, then appeal to Bkk, and lose again, after my huge legal fees paid of course.  Human traffic laws simply wouldn't allow adoption, without a 'fat envelope' being passed.

    What is usufruct? I’ve never heard this before.

    Also like someone else mentioned can I not go ‘manager’?

     

    sorry to hear about your adoption but I believe it’s very difficult to near impossible to adopt in Thailand with what I’ve been reading and been told, so your not the only one.

     

    I would believe getting a child put on the house name would be simpler than adopting.

    Same for the yellow book, some office managers say yes, some say no. You ain't gonna change their mind if they don't like foreigners.

    Yeah that’s correct. Like I said previous reply it’s a small town and getting things their over the years at different offices has been no problems, but like u say if the person i see on that day don’t like foreigners them I’m fkd but hopefully with a lawyer assisting me on the day it’ll make it possible.

    Yeo totally understand mate.

    I think it depends on the land office where you are based also, like all offices in Thailand.
    I stay in a smallish town and all other government offices there are quite relaxed so I’m hoping it’s granted but i will find out when I go for it.

    like I said all I can do is try I suppose, I’d they do say no I’ll need to look at other options.

     

    Let’s say if it does get approved do you know if I’d be entitled to a yellow book or how would it work for immigration as my kid is only 5 and can’t be issuing docs to immigration himself.

    I have full custody of my kid from the courts and amphur so his mum isn’t around and has no say in this matter.

    Any idea how that would work with no Thai mother been involved?

    is it still possible to do what I’m asking?

  11. Hi... I’m wondering if anyone has bought a house / land and put it in their kids name as a trust fund?

    If so how does this work when buying the house and whos name goes on the deeds and blue book etc since I believe the child can’t own it until he/ she is of legal age?

    I’m going to see my lawyer in the next week or so regarding this but want to hear 1st hand accounts from anyone who has did this.

    Also when doing it this way how would it work for immigration of where I am staying, would I be entitled to a yellow book etc?

     

    Any advise pls?

  12. Hi... I wonder if someone can answer my question.... it’s not 100% visa related. I have a single non-o visa in my passport with a re- entry permit while I went to the Uk for work and to get an Indian work visa. The problem is my work used the passport with my re-entry permit to apply for my visa, but I have another Uk passport different passport number which I will have to use to enter Thailand when I return start of December. I understand I will lose the non- o but do you think I will have an issue when doing my finger prints at the airport and they see my name attached to another Uk passport?

    Now this is a bit of a fuzzy point, and you could, since he's a dual citizen try to without it, but from bitter experience it can be a problem without that piece of paper.

     

    I had a very similar experience.

     

    My son is dual US/Thai. You have to show their foreign passport at check in to show they have a legal right of entry to the country you are going to, but at immigration, since they are Thai, they need to provide their Thai passport.

    That's when things get sticky without that form from the amphur.

     

    I spent 40+ minutes at immigration, getting my wife on the phone to talk with the immigration officer, and it was touch and go that they let us depart

     

    Take your wife to the local amphur, expect to spend half a day dealing with Thai bureaucracy, but it'll be worth it

    I was aware of the passport issue when checking in with different passports but thanks for the update.

    and as you mentioned I could try with just his U.K. Passport but there is always the possibility he wouldn't be allowed.

    anyway we will make a trip to the amphur.

  15. Just have a question maybe you  can answer?

    we live together in Thailand, I work offshore and when my trip finishes I go back to Thailand and the house we share.

    but how can we prove this?

    all my passport entry stamps?

    we rent the house and it's in my girlfriends name.

    but I have the form stapled to the back of my passport saying I'm registered staying there.
