"Do thais think they r losing something if they dont take that minor opportunity to get in front."
Yep, they probably do. Singaporeans have a word for it - 'Kiasu'. It translates as 'fear of losing' and is considered a leading motivator in Asian societies.

I reckon it would help to have the cash in the same account your pay is going into and apply through that bank.

One, if you exclude the personality disorder.

Most Thai girls don't just want your money. They're also keen on your property and other assets.

Don't wait for a crash, it probably won't happen. At least not across the board. Yes there's an over supply, but as most owners are happy to sit on vacant properties, it's not as big an issue as you would expect. Thailand has also trailed behind the region on property price growth, so there's no bubble to be popped either.

Even as a foreigner, with the right documentation you shouldn't have a problem getting an unsecured credit card from a bank. Probably harder to get, but they all also offer unsecured loans or 'cash credit' as it's sometimes called. Check out Kasikorn's K-Express Cash, unsecured loan of up to 1.5m Baht.

A good example of how you choose the family, and your future life, when you choose the Thai girl of your dreams. Choose wisely, this guy did not!
Good advice on choosing the family, but a bit harsh considering the offender was a relative of a relative by marriage.

You can keep blaming political unrest...even though it ended 6 months ago.
Sooner or later you are going to have to face up to why tourists are really going elsewhere.
But milk it a little longer if it helps you sleep at night.
Agree there's bigger issues than the political unrest. Still, most people plan and book their holidays 6-12 months out. So problems from 6 months ago will still be having an affect today and for a while to come.

Big fan of the chicken rice. It's slow poached, not steamed - boil the water, turn the heat off and let the chicken cook for an hour. But the key is getting the rice right. The Thai dish is an adaption of Hainanese Chicken Rice, so you might get more/better tips searching for that.

How about a road/bus trip? Start in BKK, then make your way to Ko Chang via Pattaya. Connecting flight from Ko Chang back to BKK then home.

Obviously married to the guys in Tesco and Carrefour who tell you not to buy the fridge/washer/microwave you want.

Keep it open, it'll come in handy, and you won't have to fuss around reopening a new account if you ever come back.

What a shame such a beautiful country has such hideous people in it.

Word on the street is these guys were also driving the Ferrari that ran over and killed a cop in Bangkok.

I love the stuff too, but have all-sorts of trouble finding it.

Straight out of the Dr Mahathir playbook.

If your mashed spuds are coming out sweet, it could even be the milk or butter to blame.

I went to Ao Manao bay for the first time recently, lovely spot. Very nice beach just over 1hr south of Hua Hin

Run by the Air Force, it's a relatively unspoilt beach and only minutes from the center of town. The sand bar goes out a long way so it's great for small kids. Free petting zoo at the Southern end also.

"they shot him with a taser gun, but it had no perceptible effect"
Yaba. Enough said.

Playing frogger after a night on the tiles at Cowboy was half the fun. I hope by enforcing this they'll also be ensuring cars stop at the lights so pedestrians can cross where and when they should.

People reclining into your face, screaming babies, obnoxious farters, lavatory seat pissers, people leaving their reading light on beside you while they sleep... the glamour of air travel.
women the spine of this country

I had a similar sized team and found the men and women to have simliar work ethics, if anything the guys put in more hours, and they certainly took less sick days. That was dealing with a mix of designers, writers and studio people. It might be different with blue colour workers where it seems women really roll up their sleeves.
