  1. Marko bacon is fine if you like the white slime that comes off it while cooking.....full of water.

    Horrible stuff. Worst I have ever had....does not even brown. I think it's local Bangkok Brand without the stink they put in it. They then sell it as international quality...but it is not.

    As for as sausage...I prefer the sausage patties at sausage king. The skin cased pork and beef sausages are not my cup of tea. (I don't drink that either).

    Coffee and good old Jimmy Deans American patty sausages......... a winner.

  2. Probably true, that a certified "Electrician" will want more. And, you probably don't really need a "certified" guy. True you could do it yourself...but I don't like bending over or climbing ladders....

    Last house I was in, there was an addition that was hot wired to the outside wire. When I switched the circuit breaker off, that room was still live. Close call for me, as I assumed the power was off. I had hired a Thai to wire that room, and just for the afternoon, we paid him 1000 plus a snack and coke. He checked the current with a voltmeter.....wisely enough. Saved my life, and his.

    You can go with that....as long as they got experience and come recommended by a neighbor/friend.

    There an older english gentleman down the street who hires a guy just out my front gate. He does electrical and aircon reconditioning/cleaning. Probably a snap for him.

    I cannot guarantee his work, but my neighbor swears by him. He had 4 aircon units cleaned and wiring checked for 500 baht total

  3. Cool man!

    It's an upmarket drawer/cabinet/cupboard door pull.

    And, thank you, everyone, for being kind and not saying that I'm a cretin for not immediately knowing this!

    As I mentioned before, our house has no furniture/fixtures/decoration of this hotel/condo/pool villa type,so I didn't even think of handles! We have wooden stuff mainly.

    ohmy.png)

    ok...knobby.

  4. You know labor is 300 baht per day.

    As for the light bulbs, you only need one thai to hold the bulb. However...at least three more to turn the chair.

    Realistically.... 500 baht per day for an electrician...300 for an assistant.

    (but I would give them a hefty tip and some lunch)

    You might not find an electrician who shows up at Maison Farang for just 500. You could give him 1000 and just let him finish whenever. I bet he does it in one day.

    Pretty fair.

    Note: make sure the worker has all his own tools. If he shows up and starts asking for tools, then that would be just awful. Tools, ladders....etc. Expect a few trips to the hardware store for odds and ends.

    If you find one for 1000 per day (or less), and he does a good job...send me a private email with his phone number and first name. I have similar work (for one day). 6 outlets to be replaced, and repair 2 outdoor post lights along with a very high and dangerous staircase light (impossible for me to reach..and the wiring is shorted out)

  5. Lasted seven years, came back last fall.

    Cost of living is cheaper here, better quality of life, and:

    People smile without hoping for anything other than a smile back;

    Haven't heard a single dog bark in three months, let alone been attacked by a pack of them;

    No burning of plastic;

    No loud music, caterwauling as the moon sets, or unbridled exhaust;

    Haven't seen one person pick their nose. Nope, not even the person preparing my food ...

    Were there good things about my time in Thailand? Sure, but no where near enough to consider living there any longer, let alone dying there.

    My wife is joining me in April. We have a bucket list in the first month that includes:

    The Grand Canyon- camping and rafting;

    Las Vegas- attending a Cirque de Sol show, and, in the casinos, losing money;

    Driving north from San Diego through Malibu, sailing to and about Catalina, then taking Hwy 1 up the coast into Washington State and eventually Victoria, B.C. We'll stop at wineries and cheese farms along the way, detouring for camping in Sequoia National Park, and Redwood National Forest. Then Yosemite and back over to the coast ….

    Absolutely no way I would consider wasting another precious day of life in LOS.

    You are picking up where I left off. I owned a home in Lake Tahoe, and then mistakenly sold it and bought one in San Diego County. Lost on the last (with a divorce)...and stuck it out in Thailand for four years..and Philippines 16 years.

    The divorce was a mistake...we could of worked it out... living apart. Lost beautiful opportunities on the west coast....forever. So good luck.

    However..prepare yourself for some sticker shock on hotels and restaurants.... Expect a decent room to be 3 times higher.....and restaurants double or triple.

  6. That is one creepy story......

    unlucky dead people, when ground up and boiled, are good luck?

    What happens when they run out of dead corpses? do they make more?

    do unlucky dead farang bodies bring higher winnings?

    Dual Pricing? Fleeced once is just not good enough anymore.

  7. I'm bewildered why an adult would want to get circumcised anyway?

    Perhaps wanted to convert to the Jewish faith.

    More likely, he wanted the high and tight look.

    anyways....he probably won't be doing this a second time. Furthermore, his sex life is pretty much over for quite a while. All that hooker money can buy him a new cellphone.

  8. It is much worse...the mom was probably shot and killed.....just to have the tusks sawed off.

    Her baby, mourning at her side, was locked in a cage for 2 months and transported to Phuket.

    She has been chained there, for what seems to her to be an eternity...eating junk food and posing

    with fat tourists....half blinded by the flashes. Now half mad, she sways from side to side...and has

    visions of growing her own tusks, with which to gore the stomachs out of passing tourists...Just waiting.

    Do mum's have tusks?

    I stand corrected....only ladyboy elephants have tusks.

    switch the scenario to "father" vice mom...... ok..I embellished...but still sad.

  9. We all love your story, because most of us had similar ones......and this is no joke...we all had broken hearts in Asia.....

    The second time I came backpacking to Asia, some 27/28 years ago I fell deeply in love with a really nice girl in Chiang Mai.....and I also taught, this is the one. The one I am going to stay with for ever......she was not like all the others, she was different.

    It happened that I had a multiple country air ticket with Philippine airlines 6 months validity,Thailand, Indonesia , Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand again,....at this time. True a good friend in a travel agency in Europe I could get a great deal on this flights, I had to pay for the furthest destination (Europe-Indonesia) and got two free stops, every additional stop was only approximatively a 1000 thb extra....

    Bummer,....I felll in love on the first stretch of my travel, in Chiang Mai.....so I still had to go to all the other country's..... witch I was a bit reluctant to....but it was such a good deal, so I decided to continued my trip. My girlfriend came with me to Bangkok and we separated with great regret in the airport,......the way she cried made me feel so much in love. My exotic girlfriend,......!

    My next country was the Philippines, where I met gorgeous exotic girls again, and so easy to get, but I was so in love with my Exotic Thai girl that I did not have a taste. I had planned to stay one month in every country so I travelled only 14 days in the Philippines in stead. Next stop, Indonesia ? the same I met great looking girls and in Jokjakarta and Bali....and despite it was a Muslim country some were so easy to get, but I did nothing, I had no feeling to cheat on my girlfriend. Instead of one month Indonesia I stayed 14 days. Next stop, Vietnam, you guest it, same same, so much in love with my Thai girl ! that I never wanted to cheat her,.....despite all the gorgeously beautiful girls that were willing to stay with me,.....to make a long story a bit shorter.....I came back to Thailand after cutting short all my trips,....and when I got back to Chiang Mai to see the love of my life !!! she was with another guy !!!.....and she told me she met him on the train that got her back to Chiang Mai just after we left each other in tears in Bangkok....

    Its just a story happening to me some 27/28 years ago, needless to say, I learned a great lesson there. I was young and I took it as a lesson, as it had some Influence in my further life. I learned from it in different levels.

    The next years I had the same deal with Philippine airlines and I did all this countries again for a few consecutive years every 6 months for some ten years. I had Girlfriends in all those countries, short, and long time ones. Until Philippine international Airlines got bankrupted, not due to my travels, but the man in charge of Philippine Airlines was a playboy and was more on golf courses than taking care of business.....I still fell in love hundreds of times after that but it was one of the best lessons that really counted in my further life...a great character builder...

    I married the right woman some 15 /16 years later but I had the experience to know it was the right one.... and I met my Thai wife by accident without looking for it.....

    I will not tell you what to do, or not to do, make your own decisions and bare the consequences. such is life welcome to the real world.

    I hope you learn something from it,....You are young ! follow your heart, and if it brakes ? fall in love again, and again, and never stop falling in love....life is so great, live it ! take everything as a lesson....good or bad.....learn from your mistakes. and from other people's mistakes. ...

    Best regards.

    Nice trip...met girls all around. Manage to see anything else interesting?
