I have lived here in Thailand for many years , I fully understand how Pattaya is and many many other places , however we are moving here for the expat lifestyle in the area ,food, activities and other expat friends, not for the nightlife

My point exactly. Saakura... an apology is appropriate... unless the WiFi in Soi 6 is on the blink.

Judging by the morgue that was Pattaya when I was down earlier last week, the word has probably already been put about by tour operators. Picking a room on agoda was like shooting fish in a barrel with places taking off 60% and more. I paid £25 a night for a huge top-floor suite with a sea view. Even the 3-to-4 star places between Beach and Second that typically command £80 and up were half-price.

The place will snap right back and nobody will be aggrieved or anything like it.

Western tourists have been down year on year for about 8 years already.

Loads of Chinese and Indians filling beds and buses though.

Dangerous after one nights closure? How on earth did they manage the Buddhist Lent observances and elections that straddled weekends in the past? Many fatalities were there?

Stop trying to bugger up other people's Nirvana will you?

I am so glad that Pattaya has eventually chosen to accept the

British Pound as its' currency. Maybe now I can offload those pesky Pound coins which have out of date in the UK.

There is a problem with cyano-acrylate in as much as it does weaken over time when exposed to water.

Used to sell it as a sales engineer for Loctite and it wasn't recommended for wet situations.

can you get Loctite over here?

Depends on the OS. Windows is of course doomed from birth. It was designed with an NSA back door. Apple OS is good but "closed" (you don't know what's inside). I run Linux, which won't allow any installation of anything without  "root" (god) permission. All Linux code is open source, ie thousands of very smart, very angry folk check it constantly for bugs. Bugs are fixed in hours. Updates are automatic, according to importance. Keyloggers don't work because they need to be installed. Viruses don't work, unless you're on your fourth martini and go #.

At "blackhat" conventions, a yearly prize is given to hackers who can "break" a machine. Windows is a joke - 5 minutes. Mac - 20 minutes. Linux - not yet.

However, the computer and OS may be smart but the operator is the problem. Three yr olds, no matter how cute,  should not drive Ferraris. Clicktards, who click on anything shiny, are the gateway for "pwning" a machine. Do you open your door to a stranger? Pick up cute hitchhikers? Accept drinks in a bar from anyone? Then stay away from computers.

PS I install Linux on friends' machines after they tire of Windows' stupid bloated system & useless help. No complaints so far. You can make Linux look exactly like Windows (ugh) or run it far better. And Linux & all its apps are free.

Are you in Pattaya? I would like to try Linux on a machine... thanks

  5. Try taking the Baht bus from the beginning of Soi Boukeaw ( if you are coming from Tai) at the market and going along to just after the second Tesco Lotus.

There is quite a large food market there.

Loads of choice , cheap as chips and very few Iranians on the bus. There is at least one Israeli establishment as well, if that helps, however it does not have many good reviews.
