  1. What brand is your car?

a 12 old Volvo, well serviced by the dealer garage all these years. location, north of Bangkok.

Does it need any replacement body/trim parts? i'd be asking repairer how long to get them maybe your dealer doesn't do repairs so they don't have to stock parts especially on a 12 year old.

I was about to say the same...It think it depends on the work necessary on your car. If they have to order the part from the factory it might take time.

Just FYI, when my Mitsubishi PJS window broke, they ordered the part immediately from Rayong, it arrived in 3 hours and my car was fixed in a day.

However, in the past when my Toyota needed a new front wing and bumper it took 2 weeks for the part to be ready. The installation took another 5 days.

  2. With 30psi I would be driving around with almost flat tyres. I have 45psi on each of the 4. As recommended by all shops I been to incl Mitsu itself.

Will check tyre specs later today.

    Got a few questions:

    - if I get 22" rims with the Yokohama tyres, wouldn't I need to lower the wheelbase itself as well to make it (look) more fit?

    - when buying a set of rims in thailand, is a set 4 rims or actually 5 for the spare one? I mean i can't drive I guess on 3x 22" and 1x 16" right? Lol

    - would a 22" rim spare and tyre fit in the storage place under the car? Or only fit up to 17"?

    - I always get this spray can of tyre shine for free after a carwash, it kinda makes my tyres give a "wet"-look which looks nice and looks clean as well but can this stuff decrease the lifespan of my tyre? Are there any downsides which I might not be aware of ?

    - which garage in Bangkok speaks good English and can do a full tyre alignment? Preferable not expensive, max 1k baht.

Thanks my pajero sport friends, wish there was a farang pjs club, as 2nd club next to the Thai club with thousands of members.. Would be nice and show up at their meetings as well and combine those! I say someone register FarangPJS.com or ExpatPajero.com smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png

    Hans.

PS. Or even a club for all farang owned cars or just SUVs at farangdriversclub wink.png

    - Hans

Pajero Sport Club has a foreigner sections btw and I've been to a couple of their meets. Most members speak English fairly well and quite often a few foreigners show up :)

  3. Thai people don't like wagons I think...The Accord wagon is also a very good looking car imo, but not available here sad.png

Often wonder if they had the option would they buy a 4 door Automatic Pickup then add a canopy + leather cushion + air con, would they not just buy a more comfortable Estate/Wagon ?

    Same here...

  4. Actually many workers at dealers (not only Mitsubishi) work for insurance brokers. I got a call once from a guy from Toyota who worked for TQM and he told me that since my insurance is almost up I should start looking for a new one.

Tokio Marine service with repairs ain't too bad if you live in Bangkok. They usually send you to one of the main Mitsubishi repair centers (Hua Mark, etc). If you can live with that their service is great.

I used to be with Bangkok Bang insurance and their service was good too. I used SCB insurance and it wasn't bad either.

I stayed with Tokio Marine, because they helped me twice without problems, can speak Japanese and offered me 950,000 THB insurance value. Which is more than Bangkok Bank offered me (900,000).

  5. I have had 2 claims with Tokio Marine and both were handled very professionally.

    1. Window shattered -> huge rock fell from a truck bounced on the motorway and hit my front window at 100 km/h.

Received claim nr within 5 minutes and they sent me to the nearest Mitsubishi dealer. Window was fixed in a couple of hours.

    2. Front fender got hit by a motorcycle.

Guy from Tokio Marine was there within 30 minutes and handled everything for me. He even spoke English which is a plus because my Thai isn't always up to level :)

It depends from person to person probably. Many people are happy with their insurance company whilst others are not.

However I always deal with the Japanese sales staff so maybe their service is better?

  6. I saw Subaru XV and Forester on display today as well. The Forester list price is 1.9M baht, the XV is 1.35M.

To me, the Forester looks dull but the XV "edgy" styling looks OK. The XV interior is small though. I am not convinced the 2.0L engine is up to the job in either, 150hp and 1.5 tonnes does not sound very inspiring.

Something about the importer, MotorImage makes me nervous and their dealer network is not great, their brochure lists 14 dealers. Subaru would need to offer something a lot more outstanding to make me an owner.

Mercedes had a CLS shooting brake on display for only 5.4M baht. Gawd that thing got a major smack in the arse with the ugly stick. whistling.gif

I actually like the look of the forester ;)
