  1. It seems that many people have jumped to the conclusion that this was a bad dog (cowering under a car) just because a person who has just had a rollicking says so. Too many examples of this on this forum. I have lived here for 7 years. I have never been bitten, threatened or intimidated by soi dogs, I have never seen anyone else attacked and I don't know anyone who has.

I do know a person who toured around a village throwing down cyanide laced meat balls. Several friendly family pets died. And what if a child picked one up?

The same person accused one of my dogs of attacking him. She was standing in the road about 10 metres from him, not growling or barking just standing peacefully looking around. No doubt this idiot would be permitted to state on this forum that his neighbour's dog attacked him.

They may not ask for it since it will not be your first extension there.

A hand drawn map from the nearest main road is all that is needed.

Did my 7th extension ysesterday. Hand drawn map was required for the first time. Immigration was almost deserted, my number was called as soon as I got the slip. When I finished and was waiting for the boss to sign the extension, the IO on retirement desk was sat the whole time with nothing to do. Maybe this does show that ex-pats are leaving.

  3. I get occasional outbreaks of eczema. Recently I've had it on hands, arms, feet, legs. Areas that are normally exposed. I get a lot of relief from the sore itching by rubbing the areas vigorously with cotton wool soaked with rubbing alcohol. I do this after washing or showering normally. The amount of dirt which comes off my skin with the alcohol is incredible. I can only put it down to air pollution which is also known to cause lung problems.

  4. Not sure if this is permitted or not. Copied from Thai Rath. Admin please delete if some rule is violated.

Looks good for you, but not for me in Krungsri as I pointed in #21 above.

I used to bank exclusively with KrungSri. Every time I transferred money from UK there was 1050 THB deducted from the amount sent. I found out that the transfer goes via Bangkok Bank (500THB charge) who transfer it to Krung Sri (550THB charge). So I opened an account with BB and had my transfers paid into the BB account (500 THB). Internet transfer to KS bank (40 THB). Saving 510 THB on every transfer. I can print satements from BB internet banking showing the international transfers and KS bank book shows the money being transferred. It sounds complicated but it works very well.

A possible solution regarding UJ's comment about proving the source, is to transfer the money from your home bank via TransferWise.

When you perform a transaction via TW a slip is produced, which can be downloaded as a PDF which will prove, categorically that the money came in from abroad.

With Bangkok Bank my statements show "International Transfer" and the amount credited to my account. I would have thought that would be sufficient to prove the money came from abroad......but who knows?

I wonder why the Brit embassy say they are unable to verify your income?, too much like hard work, not enough staff etc. I do the income letter every year using the combo method for retirement extensions. I know many others who keep little funds here and use the letter as proof for pensions banked in UK.

Interesting that the embassy notice only gives 2 choices and doesn't mention the combo method. I'm wondering if that has been discontinued.

  8. Does anyone know of a hospital or clinic in Pattaya, Sattahip, Sri Racha areas who offer injection or banding treatment for haemorrhoids. The ones my wife has tried will only remove by surgery which the NHS website says should be a last resort if everything else fails. She has heard of a person in Udon who has a reputation for successfully injecting them. However, this person has absolutely no medical qualifications so I have warned her to be very wary.

    Not brake failures.

The truck carrying the chickens that hit the rearmost vehicle in the line-up was traveling fast enough to cause all vehicles to be smashed forward into each other until they hit an immovable object ( the truck-trailer rig), also referred to as the "concertina effect" (to give it a musical note).

It  was nobody's fault except "chicken-man" who escaped with a poultry fine of B1000 and free meals at  KFC for a week.

The story does not make it clear but is the lorry shown in the photo NOT the one driven by chicken man. As it's the only lorry shown, I assumed that it was.
