  1. Guys just and ad, i am blaming BUT NOT blaming the life guards, i am blaming the Authorities for not training these guys better, but will take the tourist Buck at a premium for theirt own greed and NOT put it back into where it should, and thats to make this place better for the tourist, which will make it better for them! A win win scenario in an educated society!

  2. What utter BS Re the rebuttal by the "lifeguard Boss" which is a joke in itself... "life guard" or "protect" life.... but it seems more like, take life through bashing someone, THAT"S NO LIFEGUARD! Can u imagine an Ambulance/paramedic, just getting the shits and start shaping up and wanting to bash someone? GET YOUR ACT together Thailand!

I live here and there were NO BIG WAVES that day.... its blowing "OFFSHORE" this time of year, soo for the people who dont know, it makes the seas/swell, hitting the beaches calmer. In the wet season it blows onshore and hence... bigger swell hitting the beaches on the west coast of Phuket i am referring too and is relevant to this article.

For those who dont remember or know what happens here, the "wet" or "off season" is when, said big swells roll in, is the time when many farang tourists die at the hands of the "SAME" lifeguards.... go figure! Die through lack of skill and or training or support from the people who pay their meagher salary in the times when they REALLY should be doing their "job-description" in earnest when its required, OR in the " low season" no swell, get bashed and use an excuse like they were fed up with dealing with "irrational farangs in big seas"... ROFL, do they think we are all so STUPID? These same powers to be, cant educate their public servant staff ie lifeguards in this instance not to be confused with the BIB, on looking after the tourists and controlling themselves like any normal person can and SHOULD do, when paid with having the responsibility to look after the tourist? <deleted> Its just the same turd news example, in a different wrapper.....boring as usual!coffee1.gif

  3. I gotta agree, its the same in Phuket, u dont hear about the bashings murders and suspect suicides at all in the media, its just on here that u hear about it....the problem is, it happens everyday!

This won't slow down tourism there.

How many check for sinister news stories when booking a ticket?

    You're kidding, right?

    Nope.

The only reason I know is from being a member here. How did you find out?

Stories like this don't even make the news in most countries.

Plenty of murders happen in Thailand, it's not these things that stop tourists. You stop and think to keep your wits about you perhaps, but still holiday there.

Let's see how tourist numbers drop from this particular case.

  4. I am over thailand, all this news is boring, its the same regurgitated crap over and over again.... the majority of thais working in the industry are uneducated criminals who have shot themselves in the foot, by scamming, bashing and murdering their "bread and butter".... ie the farang tourists and ex-pats spending their hard earned cash... SHAME Thailand i have seen u go down hill fast, but you are too stupid to realize what you are doing.... I hope the inept morons in control finally understand what their lies, deceit and inability to look after their livelihoods have done to their tourist economy..... OH wait, that will never happen.. rofl

  5. wow......they will tell the Thais that animals will carry the disease so they DONT worry about human interaction, which is the real transmitter and how Thai society exist through the "face to face" interaction we all here face on a daily basis, which is more so than in Western cultures, ahead with technology.....

I have seen in other Countries how they have initiated this scare campaign to perpetuate the NWO, with other, more familiar "cultural ideals".. SAD State for OUR world... remember there needs to be a Global "catastrophe" to initiate a Global change I feel! Its devious how the they can try and scare /prepare all different cultures about the same campaign with different methods ALL can understand. Take care, TIMES ARE CHANGING!!!

  6. It.s just about the start of the High Season again, all the crooks lady/prostitutes with $$$$$ signs in their eyes arriving to rip-off the unsuspecting trusting tourists wanting to have a great holiday and so many/too many deaths already!!!

I am at a loss with this place, death everyday here "now" in Phuket, i will be glad to have a break from this carnage at months end.... back home for high season.... i honestly thought when we had the coup, things were FINALLY looking up.....but alas, still unnecessary deaths because there is ZERO duty of care shown by the grubby element of Thai society and the piss weak authorities dont give a rats arse.......If it was my Son or brother,I would lodge a civil suit against the operator, local authorities and the TAT and make it as public as i could so all can see what this place is REALLY LIKE, as its their responsibility to ensure the safety of others before renting out a potentially deadly piece of machinery......Just like the motorbikes, they rent out to all and sundry NO questions asked, then the corrupt BIB, book them down the road for NOT having a license....

HELLO, why doesn't the corrupt BIB stop the vendors from renting to folk without licenses in the first place so we can curb all the unnecessary farang deaths on bikes as well? We all know the reason for this dont we! I have had this debate with a few BIB before, the answers are just buck-passing and defy logic, what an absolute joke! I do love this place' but i get awfully frustrated sometimes, especially when some poor bugger loses their life as a dIrect consequence of a GREEDY Thai......... i live in thailand, work and pay tax in thailand, married to a thai, have land up North and have many lovely Thai friends.....BUT, I have had a gun pointed to my head and been bashed by Thai's in groups as they are cowards and why, because i am a farang and they are jealous or whatever and because I dont take "all" their crap, so i am qualified to put my 2 cents worth in....just my rant, coz i see this everyday and it is NOT getting better and no-one in thailand the LOS (LAND OF SCAMS) EVEN CARES!!! Its a shame for the country and all the descent Thai's out there ... please BE SAFE EVERYONE!!

Scott - this is Thailand this is how it is. suggest your ticket should be one way if you don't like it.

Unnecessary farang deaths on bikes are caused by farangs on bikes. How often have you seen a group of people on 3 mopeds, that costs more than renting a car - why are they not in a car, there choice, there life. STOP blaming the Thai's.

Guess what, and I am not saying it is right, but if you DONT want get beaten up or have gun pointed at your head - you do have to put up with their crap. You are 'qualified' to put your 2 cents in, and a group of 8 guys are 'qualified' to beat you up and point a gun at you.

And again, reasonable point to suggest he lost his life as much to his own foolishness as a result of a greedy Thai. I would love to know what business you are in as there are probably plenty times when you could have possibly have made a safe decision but opted to take the one that makes you more money. just about every one every where in the world does it, I doubt you would be different.

Hi Graeme, you dont know me and i certainly dont need or want to explain my experiences on an internet forum, i only read news on this site thats all and i am frustrated with all the deaths of farang expats and tourists, is that difficult to understand? What gives you the right to suggest a 1 way ticket....

All I will say, is my experiences were a result of thai's losing face justifiably and rightly so in this example.....So like that other grub said its my fault because i have a Business in another country, I pay all my taxes etc and obey Thai Law, because i am a farang I have to accept being subjected to that treatment? FYI' the ThaI was locked up after the gun incident, so its against thelaw and you seem to think it wasok because its thailand? lol Sorry mate, i dont agree. I find it difficult to understand the mindset of people these days.....I take everyday as it comes and certainly have a higher value of l5fe than some and try to treat everyone how I want to be treated. RIP to this poor guy.

  7. It.s just about the start of the High Season again, all the crooks lady/prostitutes with $$$$$ signs in their eyes arriving to rip-off the unsuspecting trusting tourists wanting to have a great holiday and so many/too many deaths already!!!

    "Unsuspecting and Trusting"??

Russians have more street sense by age 5 than most Americans at age 40.

The victim was a grown man who was out there having fun and accepted the risk.

    Happens all the time.

What a crock! So your argument is based on the general absurd statement that Russians are street smart at 5, which negates the clear breech of duty of care causing death!...,ROFL You have No idea on the Legalities of this topic obviously! Go tell the grieving relatives what you said you grub, you are no better than these crooks' thinking life is soo cheap! I care about peoples welfare and try to instill these values in my thai staff as well as my kids, like i was brought up, what about if this guy had never used a jet-ski before, he wouldn't know the risks would he...... did the thai's tell him those risks? I highly doubt it!! .

Are you American? With a statement like that, it clearly confirms you are correct' that "some" (and I wont tar all with the same brush like you have) Americans do have the intellect of a 5 yo when 40, you only have to observe the sad state of the USA now.....the laughing stock of the world.... You insensitive <removed>!

  9. I thought they said there was no coup.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

That joke is about 14 hours old get with the program things move fast in Thailand. Here you can use this one I came up with it last night. You hear the new story about 7-11 in Thailand? They are renaming 5-10 because of the coup! *snare drum*

Mate, you may have to explain that one, for some of less sharp tools in the shed...just like most jokes here.... lol

  10. Sorry if this sounds a silly question, but i have not been in any Country when this has happened...... I have to go to Cambodia to get a Non-B Visa next week, flying from BKK to Phnom Phen, this "should" be ok do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for the answer. smile.png

There are a few reports of some border crossings being closed. But the airports are operating as normal. By air you should not have any problem.

Thanks Mario, I have to be out of the Country anyway at that time, so i'll give it a crack and let everyone know if i succeed or not... Be safe everyone... :)

  11. Tourist riders are a "hazzard" here in Phuket, there is ONLY one way for locals to ride in Phukets main tourist areas and that's DEFENSIVELY!

Here's my list in order of dangerous drivers gained through experience over the years.......

First its the chinese riders who ride on the wrong side of the road, with their missus taking pics and chatting away to their 4 eyed husband driver who when NOT riding the wrong way around roundabouts, is gorking at the scenery and not the road or traffic around them, atleast they ride slow and are easily avoidable when noticed up ahead.

Then theres the complete idiot Euro's, Italians mainly, who ride 100km/h weaving in and out of traffic causing everyone else in their wake and oncoming traffic, to ride/drive defensively to avoid crashing, careless di ** heads.

Then the lebs, who need a penile extension and ride the Tmax 300cc in city traffic environment conditions, when a 150cc is the max you could use.....yelling to all the massage girls as they go by, so col habbibi! NOT

Then the drunken Aussies who most brandish bandaged and scars from riding pissed.....fortunately i manage to avoid these idiots because i dont ride when going out for a drink at night.

All these people are is hazards to everyone who live here, NO ONE should be allowed to ride unless they have a license and stick to the road rules.

IF you can't ride like complete idiots in your own country, why come here and risk everyones lives around you.

I admit there are others, locals included who aren't the best riders, but if you're aware of how the locals use the roads and give way to each other in this razy environment, it does work most of the time.

    I HATE high-season with a passion!!!!

    Just my opinion.

    Cheers

    S

Just an added note: It doesnt help when the roads are a complete joke with virtually no planning causing complete kaos, this also adds to the accident numbers.

  12. HURRY up with the "quality" tourists as its pretty horrendous here ATM.... lol

Just riding home from work in one piece is a struggle without all the folks showing off on their rent a bikes. Gotta love high season. hehe

  13. I find in Phuket, its the tourists that are the danger... in low season i rarely see an accident, whereas in contrast, in high season i see an accident almost everyday and most are farangs.

As another coupe of posters said, if you know how the locals drive and the road rules they use, its an easier drive, BUT you still have to be VERY AWARE at ALL times and its much more dangerous here than back in Oz......

    Cheers.

  14. “Honestly, I can’t really confirm that the DSI will go all the way to fixing these problems, but I see problems that have already started to be resolved, so we need to support them.”

Is he serious????? Is that the disclaimer to negate him from having to do anything or take responsibility just a little bit! What a f.ing joke!!!

    off topic a bit:

IMO, because i see some poor bastard lying on the road in a bloody mess daily now its coming into high season, why don't they stop the cops from handing out 500baht fines to every farang that doesn't have a motorcycle license OR the better way, why dont they enforce the "renter" of said motorbikes to only hire to people that have a license.....now this will stop a major amount of accidents i see............ oh because then the renters wont be able to rip off the farang and the cops dont get their fine money, which will run into the millions by season end.

What ever happened to duty of care by these people? Shit i thought i was back in Oz for a second. lmao.

  15. I live at karon for past 2 years and go to the beach everyday except if its horrible weather. I was there yesterday, Karon is a very long beach, BUT nearly all the entry walkways to the beach have signs warning tourists about rip tides and undercurrents etc and YES they are in multiple languages as well. In spite of this, i have lost count of all the rescues i have seen, i saw atleast 3 or 4 yesterday as well, but not this one thank God, sorry for the lost life, its terrible!

Some of these signs have diagrams others just warning signs. I have sat sat with my missus over the years and taught her about rips etc, as i am an aussie and lived by the beach all my life and was a clubby when i was young. last year i helped an elderly couple who had been dragged out from a rip.

In defense of the thai lifesavers who are doing a great job IMO, we watched yesterday as they continually told swimmers to stay out of the water where the red flags were. I mean continually, like every 5 minutes, it was a joke to see these tourists keep entering the water there, even though the thais were explaining why they cant swim there. They had 2 x large red flags at either end of a long section of rope with smaller red flags tied to the rope every 11/2 meters or so, the tourists had to lift the rope and walk underneath it to enter the water, what else can they do to stop this?? they had a section of beach literally 30meters wide which it was safe to swim and constantly watched, they are doing a great job with the resources they have.

The majority of swimmers here right now are Chinese, they are everywhere, even more than the usual russians lol

The rip's are very strong here now in the wet season all the way up the west coast of phuket...The one piece of constructive criticism i can add is they need to put 2 x very big "red & yellow" flags to define where the safest and patrolled area of the beach is to swim, this is what the tourists need to be inducted in when they are about to land on the plane on their arrival into phuket/thailand..... "SWIM BETWEEN THE RED & YELLOW FLAGS ALWAYS", just like we were taught as little nippers when we were kids in Australia.
