  1. Hello everybody,

Does anybody know of a bank in Phuket where they would allow it? I tried Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and Krungsri at Jungceylon and they all say no. They all have the machine and the Amex logo (ecxept BB). The only one who gave me an explanation was the latter who said they only do it with Visa and MC (Which I used last year without any problem). I wonder if they cannot do it or just don't want to do it...

thank you in advance for any help.

    Roger

  2. Hello Everybody,

I would like to give you a fresh update on the subject matter and share a very positive experience.

After reading this wonderful post (thank you again for this) I went to a small Bangkok Bank branch in Bang Tao, Phuket. Take note I am not their customer nor they knew me before. I walked in with my US Visa debit card in hand, show it to a representative and say Can you do cash advance (from reading your post I got the idea this is their favorite word)? He immediately said yes and asked for my passport. I was quite shocked as at least I expected to be told to go outside and use the ATM. A lady came immediately, asked me the amount (30.000 THB), processed the card and took the receipts. Then she did all the copies (passport and card), made me sign everything and gave me the cash. It took me less than 10 minutes. As I also have an Amex card, in the end I asked the lady if they take that card as well, but she said no. I wanted to add this information as the letter published in the OP mentioned Amex as well. I don't know if this limitation apply only to this particular branch or that information is incorrect.

    I hope this helps.

    Best to all,

    Rogerpilly

I forgot to mention, I got the exact VISA exchange rate for today!

  3. Hi,

I have the same type of visa. Like other members said, you are allowed to stay for a maximum of 90 consecutive days, then you have to exit and you get another 90 days. You can repeat the procedure until your visa expires, in your case your last entry must be by November 4th 2015. If you never left Thailand since your entry in December, you are definitively on overstay and must leave asap. You will be required to pay a fine of 20.000 baht. It is also possible you will be banned from re entry, but I am not sure about this. You need to check with immigration asap. Good luck

  4. Of course I do not blame the victim, but seriously, why do teenage tourists think getting drunk in a 3rd world country and wandering around like it's Disney World. Most Thai people have little and nothing to lose, they are not governed by the same controls found in the Nanny states. Tourist need to relaize that coming here and getting drunk and stoned and taking chances is not a good idea. I hope the catch the rapist and throw away the key, but of course, they will likely get 3 yrs, and then only if they are over 18.

You just did blame the victim.

Why do holiday makers think they can wear a bikini in when on holiday.

Why did the man have his money in his pocket when he was drinking.

Why did the girl smile and chat with the taxi driver.

It is your attitude that continues to give excuses to violent behaviour.

She is on holiday. She went out for drinks. She walked back to her hotel. She chatted to some friendly motorcycle guys. As you chat with friendly girls.

Maybe they offered her a ride back to the hotel.

    She did nothing wrong.

This government needs to step up punishment of offences against foreigners.especially crimes of rape and violence. Nobody cares about a bag snatch or a scam here and there for a few hundred baht. The violence against foreigners in this country is the worst in the entire world.

So, by your reasoning, it would also be okay to go around the streets of Rio de Janeiro with a nice Rolex on your wrist? Sure it is okay as long as you don't cry when they cut your arm off to steal it.

For the other poster: this has nothing to do with Judaism or Christianity. It is just common sense...

  5. I don't know where you live, but if you want to be 100% sure not to be hassled, you need to fly in. I am in your exact situation and I was tempted to go to Ranong, but I heard people who got denied, I didn't want to take any chance. I flew out to KL from Phuket twice, first time I spent 2 night in KL, second time only 1. No question asked at immigration. I booked the flight in advance, so in the end the difference in cost was minimal.

    Good luck!

  6. I have been living in Bang Tao for almost 3 years. I don't like Thalang, except for the new Makro, which is much closer than the one in town. What the other memebers told you is absolutely correct. It is a place for Thai people, if you understand what I mean.

I think if you want something quite but not too quite and suitable for farangs, I suggest Bang Tao/Cherngtalay. You have a very good Villa Market at Boat Avenue, Tesco Lotus, a decent gym, very good restaurants, you are very close to Laguna, only 15 km away from Patong and 20 from Central/Phuket Town. The beach in Bang Tao is good, but you are close to wonderful beaches like Layan, Nay Yang and Nay Thon. And not too far away (25 Km) from the absolute best beach in Phuket, which is Mai Khao.

Just stay away from Muslim areas, unless you like to be screamed in your ears at 5 am. PM me if you need more info.

  7. Hello guys,

I apologize for asking the same questions again, but unfortunately the reports of getting a visa in the region are quite outdated. These 2 questions referrs to 2 different friends of mine with 2 different situations. One has WP, the other one doesn't.

    Question 1:

Does anybody know if it is still possible to get a Multiple Entry non B with WP in the region and where?

    Question 2:

My friend who doesn't have a WP sent an email to Hong Kong asking if it possible to get the above. Their answer was that it might be possible... quite vague. My knowledge tells me they don't do it in the area, so it sounds suspicius to me. Does anybody has an experience with Hong Kong lately?

Thank you very much for your help!

  8. I have the same problem with accessing international websites in the evening. Most live streaming, which is nearly impossible. I tried with different DNS, it didn't make any difference. My understanding is they cut international bandwidth during peak time to save money. I have a question: is 3bb better in this matter?

    Thank you.

In my experience 3bb is one of the better ones.

But it also depends on the location and how dense the internet connections are.

I have 3bb fiber and i'm normally very happy about it. General download speed is around 6 mb from the USA.

Thank you for your answer. I wasn't very clear in my post. My problem is with latency, not necessarily speed. What is your ping?

    Thanks.

  10. Hello,

Has anybody had a recent experience with Andaman Club visa run holding a Multiple Entry B Visa?

Last report I read was back in October from a memeber who successfully did it with Multiple O. I think it should work for Multiple B as well. Anybody can confirm?

Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you very much!

    I forgot to mention I don't have a WP.

  11. I want a lounge chair, I want an umbrella, I want someone to delivery me food, I want to get a massage on the beach, this is why we came here. We want to relax enjoy our self that why they pay all that money to fly here. You are going to lose them slowly, they will never return. Good going Phuket and TAT your screw evgerything up again.

Not exactly, my friend. Chinese (and generally speaking all asians) don't care about beach regulations as they don't go to the beach, except a few exceptions of course. This is going to affect Europeans mostly and this the direction the authorities want to take. Don't think this is a coincidence but a well thought plan. Like another member pointed out in another thread, expect more yelling and spitting for the time to come...
