  1. Difference being the UDD is a movement formed from the people wheras the PAD/PDRC are formed and financed from the pockets of thai big business (elites) as we know, supported by tte hi-so bangkokians and with an army of paid southern hooligans and street people.

  2. All violence is to be condemned. So is this :

" The house owner during the address to redshirt rally in Ayutthaya strongly attacked the army chief and even defied him that they could no longer live on the same land. He even insulted the army chief and threatened him that the redshirts would never let him live in peace after he retires from the Army in September. He also strongly attacked the army chief’s younger brother who is the Second Army Region commander for filing petition with the court to take legal action against redshirts who placed banners advocating to the separation of the country. "

    Tit for Tat

Now is this going to escalate?

  3. He even insulted the army chief and threatened him that the redshirts would never let him live in peace after he retires from the Army in September.

I am deeply saddened to read these words.

Agree - he's a hothead radical - but that doesn't mean he deserved a grenade in the night.

The chief has been trying to keep the army out of politics desperately, he's more a contemporary of Sonthi than Anupong, and Sonthi admits that his actions in 2008 didn't help and a better way needed to be found.

Typical hothead indeed and with remarks on secession he might anger even non-political Thai. Still no reason to drop grenades though.

PS minor typo, it should be "September 19th, 2006 didn't help"

When it's a yellow shirt victim they don't explode it seems but when it's a red shirt they do.

The police are right it sure intimidated him.

  4. I honestly believe if all Shins and their cronies all disappeared from Thailand the country could actually be repaired. As long as they are here this hatred will continue forever.

No you have to learn and understand that in the south and Bangkok she is demonised whereas in the North and North East she and her family are revered.

The majority half of Thailand want a liberal democracy and the minority half want a feudal dynasty.

    Clearly you prefer the latter.

'Ello Parrot - she sure ain't revered here in my Hang Dong village.

Oh yeah when everything stops working, people aren't paid, when the tourists all leave she very definitely will not be liked but at the end of the day it will be nothing to the revulsion people will have for Suthep and his merry men

  5. its just really really embarrassing

Almost as embarrassing as the glee with which it has been seized upon on this forum, and the relish with which people are queuing up to suggest, no demand, that she gives up.

She was elected, may well have been elected again, (the reluctance to complete the election suggests to me that the establishment realise that is the case), and faces threats to her physical safety and some pretty foul abuse.

I'm not surprised that she cries.

She's shown to her supporters that she is brave.

For sure she has been re-elected. The show goes on.

The black shirts stoop as low as is possible.

The black shirts boy scout leader claimed yesterday they had evidence of massive evidence of corruption dating back 10 years.

Being corrupt themselves (the Cockroach Party) they would know all about that sort of thing.

Will they reveal this corruption or does it implicate too many of their own?

    I doubt it.

  6. "violently manhandling her"

The minuscule bruise must have been life-threatening.

    rolleyes.gif

Were the guards in the wrong?

    Yes

    Is the complainant grossly exaggerating?

    Yes

So if a gang of strangers chased you down and dragged you off against your will, you wouldn't be concerned for your safety. Personally I would be shitting myself and my heart would be beating overtime imagine how a woman would be feeling. No I don't think it is an over exaggeration.

If a tiny bruise is all the evidence of her "violent" treatment, I would call that exaggeration.

To avoid misogyny allegations, her experience should be considered no different than if she were a man as misogyny is a two-way street.

If i was taken, I would press charges based upon that charge, but I wouldn't embellish the incident with exaggerations that don't reflect the reality of what occurred.

now that it's coming out you reactionary guys are bleating that it wasn't so bad.

Because you're sure it wouldn't happen to your mom or sis back home you can be as callous as you appear to be.

An abduction in broad day light by a bunch of armed (and you see them tucking their weapons into their pants) thugs of a government spokeswoman shows graphically why these people and those who finance them can never again ruin Thailand.

She may not wish to repeat all the offenses committed against her in the public view either.

  7. agreed it is BIZARRE

    don't like a party - ban it

don't like an ELECTED governments economics - rule it unconstitutional

    don't like a politician - 5 year ban

    probably next:

don't like an election result - overturn it

all 'unbiased' rulings of course wai.gif

Its not that the spending goes away. Its that it got all the way through the parliamwnt and the senate and then gets vetoed.

This patently shows that the constitution is NOT doing its job.

and yet and yet the Dems never had a problem with their own 1.25 trillion baht program from the courts?

    I wonder why?

Unfortunately for them they never got the chance to spend all that money thankfully

    but ... but ... but the Dem's

I would assume the opposition at that time didn't do it's job.

BTW I've been told over and over again that the 1.24 billion special budget the Democrat party led coalition government was 'spent' with massive suggestions it was more-or-less lost. If you feel that they didn't have time to properly spent the money, could you please share your source of information? wai.gif

Truth is there is precious little to show for Abhisit's party's 1.24 billion special budget is there?

There was something about dust free roads but no expenditure was indicated for flood prevention of course.

Clearly the compliant thai press never bothered to investigate where the funding went.

  8. So the train comes down from China through Lao. Passengers disembark at the thai border. Get on the perfectly adequate (according to one of the judges) gravel road. Board the bus,tuk tul, whatever and are driven through Thailand down to the malaysian border where they can rejoin their train.

    A perfect thai solution.

  9. Amazing. The senate passes something but a court can rescind it.

Isn't this in itself somehow unconstitutional. Might as well submit everything to a court for approval. I think the.spending is maybe unnecessary in scale. But what is the point of parliament and the senate.

Isn't this in itself somehow unconstitutional. Might as well submit everything to a court for approval. I think the.spending is maybe unnecessary in scale. But what is the point of parliament and the senate.

the unelected and appointed treat the elected with disdain.

No point in allowing the elected to run the country when the appointed have the final say.

  11. The sticking point here is that half the country backs a party that believes total power should rest with the legislature which itself results from a pretty flawed system of allowing a lot of unqualified people to vote for MPs. There is regrettably no alternative than one-man-one-vote, so an upper house becomes necessary as a check and balance. Peua Thai don't like check and balances. But the simple answer, in a strictly democratic or political sense, is to ask Peua Thai if they would be happy being in opposition to a party with a blank cheque to legislate away freely to uphold themselves an unfair advantage.

In the case of the senate, it's not about elected versus appointed. In their verdict they explained that the resulting direction of the proposed legislation would clearly be a Senate dominate by the ruling party allies, rendering it useless. Strictly speaking, anything relating to interpretation of the charter and legislative process should be subject to consideration by the courts for clarity. To my mind, a Senate wholly elected by provincial representation and not proportional representation is not democratic, and hands too much vote power to one region of the country - as it happens the stronghold of Peua THai. You can see through their ruse immediately. Thus the explanation by the courts was valid in interpreting this as an affront to the 'spirit of the charter for a fair democracy'.

Fair point but in a normal democracy you have to go out and try to win the vote through persuasion, logic and you have to offer something for the voters whether it be skytrains, underground systems, healthcare, infrastructure, better schools etc.

By using unelecteds and appointees (by the same unelected) all that you do is perpetuate the cronyism from the feudal past.

If civil servants defy their own government then the government should be able to remove them if they won't carry out their duties impartially.

What is the point of an elected government when the top courts re-interpret the law to give themselves the authority to prevent the legislature doing its job and carrying out its mandate as voted for by the people.

  12. Myanmar has a lot of old cars on the road with right-hand steering...it would be cheaper to persuade Myanmar to change back to driving on the left, then Thailand would be connected with the majority of its trading partners from ASEAN.

Did anyone watch the Top Gear Special the other night?

2 parter driving through Burma to Thailand and the river Kwai.

Very good actually. Stunning mountain scenery. The next thailand.

Virtually all the cars, trucks, buses are left hand drive and yet they drive on the left!!!!

Because the former general dictator decided switch from the british system of driving on the left to driving on the right.

Were you watching in the mirror. All the cars were right hand drive and they drive on the right.

    Lost in translation

They drive on the right but the driver sits on the right by the verge

  14. In a democracy one has to accept the rule of law lest it not be considered a democracy anymore. As much as I do not like this decision it must be respected. That is what people do in democracies, they respect the decisions no matter how much they disagree with them.

I wonder if we will see DEM's say "We will create hell on earth" now this decision has gone against us. I wonder if Abhisit will state "there will be chaos in Thailand now this judgement has gone against us" Of course not. They are democratic and understand the rule of law has to be adhered too lest democracy fail.

However I will behead myself if the DEM's or Abhisit say that. Don't be offended that I said "behead". Apparently it is acceptable for a PTP deputy PM to say it in public so surely it is an acceptable term to use on this forum and in the wider Thai community.

Words are hollow and that is all the PTP have. Actions speak volumes and are a true judge of the person or party. AGAIN through the DEM's actions they have taught the PTP how to act in a democracy when an unfavorable judgement is made against them. Of all the principles of democracy the DEMS respect all of them, but want to hold of on one (elections) to ensure the remainder are not abused. The PTP want to force one through (elections) to ensure the remainder can be abused.

I pity the PTP. I mainly pity there supporters that fight for a democracy yet cannot state what the principles of democracy are.

Is this how to act in a democracy? From Democrat Party MP, now ex MP, Sirichok Chopa's facebook page during the election for Bangkok Governor last year,

    March-14-Sirichok-posted.jpg

    Some familiar names in there

Ah the case of the nine advisers versus the proposed 31.

    Probably can't have too many.

    One democrat I have met.

He did try to negotiate with Abhisit in 2010 to no avail.

Doesn't travel about with an armed guard either.

Perhaps his plans for overhead walkways was not such a bad idea after all. Mind you the PDRC guards wouldn't want you gobbing on them.

  15. Hang on?

Read my post again referring to elections.

BTW - No rebutal on what I actually said? Can't defend that at all?

    you are deluded:

AGAIN through the DEM's actions they have taught the PTP how to act in a democracy

I've found it best to ignore Djjamie as all he does is continue to repeat the same "define democracy" line ad nauseum while the anti-democratic ideas of the current protestors. I suspect he's been fed a PDRC 'talking point' which he just repeats.

    I think he attends daily.

  16. Not that clever. They are staying for free but everybody else in the park is being paid to be there.

You must be confused, these people are having a gathering in the north somewhere at the moment.

I know of some teachers from the south that joined the protests in January that were 'reimbursed' 500 baht a day for 'loss of earnings' (which I imagine they didn't actually even lose).

I can't say whether this is still going on or not though.

We briefly had a very useless (lazy) maid . She claimed before starting with us she had been paid 200 baht per day (300 baht for a man) to attend!

She also went to the redshirt demo at the stadium where she was paid 300 baht but complained because she couldn't leave and had to spend the whole day and the food was no good.

    That was early doors.

  17. According to Mr. Thammarat Channual, Mr. Maroot was attending a wedding reception hosted by one of his friends in Laksi distirct on the night of the incident. Afterh he left the party, Mr. Thammarat said, Mr. Maroot drove home via Chaeng Wattana Road, thinking he could drive through the protest site.

But Mr. Maroot soon reportedly encountered street cones erected by PCAD guards on the road. As the barricades were unmanned, Mr. Thammarat said in a phone interview, Mr. Maroot got out of his car and attempted to remove the barricades,

Not getting into the right or wrong of blocking roads, just wondering about common sense. Most people aware of the demonstrations will not assume that they can drive through, and will not try to dismantle a barricade. Maybe something to do with having a few at that wedding reception?

Not that anyone needs to get beat up and shot for this sort of thing.

And if the PDRC were at the end of your road what would you do?

Would you remove the illegal traffic cones so you could freely pass or would you just give up?

Shooting the guy in the leg and the terrible beating he has received from which we don't know the outcome shows these people are a clear and present danger to the general public.

Yet the courts continue to portray these protestors as peaceful.

    Silly courts.

After the last coup in 2008 for a short while the soldiers were cockily walking around silom in groups.

Just wait for these thugs to start handing out rough justice on your streets.

  18. Unfortunally a lot of cowadly yellow shirt men taking cheap shots at Yingluck being a women in the last few months.

Abhisit with his "stupid woman" remark, Suthep with his threat against Yinglucks son, (No wonder these dinasors cant get elected), doctor in the south saying yingluck should get vaginal surgury, and various posters on this forum in the same category. Says more about the type of people they are then anything about Yingluck though.

    worth repeating

Yingluck's personal Facebook page invited all Thais to promote gender equity for national development

you really need to get out more and actually read newspapers. In Australia the first female pm was totally hopeless and in trying to defend her pathetic attempts at buggering up the country she started using sexism as a defence by calling anyone that opposed her a misogynist(thats a woman hater for those that dont know), the people just laughed at her because they realized she was an idiot, its the same with yl, she is simply too silly and lacks the brain power/knowledge to be a pm. She is simply a puppet for thaksin, everyone apart from all the reds/ptp fan club realize this fact. It has nothing to do with being a woman, she is just too stupid, she just hasnt realized it herself yet but will when it all come crashing down arounf her ears. She avoids meetings that require any thought processes(parliament is the biggie she keeps avoiding) where she might have to actually think for herself and heaven forbid, come up with an unscripted answer, she is simply dumb as dog poo.

PS> I am no yellow shirt and cannot stand them just as I cannot stand the red brigade but that is probably too simplistic for you to understand.

Your clue less rant give credit to Moonao post, men that never got over their mommies issues!

A person blessed with natural Intelligence that have issues about someone professional capabilities and or qualities in fulfilling her roles as PM could point at the specific areas they claim she may be deficient in, the others used the shotgun approach for they are not so blessed!

There are many women on the international stage that have shown great competence in their decision making and abilities to function in what has always been (mans work) such also has been President Obama who has proven the bigots wrong in the ability of a man of color to rule over a predominate white population, no different then what is happening to Yingliuck, by the leftover Neanderthals that still roam the streets of Thailand!

    Cheers

What does it matter? Despite all the ranting, cursing, mysogeny. In their desperation and in all their deep devious plotting, she still remains PM and will remain so in the eyes of the international community

    Let's have an enquiry.

Let's allow outside investigators from the UN to analyse the books and identify this corruption Suthep paints.

Let's open all the books. Follow the money trails.

    I don't think so.

    It's not what THEY want.
