  1. For something half-way between Altis and Camry in size, that gushes style from every angle, has a 211HP 2.0L turbo 7DSG, tons of safety kit, 16KM/L fuel efficiency, and a decent workshop wherever you stop, being 'only' 700K more than a top-spec Camry makes it a nice price IMHO.

If the wife wanted one, I'd place an order.

As for CLA 180, no word at all from Benz - it's either not coming at all (this is what some are suggesting), or only coming once the early birds have all bought the top-spec model.

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to buy this car :) For now my PJS will have to do.

  2. There are never any recalls in Thailand. Things are just fixed when the cars come in for servicing.

Actually Toyota Thailand recalled the Toyota Yaris last year. My company printed the recall letters for them. 25,000 copies smile.png

Don't go busting TV myths with facts. The whole of ThaiVisa will collapse laugh.png

Sorry :) Btw of the 25,000 copies we sent out more than 30% were returned. Toyota Thailand didn't update their owner's database :)

  3. I own the 2012 model of the PJS. So far, the car has not had one issue mechanically, and as to me, I could not stand either the personality of the Fortuner drivers, let alone the looks of the car.

    That's where the subjective ends.

Objectively, I have to say that many elements have come to detract somewhat from my ownership experience of the PJS. For starters, the tobacco smell with which I was gifted upon receiving the car... the unsatisfactory support at Mitsu's support centers, where the information is completely variable (oh, and BTW, the ownership manual is even less precise: for swapping the wheels front to back, it advises to do it when the wheels look used, which is quite revealing).

The second aspect is that some of the plastics (around the window) have badly aged in just eight months. They now show some sort of white surface powder... As though it would be flaking away. For a relatively new car with 12 K kms., that is a bit bad to behold. A colleague of mine, also with a Mitsu (Lancer), had his window plastics replaced for the same problem.

It is not something that affects my enjoyment of the car, but I am rather annoyed to have similar QC issues so early in the life of the car (supposed to hold together for 10-15 years?).

As to handling, I did not test drive a Fortuner and hence cannot say much of its handling. The PJS leans in curves, but if you take them at a reasonable speed, no reason to feel uncomfortable.

Sad to hear you are having those plastic problems :( I haven't had any problems yet with my PJS. Even the service at their service centers have been great so far. I have been to MAC, Mitsu Sukkhumvit, Mitsu Mahasakaram and Hua Mark. Everything was done on time. The only complaint that I have is that it took quite long for me to get my car. They actually even gave my car away to another customer who paid 20,000 THB under the table to skip the line. After a few phone calls within my network (I work with Mitsubishi Motors for my work), I had my car in 3 days :) The manager at Mitsubishi Mahasarakam was also fired upon investigation for taking bribes so after all still a win :).

  4. Mine is with Tokio Marine (I just continued with the one that Mitsu gave me for the PJS). Covered my car for 1 milion THB + all the options. I pay a bit less than 20,000 THB.

My front window shattered once while driving to Khao Yai. Called them immediatly, gave me the claim code in 5 minutes. Went to the Mitsubishi dealer near Hua Mark and had my car fixed in 1 day.

I will stay with Tokio Marine until they mess up :)

  5. I had the same thought when they told me the Mazda 6 wouldn't come to Thailand soon or even never. A couple of months ago they told me it would come to Thailand, but it seems that competition and influence from the other Japanese brands (T and H) in Thailand is too much for Mazda.

  6. No idea about Ford, since our company isn't working with them. I work for a Japanese company so our customers tend to be Japanese :)

I thought they would be launching the Ecosport soon no? Isn't that kind of in the same league as the CX5?

Anyway as soon as I know the Thai spec for the CX5, I'll post it here :)

  7. Had a meeting with Mazda Thailand today...still no answer from HQ about what engines will be sold in Thailand...I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more...

One thing I was told that at the end of this year/beginning of next year the "new" Mazda 3 will be launched with a Skyactive engine...Mazda 6 for Thailand has been cancelled :(

  8. Weird that Alpine isn't available anymore since I just printed 60,000 copies for their catalogue in Thailand :)

Anyway just try M-TEC in Onnut or S. Rachanee Sound on Srinakarin (they hare having a small event now at Central Bang-na).

  9. I think deliveries in September are a bit optimistic since we won't start delivering the Owner Manuals to Mazda until end of September :)

Even we are working on them right now they don't know the specifications of the car yet. I should know by May then I will post again.
