Funny, I happened to see that website today before posting this topic. That website is from the US, prices almost comparable to a regular outboard motor. Pretty sure the localy manufactured equivalent can easily beat those prices.
Thanks.
Looking forward to going fishing around here, I'm drawing plans to get a custom made metal rack made so I can carry the fishing boat upside down on the truck.
-
I was looking at outboard motor prices from know brands like Mercury, Honda, Yamaha (15 HP) and the likes to mount on a 14 foot fishing boat. When I saw the prices (150$ and up per horsepower) I thought a cheaper alternative would be one of those long tail outboard motors Thais use. Repair shops may also be a lot easier to find and parts cheaper to replace.
Does anyone know where you can buy those around Pattaya/Chonburi?
Thanks,
Tony the sailor man. Toot toot!

just goes to show how thais treat farangs(caucasians)
The girl was Thai!!!!!
Why make such a dumb sweeping statement?
Exactly
But then some posters seem to have the IQ of a geranium
I saw a hippie once in 1972.
I think I also saw him in 1973 and he thought we were in 1971.
YES!!! That's the guy!!!
He had a shorter guy along with him... with a funny accent... and he kept on saying, "Man."
Was it this guy?

I'm the only one here, why register when anyone around can point at the house... I was denied access to the village next door yesterday when I was stopped at the gate (driving a truck) and told I was not allowed in since I did not have the village's sticker on my windshield... Looks like I'm really blending in, so much that if I was to pack the truck with someone else's belongings, no one would see the farang.

The party was too big? That must be a misquote and should have read "the party leader's head" was too big.

I have this deep seated suspicion that most fatal accidents are caused by bad driving, alcohol may add to the number, but it isn't the main root cause.
I strongly believe in that as well. Not 5 minutes go by when one sits behind the wheel and sees some crazy life threatening manoeuvre.

Hmmm.. In george's first message (The Nation) it says Mrs. Pojaman Shinawatra travelled with 2 of her 3 children.
In the second post (Bangkok Post) it says that she travelled alone...
Hmmm...top-journalism ?
That's exactly the problem with journalism in Thailand...nobody is sure what's happening or what is true, or not true.
LaoPo
She's fat enough that maybe they mistook her weight as travelling with 2 other people???
Been told and also read that two out of three of their children are just as dumb as luggage. That could easily confuse customs and journalists.
Which one is the boy?

What a joke. They must send the lads you just about scraped a passing mark in the police academy to places like villages in Isan. Aside from the motor cycle helmet law, I doubt if any of them know anything about the law nor policing at all.
They become traffic cops, hence the fine driving skills you can observe every time you risk you life behind the wheel. It's probably safer to fly a spaceship through the Van Allen belt.
There was a truck stuck in the EMERGENCY lane today, cars would drive up to it and were waved off by a cop, 15 meters later they were waved back INTO the EMERGENCY lane by another fine boy in brown.

I really not understand Thaksin, I mean does he live in another world?
Does he really not get it that people angry him for what he did.
John K, maybe you should have a session with him and explain.
I would love to see him on: Hardtalk
Thaksin on Hardtalk, that would be sweeeet. I doubt he'd do it as he is a natural born coward, hiding in Bangkok or up north and now in London. He also refused every invitation to meet his political opponents in a debate, unless it was done in private.
There's just too much for him to answer to, he'd probably feel like standing in a field getting carpet bombed.

Bypass road, Chonburi. Driving in the left lane, slow moving truck ahead, I pull to the right lane only to see two cops standing in the middle of the highway and I see that my exit is coming up. I pull back to the left lane, they pull me over.
-"Wadtee Khap!"
"Thailan, dibe lep lane"
-"Chai"
"Thailan, dibe lep lane"
-"Mee pomplem mai?"
"Thailan, dibe lep lane"
- "Chai, chai. Pratet angrit dibe lep lane douai!" ( "We also drive on the left in England" I'm from Canada )
So, he's all confused now thinking that I,m from the U.K and that I normally drive on the same side of the road as Thailand. I confuse him even more when I show him my 5 year Thai licence.
"Where you lib?
-ban you Chonbuli"
"Euh"
- " Pai Tesco, lep lane" (I was really going to Tesco)
Now he pulls down his surgical mask and is totally confused, walks to the back of the truck and he waves me off with his white glove. Apparently, I was wasting too much of his tea money collecting time. I just love to confuse the sh!t out of them. Useless pr!cks. In the meantime dozens of drivers are pulling death defying stunts all over the road.
Back home, when you see a cop, you don't feel like you've just stepped on a hornets nest, here, well, you know what happens almost every time.

With all the financing Pojaman was doing with the Thai Rak Thai party, she was surely getting her investments back tenfold and buying land all over the place. I wonder when her turn under the microscope will come up.
-
Certainly the military sees this too in that I just read another story saying take a long break don’t come back anytime soon.
A good example may be found by recalling once more his SE Asian predecessor Marcos. He was allowed to return to the Philippines seven years after he fled and four years after he had died.
Marcos's wife still holds a lot of power and influence there. And a lot of shoes....
Pojaman and Imelda have more than a few things in common....
Yeah, they both have a zillion pairs of shoes but lack the freedom to wear them and walk anywhere we can.

Smells like a surveyed ordered by alcohol manufacturers trying to beat the advert ban.

Could be that he wanted to visit his mia noi (rumour) at the hospital?
Does it hurt when you cough? Hiding evidence up there?
Sudarat undergoes haemorrhoids surgery
Thai Rak Thai deputy leader Sudarat Keyuraphan received an operation to treat her haemorrhoids at the Lertsin Hospital Monday morning.
Several Thai Rak Thai members visited Sudarat who was recovering at the hospital at 3 pm.
Those visiting her included deputy party spokeswoman Sansanee Nakpong, and former Bangkok MP Chakkrapop Penkae.
Sansanee told reporters that Sudarat's condition was not serious but doctors asker her to stay in the hospital for awhile.

My dog ate dry dog food when younger but quickly got tired of it. I used to buy chicken carcasses at Tesco, liver, chicken feet, cook those in large amounts mixed with rice and refrigerate. She also loved fried eggs. Meat is rather inexpensive here, why not.
She looked very healthy compared to all other dogs in the moo ban. Unfortunately, she has disappeared after I untied her at 1 am. According to the neighbour, she was probably a prime piece of meat for the construction workers living here temporarily.
She was a soi pup when I found her but became a great companion, would sit on command, lay down etc.. I surely miss her.

SONAX, a lubricant, comes in an orange can, does wonders for tar and glue from old stickers.

sso, er.. Will he bring back all those suitcases... ??
And return them to the Kingdom?
A well know cheapskate, he probably had a yard sale in London.
-
On a more serious note: I truly believe that Thaksin's life is in danger if he were to return to Thailand, so I am sure the U.K. will grant him leave to stay.
The question is, will some of his enemies follow him to London with malice aforethought?[/i]
His life isn't in danger. HE and some of his 1000 baht note smelling zombies were a menace to other people's lives. On the other hand, his freedom is in jeopardy, he da*n well knows why
As for ennemies following him, that's more his own supporters style.

Once the water has receded, you'll find more plastic bags than crocodiles or fish.
-
You can save even more by replacing the noodles with paper from the office shredder, junk mail or the annoying 7/11 receipts that accumulate inevitably, tastes just about the same.
-
Interesting. His return and presence here should be done under secrecy, not for fear of his opponents staging angry protests but in order to avoid having to deal with his fanatic zombie followers who wander and act aimlessly to the smell of 1000 baht notes.

Where is that place? I'm keen on having a look now...
It's on Ekkamai just past Escobar ans She2, before the bridge an tai ping towers.
It's a pretty nice place to go with friends and reasonable prices considering how upscale it is.
The seervice is great without being too over the top.
Get there early and get a good seat. There's no cover. A bottle of Green label runs me 2200.
If it weren't for 'M&M', I'd be there more often.
I really want to throw a tomato at him some night....
You may want to buy 10. Have you seen the size of a Thai tomato?

Screw the environment! It takes up so much space and it's too much trouble to keep it clean.
Long Tail Outboard Motors
in Thailand Motor Discussion
Posted · Edited by Tony Clifton
Measured the boat, it's a 12 footer, not 14.
This is the kind of motor I meant.
Honda used to call it ME or ZE engine. General purpose engines. The fame of Honda has apparently seen many other local companies producing similar engines with the same red&white look.
There are probably shops where they are sold with shaft and propeller or build-your-own kits.
