A question on when one person buys a ticket for another person.  EVA air for example demands to see the credit card used to purchase the ticket when I board.  How does somebody in this kid's situation get a ticket that the airline will accept if it is bought by somebody else?

    Emirates have a similar rule.

However they did advise me that I could purchase the ticket with PayPal, which would allow travel from BKK.

  2. I've left my car in a hotel carpark, in Nong Khai, whilst doing a visa run to Vientiane without any problem or charge.

We usually stay at the Pantawee Hotel . 1049 Soi Haisoke . Nongkhai www.pantawee.com 042 460850

They have a guarded car park, where you can leave your vehicle during your visa run.

The long serving reception staff, are pretty clued up on all things related to visas.

  3. Thanks for the U-tapao parking information.

I am planning a visa run flight to Udon Thani, and onwards to Vientiane.

The original blurb ,announced by Kan Airways CEO, Khun Somphong. Said that there would be a free shuttle bus operating to Pattaya.

I would be interested to hear if anybody manages to travel on the shuttle bus. I cannot find any reference to it on their website.

  4. I would suspect that View Talay PLC , do in fact have a hotel license.

The lower 6 floors in VT8 are run as a hotel.

Last year we had Russians staying 1/2 weeks.

This year they are coaching in Chinese, for 1/2 night stays.

All VT staff involved in guest reception and catering, wear orange and brown uniforms.

    Security- bare minimum.

    Pool supervision-zero.

  5. I was in a similar position earlier this year.

I purchased a DTAC 3g package at BKK Airport

I stay in a very high condo in south Jomtien. The DTAC 3G reception was very poor and spasmodic..

The DTAC help-line operative, admitted that reception in Jomtien was somewhat patchy. ..she also suggested that I live much too high! (My DTAC phone works fine)

I subsequently puchased a similar AIS 3G package from AIS on the ground floor in Central. (they set it all up) The AIS reception is much superior..

Both packages suggested that they were unlimited. This is a complete falsehood. (See previous T.V. posts)

I would suggest you ask your neighbours, which provider they use.

  6. Last time I travelled between Pattaya and Hua Hin I used "Yellow Bus". The destination sign reads koh Samui.

The departure time is 1800 arriving at Hua Hin 2230.

The return Hua Hin- Pattaya bus departs around midnight. The fare was 270 bart. The bus only stops in Hua Hin if you are prior booked.

Phone YELLOW BUS on 081 0861050 . Englishspeaking number.

Incidently, I did travel on the Wave Piecer ferry service between Pattaya and Hua Hin some 30 years ago. The ferry came up from Bangkok.

The problem was that there were only a few Hotels in Hua Hin then. The resort mainly depended on Thai weekend Visitors.

The sevice was pulled, and transferred to the Phuket- Penang service.

  7. It is worth checking to see if your Qantas flight is a code share with Emirates.

I recently Booked a london BKK QF flight and subsequently realised it was in fact an Emirates flight.

If you go into manage my booking on the Emirates website , you can also find your EK locator number.

I was then able to select seats etc.

I would also add that the QF fare, was about £100 cheaper than if I had booked with Emirates.

    I booked with Netflights UK

  8. From HERE

Strolling around Kwan Phayao, don’t be surprised if you spot a mammoth structure built of golden teak partially obscured by a huge banyan tree and restaurants around it. It is the Suthaphakti Mansion built during King Rama V’s reign.

We stumbled upon it by chance while walking back after the boat ride. Closed to the public, visitors can only admire its splendid architecture from a distance. We were lucky to get a closer glimpse of this colonial-style mansion of the late Luang Srinakra Nukul, thanks to the owner of a sidewalk restaurant who also doubles as its caretaker.

He took us on a tour of the mansion where members of the royalty and government dignitaries have spent nights when travelling to Phayao, which is not surprising at all as in those days the province, dominated by mountains and paddy fields, has few guesthouses or hotels of note for tourists.

Built on a nine rai plot, the mansion or the main structure has two support buildings that stand independently. Their interior, still in good condition, boasts Western and Chinese architectural influences. Although signs of wear and tear could be spotted here and there, overall the mansion was still in good condition.

  10. I was recently in Phayo, and i was very impressed by a large lakeside wooden villa.

It is in French colonial style, similar to those found in Laos.

I think some preservation work has been done on it.

does anybody know the history of it?
