Online predators all well and good, but RTP needs to talk about the very real molestation that takes place by family members. Often an uncle (as in my ex's case) or by the father (friends wife). Father got daughter pregnant..... police gave father the choice of prison or becoming a monk... may explain why there are so many awful monks here.
Took the words right out my mouth.

You would have been if it was my kid, you would be wishing you could 20 years in jail.
I guess it has been a while since you went to high school. Especially in Thailand where most of the boys are trainee pimps and the girls design bar clothes.

I would much rather see people drinking then pot heads.
Smoking weed creates a totally waste of life and time.
I bet weed in Treetown is a potential pot heads dream.
The U.S is an example, no body want to work anymore just get stoned care about nothing and let the world pass by.
Mmmmm......................... me do believe that you may be known by another name. Smoking weed creates a totally waste of life and time but did stop the Vietnam war.

This isn't how things work. Deterrents after a crime don't prevent crime because no criminals think they're going to be caught.
Extended / harsher sentences serve to make the populace feel better but don't actually do anything to stave off these kinds of crimes.
Access to affordable education, healthcare, housing, and mental health resources are the surest ways to avoid this type of crime by eliminating the desire to commit the crime at its source.
Though one wonders how or even if that would affect people that just...want to do crimes like this.Your thought process is honorable but misguided. You do not take into consideration the Thai male ego which is inborn.

How odd is it that your typical uneducated average looking brown skinned Thai bargirl can move to any of the major countries in Europe, live 5 years and automatically become eligible to apply for either permanent non-revocable residency or for the citizenship in a First World European country straight away when I can spend 25 years in the Kingdom of Thailand (a Third World subpar country) spend/inject an average of 20 million baht into the economy and still have no clear path to either PR or the Thai citizenship while being mistreated by their immigration departments?
Seems fair to you?
There, I think I just answered the question. Anything else?
and they can buy land.

The topic is about whether you feel "accepted" not "respected".
I always thought that to be truly accepted was to be respected.

I think the issue here is the numerous AseanNow regulars want to feel superior, but without the difficult work of actually self-actualizing in any meaningful way.
Too many big words for me. I be naught but a humble pirate.

I am a racist.
My first wife was Sicilian, my second Fijian, my third Chinese, my fourth Thai and this one now is Chinese. My kids are black and I DO call them my little chocolate drops.
If someone wants to be my equal then all they have to do is step up.

In Phetchabun, Thais went into irony overdrive to suggest that the kingdom’s famous hanging wires were now a tourist attraction for “farang selfies”.
Phetchabun hasn't changed then.

Cannot speak about the others but for Australians Bangkok was the best stopover on the way to Europe. I believe this will end with Singapore opening first after covid. It may not appear to be a big thing but airlines are fuel driven and with more economical engines now they will use Singapore as a hub. (Easier to do business) This will leave Thailand as a branch holiday etc., and will also lead to less word of mouth publicity ergo retirees.
