  1. The ThaiVisa Forum is a highly active site with lively contributions from a wide range of experts, some local, some visitors and some expats, and it can be a little daunting for a beginner. This Guide should help newcomers compose their first posts:

    1. Remember this is the 'Land of Smiles' with a strong Budhist culture, so try to balance this by being as rude as possible in your postings.

    2. Read every new post carefully to see if the subject has been covered before. If this is that case, a quick reply stating 'can't you read!' will be appreciated by the Original Poster.

    3. If you know nothing on the subject raised in the thread, please contribute anyway.

    4. Always start a reply to a posting by questioning the validity of the OP's statement. Suggesting that he or she may also be lying is always a nice touch.

    5. No matter what the subject, always try to use the words, PAD, PPP and Thaksin as this will ensure a lively thread.

    6. And remember, try to have fun using the site - particulary if this is at someone elses expense.

    Now thats more like it

  2. What I don't quite understand is, why they are not providing a specific "pro forma" schedule, which flights are departing from U-Tapao (doesn't matter which airline) to get a complete overview. For example a simple spreadsheet on the U-Tapao-Homepage or on the TAT-Homepage summarizing each incoming and outgoing flight an every Thai Airports theey are trying to open now for international traffic.

Moreover, I think, that each airline is just concentrating on their own passengers instead of filling the available seats completely with stranded passengers (again: doesn't matter which airline).

I was booked on Emirates this evening to depart BKK heading towards Dubai and then to Frankfurt.

Emirates still only provides flights from KL, Singapur & Hong Kong. After getting in touch with them (German office and Bangkok office), they told me, they are NOT supposed to takeover the costs for the transfer there.

You really don't know whom to get in touch with additionally (Airline? Embassy? TAT? ...?)

Anyway, hope everyone of you is ok out there. Take care and get a safe flight home!

  4. I would be wary of investing any money in the Channel Islands - many people have lost savings as the islands have no Deposit Compensation Scheme. Th Isle of Man has compensation of £50000 per saver but I doubt there is enough in the kitty to pay up if banks went t**s up

Not all Banks in the Isle of Man, The Irish goverment have backed 6 banks 100% Please go to the URL below

  6. My Thai wife will be shipping a container-load of her household items from Fremantle, (Western Australia) to Nakhon Sawan, Thailand in the next few months.

She has been in OZ for over two years.

Can anyone recommend a reliable, reasonably priced agent who can organise the lot door-to-door?

I have done searches on TV but come up with a lot of irrelevant results.

It seems having an agent in Thailand is the best way to go.

Maybe someone else has done a similar exercise from OZ?

    Any advice much appreciated.

  8. If its only the older people, (like some people think it is) who are here for younger girls and sex, then why over the last 10 years we have seen a big increase in youger people from all walks of life in the world coming to Thailand. I didnt see many young people in 1995, 2000 did you.

If you think Thailand or Asia is the only place for Sex, you need to Travel a bit, try Africa or South America.

For the people who live here, the could be a thousand reasons why, but its easier to label people the same isnt it.

My wife studied sociology after 10 years of marriage, thats why we are now divorced I guess.

I have many work friends who live in Thailand, some I worked with over 20 years ago In other countries, they had more sex in them countries than what they do in Thailand. Do you know why, they have seen it, done it and got the T-shirt, but with Thailand they can relate with there friends as they are in the same game for many years and just couldnt live in there home country again.

Difficult to understand for some, but true.
