  1. The Hooters in Phuket is allied to the Hard Rock and I would expect it to be the same here. The one in Patong has an outside circular bar and tables and an indoor area (minimal due to design). I don't see how outside tables would affect their business. They just need somewhere big enough. North Pattaya? Ummmm large cleared plot where Windmill (?) was.

  2. I have read on another site that as of June 8th 2015 British driving licence holders wishing to be hire a car in the UK will need to log onto a website and enter their driving licence number and NI number. This will generate a code which you will need to provide to the rental agent.

Apparently this has to do with the abolition of the paper part of the driving licence and the code will let the agent know how many points/disquals/etc you have against your licence.

Now... what was my NI number again?

confirmed in this article from the Grauniad

  3. I've got 3 of those PHDs.... All it took was a visit to Kho Sarn Rd. While I was there I got a Driving Licence and an Israeli passport ..... All totally useless even if genuine.

  4. I had one of the SME cards after losing my old style one. I protested and they said it was the only one available to me and that it had insurance. Anyway I wasn't going to push it for 800 thb and took it. 4 days later I left the new one in an ATM!!

Off I went to the bank and walked up to the counter and the same girl just looked at me and said ' I told you you needed insurance!!'...... we both burst out laughing and I walked out with an new card FOC.

  5. Big C employ Head Bakers who are foreigners. But do you really think that he makes every one of the huge selection of breads and cakes that they make?

No.. of course not. There are Thai bakers as well. The foreigner is there to make sure that the standards are kept and new lines are created, taught and brought to market.

At Au Bon Pain they don't generally have a full kitchen so it is a case of popping ready prepared items into the oven to either reheat or bake. Hotel kitchens may have a foreign head chef and he/she will cook some items but most are cooked by the sous-chefs and the brigade under his supervision.

  6. This may well be an odd request but I am looking for an active falconer, preferably in Pattaya, who would be interested in flying his bird locally as a form of avian pest control on 2 high rise buildings.

This would not include killing the pigeons but actively scaring them and thus making them choose somewhere else to roost and nest.

Thanks for any help on this.

  7. Dons BBQ on Nanai Rd.... great buffet, all you can eat for 249 thb every Saturday and Sunday evenings. Western BBQ and Thai food. Great staff and a really nice owner. No view but a great place.
