  1. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the red and yellow shirt common people had the lightbulb go on and they together realize "Hey, we are getting screwed by those in power regardless of party". And then throw the lot of the parasites out. On my Christmas wish list.

    Geez Emdog.

Finally a comment I can agree with wholeheartedly. And this does not only apply to Thailand.

I have suggested more decisive actions. Perhaps throw the whole damned lot in jail and then start afresh.

All politicians from now on get a salary of 1 million dollars per annum

BUT - BREAK ONE ELECTION PROMISE OR STEAL ONE SATANG

and it is life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Then let's see who is keen to go into politics.

  2. I am an animal lover and your info is good info, however.... taking your dog to the vets to have a broken toenail cut? Why not just do it yourself?

There is a show on Discovery called Pampered Pooches, have you been on it by any chance?

It was more than just broken it was bleeding and went back into the toe itself. So no - not all that pampered.

God people just love jumping to conclusions.

  3. Vets' services and charges vary widely - be warned!

I have 4 cats and 3 dogs and have take them for many years to a vet in South Pattaya on Sukhumvit road just past Tesco Lotus.

Initially they were very good, but then I realised prices were going up wildly.

I had a bitch spayed for THB1,200 about 2 years ago and then about a year later I wanted the same done for another smaller dog. Suddenly the price was THB 4,500! When I questioned this they said that the previous price was a special.

This was a warning and I started watching all prices.

One of my beagles contracted mange as a puppy and the weekly shampoo and injection cost THB4,600. Crazy - as they said it could take 3-6 months to cures. That adds up to THB 18,400/month - thus easily THB 100,000 for the cure.

After the second injection, a new vet opened up near my house in Nongprue - just off Siam Country Club road (where the new vet is). I went to them and asked for a price. THB 600 for the same injection and special shampoo. !!!!!!!!!!!

Best is, I have been back for other issues with the pets and the prices are all much lower and the people much friendlier.

Three times, I went back with the dog having a broken toe nail or something small. The vet cut the nail and on all 3 occasions as there was no medication or follow up required the charge was a massive THB 00000.00. Yes - that's right - IT WAS FREE!

For anyone looking for a good vet this is their name. They have two offices in Siam Country Club road - the main one close to Sukhumvit and the other about 4km towards Mapbrachan. Their website is - http://www.siamcount...tryenglish.html

    I highly recommend them.

  5. Please engage brain before putting mouth into gear

    Insults aside...

By all means, provide a citation showing were PTP has vowed to remove the LM laws or done anything at all to that end.

Not my job to do your research if you are uninformed

So no facts to support your comments then?

(insults =/= facts by the way)

Many - but I am not your assistant - easy comment for a lazy uninformed person. Does not mean it is true. Not wasting any more time trying to educate you. Cheers
  6. The House-Senate meeting on Saturday approved the charter-amendment bill, which will change the Senate to an all-elected chamber and remove appointed senators.

This is amazing! A step in the right direction in my opinion. People who make laws should represent the people. Congratulations Thailand! (if it gets approved)

Yes it would be another step to help get wives, relatives & cronies of those in power to be elected & thus reduce the independence of the senate.

Actually that is the current situation. The elite keep passing their seats down to their relatives and friends. Definitely not democratic

  7. Does anyone know of a gay doctor in Pattaya, or at least one that is gay friendly?

Sometimes it is just easier to discuss certain issues with someone who understands them.

I generally go to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and although I have always had excellent treatment, I would be more comfortable with a gay doctor.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  8. So what's new. Every government here ever in power has been the same. Of course each time there is a change the losers bitch about the new guys because they know what they did and now they are losing out.

The hypocrisy is as bad as the corruption.

Don't know how they will ever stop it here as it is seen as acceptable practice by too many folks.

Need to educate people - but which pig at the trough is ever going to do that?

  9. As for judicial intervention, he said that if the high court ruled in favour of the Democrats, then the public could question the judiciary's neutrality,

So is that a threat then?

PT policy on anyone who disagrees with them is always the same violence and/or intimidation. Do as we say or we call out the storm troopers.

Better to call in the public who voted you in than the army to get rid of the people's choice I would say

  10. I have a Thai company registered in Bangkok with a branch office in Pattaya. As we are no longer have any employees in Bangkok, I am considering changing my business service provider to someone in Pattaya. Can anyone recommend a local company that can handle all accounting and visa services?

  11. Interesting how you can call it "tyranny of the majority" is this worse than "tyranny of the minority" - where the hell has the idea of democracy gone.

And "cling to power". If you won a democratic election you don't need to "cling to power". You have been given the power by the electorate.

Boggles the mind. Democracy under the terms of the minority seems to be the idea here.

  12. Incredible how everyone carries on about the current government tries to change the constitution democratically when the Military junta did what they did. It was against the law to even criticise the draft.

    See wikipedia

At least they legitamised the changes through a public referendum. "Incredible how everyone carries on about the current government tries to change the constitution democratically when the Military junta did what they did", not so incredible when you consider that its current news and the Junta is past history.

You obviously only read the bits you like. The junta passed a law against criticising it. They also passed a law against promoting either supporting yes or no and then went out and did exactly that. So understand what you are reading before shooting your mouth off. You are just like the elite here. Have no clue!

They also said if it was not approved they would not allow democratic elections. Hows that for intimidation.

  13. The only difference in corruption between Thailand and the west is that the small guy gets to join in the game here whereas in the west it is only the guys at the top that get away with it. Because the small guy is also involved here it is also more visible.

Corruption exists all over the world.

We never had to include a 15% rake-off in any of our tenders in the UK.

    SC

Corruption and theft do not always take the same form. People in other countries are smarter. Look at SIngapore where they legalized their corruption. For many years, Sematech - the holding company for Singtel and numerous other gov/semi-gov enterprises was never audited. Even the Auditor General had no access to their books. How's that for hiding any shenanigans. Nobody could see where the billions in profits went.
