Depending what you want your offshore account for, is it for basic living or saving, or investment.
I bank in Fortis Bank Luxembourg for my salary and my slush fund is in a saving account there.
HSBC in Isle of Man is a normal current account and I do not pay 20 quid a month charges.
I use this account for basic living expences for my Kids Uni and all that bull.
Any extra I put in to different saving schemes outside them banks.
With the HSBC International you will have to read the small print like every bank read before you open, as there is more charges than you think.
I am with the normal HSBC Bank Isle of Man which is still Goverened by the Isle of Man and being a none Resident for 28 years, its the best way for me.
We are all different due to our working circumstances. I am know expert but I am safe this way.

This is for all you Guys and Girls who think Etihad are good
THE TALE OF THE ARAB FLIGHT CREW Written by To The Point News Friday, 16
May 2008 The brand spanking new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger
airplane ever built, sat in its hangar in Toulouse , France without a single
hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft
Technologies (ADAT) on November 15, 2007 to conduct pre-delivery tests on
the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in
Abu Dhabi . The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then
they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft.
Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an
empty A340-600 really is. The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the
cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers
thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly
(flaps/slats, etc..) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit
breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm. This fools the
aircraft into thinking it is in the air. The computers automatically
released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward.. The ADAT
crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land
with the brakes on. Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart
enough to throttle back the engines from their max power20setting, so the
$200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it.
The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news
blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story
was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to
leak out.

Dr Likpai Warin on Central road(038 720079)Studied in Thailand and US.
I don't (yet???) need implant but one mate living here is VERY happy with his.And I can add I am very happy from the work this dentist made for me.
Prices same same as the one mentionned by onzestan.
I am having 6 done next week when I get home and he has been my dentist for 2 years now and I would recommend him.
Very Good.
Holy Cow......ALL 6 in one week ?
Please, let us have the details....... How long does it take ? all 6 under or top ?
LaoPo
Top set, he has taken x-rays already, I will go for another X-ray on Saturday to check everything has gone back to normal after having 10 teeth out of a 2 month period 4 and then 6 out 5 weeks ago.
He said he takes a blood test with a Nurse present, then they centrifuge the blood to get some analysis. (Dont know Why yet)
Then start on Monday, he said it should take 5 to 6 days to complete, 6 implants and then 3 bridges, total 12 teeth.

Having a house here I come and go on waivers and tourist visas, depending on how long I'll be here. Two weeks ago I flew Samui to Singapore and back, no problems. Last week, checking in at Singapore, they asked to see my exit flight from Thailand. This is the first time is probably 4 years I have had this happen, but this time is different. When I said I didn't have one, they were happy to let me board so long as I signed an indemnity form so that the airline (Bangkok Airways) would not be responsible for my onward flight. Not sure if this applies to all airlines, but it's something for anyone in the same postion - ask for the indemnity form if you get questioned.
I have done that many a time on Emirates from manchester to Bangkok, its normal for one way with out a visa.
You are blessed. You will soon come a cropper. In simple terms, you DO NOT qualify for a 30 day visa exemption without an outbound ticket within 30 days of arrival.
Yes your correct I am Blessed its called a credit card, been working for 28 years around and around the globe.
But you know everything, dont you.

Can someone on ThaiVisa enlighten me considering the following situation.
I am Dutch living and working in Bangkok. I have a job with a Thai company, am on a non-immigrant B and have a Working Permit. So I am secured, my European girlfriend and our son 1 years have come with me and have been living here the past two months on a tourist visa. They are now in their third month and would normally have to leave mid- September. We were planning to get married. What is the best way to go about it to let them stay with me here in Bangkok? Marriage here in Thailand or can I put her as a dependent on my Visa? I make enough money. Or should she go out and get a Non immigrant ED visa (where to get it nearby?). She is in the process in taking over an existing company with the option of getting het own WP but that will take a few months.
So in short: what is the easiest way in letting her and my son stay here, with the littlest trouble?
Any suggestions?
Once you are married your family will be connected to your Residence Visa the company will do all the paper work.
All you need to give them is there passports and marriage Cert.

See this post:

By Monday, you will probably be on overstay. Get the letter from your company, go to the immigration office, apply for the 7-day extension and pay your overstay fine.

Maestro
Its not a problem at all, You dont get a re-entry visa so your
'B' Visa is cancelled as soon as you walk through imirgration.
You can walk back in the next day on a 30 day VOA if you want.
I came back with a 12 month None Img 'O' visa from Hull the same
month. Ive done that three times in the past 13 years.
They will cancel your work permit, or they will have to pay the taxes, its simple.

I am on a Brit passport and have an option for Russian flights that would mean changing from DME (Domodedovo) for the domestic arrival to SVE (Sheremetyevo) for the international departure.
A websurf showed that ground transportation between airports is lacking and I have been told of 'unofficial tax collections' as well as hassles with Transit visas.
Anyone with fresh information out there?
Which airline are you going on, I am on the Emirates International from
DME. I am in flying from Surgat Siberia internal to the same airport.
The both international and national, depends who your flying with.
-
Please someone can tell me,if leaving BKK or KUL is departure tax now included in the airticket price?
Or do you still have to pay it seperate at a booth, ref to Bangkok airport?
Don't know much about KL airport.
And how much time should one allow between international flights, coming from BKK, leaving KUL with AIRASIA?
Airport Tax is included in the Ticket from BKK, If you are in transit at KL I dont think you pay, I didnt two year ago.
1 hour is the minimum for transit at best.

You put your money in a savings account, you cant have current account unless you have a work permit.
Money has to be in 90 days prior to you applying for your retirement extension visa.
Once you have your visa do what you want with the money.
-
One way around the passport "problem" is to get a 2nd passport.
My company arranged a second one whilst I was juggling business and work visa's working in Saudi. I'm not sure its legal but it does come in handy at times, particularly with the 90 day rule.
The trick is not to let anyone in immigration ever see both of them at the same time. One colleague once did this when transferring in UAE and his feet didn't touch the ground as he was put back on the plane he had just arrived on (it was back to Shanghai so he wasn't that unhappy).
Londo
Yes it is legal, had two for 25 years, when I renew one I photo copy the other,
and send it with the one I want renewed. All you need is a letter from your company,
the form and the money.
One two call, I block when I have to ring the x wife in UK, saves her ringing me back
crying she cant aford her new life she wanted so much.
If it works for me, it should do for you.

. They just cant help them selfes and seeing as they get away with it 90% of the time they will always carry on doing it. Even my friend who speaks Very good Thai gets exactly the same double pricing.
Never buy anything that didnt already have the price displayed. your asking for trouble if you have to ask "HOW MUCH?"
lol
Unless you only shop in major company outlets you will be hard pushed to find any prices displayed on goods for sale in private businesses here in Thailand.
You just need to now the average prices of the goods you want to buy and barter with them or shop around and look for the best price.
Its the only way to shop as a farang in Thailand!
Opposite View Taly appartments, you will see Kitchen studio on the corner, look to the right about 15m to 20 metres.
Ive had one 3 piece suit made there and the other one recovered very good price, door to door service.
I dont think I would go anywhere else, and not tourist prices. I cant complain on this one.

Seems the title of the thread is completely wrong.
Cheers
It should say " Mr Mikko kokki Suffering from Complete Memory Loss" While Mr Gizmo with his friend, Mr. Heikki Heikkil try to help out!
Yes I met the young lad in the 5 star Bar, beach road next door to
Mike's Mall. He had his passort and 40 THB with him, the lights were on
but knowbody was at home.
My Misses said it looked like he had been passed a micky finn (Ha Ha)
The girls in there were trying to look after him, eventually I got him a
room in the hotel behind the 5 star bar.
We got in touch with the Tourist police which came within 1 hour and
they said we will let him sleep and maybe he can remember tomorrow.
They said his Mother and Father where flying out from Finnland and were
expected in the next day as the Finnish consulate were all so involved in
locating him.
I thank all the staff at the 5 Star Bar for taking him in and Lek the cashire
who did everything she could for him.
Conclusion, No head injuries at all, clean and tidy, more likely Lady boy
spiked his drink according to my Mrs and robbed him at the bar. Will take
2 or 3 days to remeber if he can at all.
Dont know anything else as I had to fly back to Siberia where I work.
But hopefully he is Ok and back with his family, I will find out from the 5 star
on the 30th.

Bangkok-London-Bangkok: Charges 230USD EXTRA for aviation fuel increases... Hmmmm... Say 400 Passengers on a 747-400 on average: 400x230USD = 92,000 USD. The distance Bangkok to London and back to Bangkok is approx. 12,000 Miles. So thats an exta of 7.67 USD per Mile! Does anybody have an idea of how much fuel a 747-400 needs per Mile? And how much is a liter of aviation fuel. Just wondering

A surcharge is payable after you have bought your ticket, how can it be before.
Read Emirates Rules and Notices
Page 11
Section 4.3
If there is a surcharge you will be contacted, different airlines start the surcharge on different dates.
-
The average fuel consuption is (3 Litres) per 100Km per passenger, the A380 is (5 Litres) per 100 km per passenger.
A surcharge is after you buy your ticket, and pay at departure.
Emirates prices have been going up every month since December, My ticket BKK Via DXB to Karachi/ Return was 1195 pounds sterling Business class.
Its now 2,100 pounds sterling, I fly every 28 days and each ticket just went up 10% each month.
Just been on Emirates web booking, BKK via DXB Manchester 107,565 THB 20th June out 1 Aug Return Economy.
My mate paid 120,000THb Business class in Jan to Newcastle.
They are climbing quickly.

Ive always found the UK Immigration at Manchester fantastic.

Naam i dont think i want to continue this post. have a great idle life
what part of "we are neither bone idle nor bored but busy" is it that you don't understand Hanibal?
Totally Agreed on that one Naam, I work 28 on 28 off in a crap isolated place, now why would I want to do all the chores at home when I come back.
I can have a very good house keeper looking after my home even when Im away 6 days a week and does everything.
Takes care of the dogs, kicks the gardeners arse for not doing it right.
To me putting some money back in the local community is all so a good thing anyway.
-
Mrs not working, Toyota allowed us to pay 200,000 THB down payment and then pay over 3 years 17,800 THB per month I think.
Car price 757,000 THB, with the loan we pay total, 840,000 THB.
-
Now the Football season is over I dont recall anything else worth watching.
They repeat that much rubbish anyway, over the month you would see the same thing
4 or 5 times anyway. Just stay one night and save all that money.

My wife learnt English school in Thailand, when she came over here in Sydney and met me, she was always coming out drinking with me and all our friends only speak English so she picked it up really good. When she is drunk it seems her english is flawless.
That is strange, Im the same when I get drunk as well, I cant remember what I said, but the wife was impressed with it everytime.

I brainstorm about it, but I can't think of a twin for Pattaya. It really is so unique.
Disney World, with all the best rides in the biggest theme park in the world.
