  1. This is purely Police propaganda - look at us, see how clever we are - then nothing happens, ever.

What is so Thai, is the ability of (alleged) Thai criminals to move so easily to, and stay, in another country ($$$?), without any visa issues.

Obviously this ease of travel is assisted by the fact the BIB fail/forget ($$$) to issue travel stop notices to Immigration, or maybe they do and Immigration ignore them ($$$) and people just walk through and away.

Luckily this has only been happening during the last 40 years, from my knowledge! Look for change…ha,ha!

  2. Sadly many of these 'historical' claims of forced sexual relations are true and when evidence is produced that confirms the allegations then severe action should be taken.

Unfortunately genuine claims are often tail-gated by false claims made by people who either want their 15 minutes of fame or $$$.

Reading the comments in TV it would appear, sadly, but not unusual, that the TV expat Judge/Jury/Executioner have already found Mr Crosby guilty, before any evidence has been produced or any legal response tabled. Judging someone on the word of another, without any evidence being produced, is unfortunately a by-product of 'historical' claims and personality bias. Like him/her - cannot be true, dislike him/her - must be true!

  3. Can anyone remember what happened to the (I think 5) police officers, all of whom were found guilty of murder, three of whom were given the death penalty and two, life sentences. Then after the verdict was announced they were, immediately, given bail and if I remember correctly THB1000,000 each to fight the courts decision?

  4. Like most ex-pats, I chose to move here. I had been visiting and working in Thailand on and off for over 30 years and had worked out that it is all 'smoke and mirrors'. I am therefore not surprised at what Thais do and therefore my frustrations are limited. I know I cannot vote, sit on the Council or in fact have any genuine input into the country except through my expenditure.

There are times, like many have stated, that I get bored or fed-up with the home (village) situation so I do what is naturaL and take myself (and sometimes my wife) out of the family/village melting pot for a short vacation; either in Thailand or overseas. Refresh my energy!

I live in a totally Thai Moo Ban in Isan on a 12 rai farm, so that keeps my wife and I busy - not rich. It allows me to have something to do each and every day, working either with my wife or on my own. There is the Internet and phone if I want to contact friends and family and the TV for sports.

I think that if you don't take yourself too seriously, have a hobby, project, employment or a good social life, Thais and expats, one can be happy. Just don't expect everything to work the same or at times as well as you are used to, go with the flow and life can be really enjoyable.

  5. I live in a village in Isan, where like you they keep cows. I have often asked myself the same questions. I am informed by my friend Pi Loong who keeps cows, that he breeds to sell. He will try and breed each year hoping to get to calfs. He will then sell off one calf and one older cow. However, like you, I am not too sure that it is a money earner, more a sense of standing in the village!

  6. Just what this country needs, another unqualified, bored teacher who is even unsure of his ability to teach his chosen subject. I thought our schools had an over supply of that type of teacher. Go for it, you should fit in really well, but why stop there? Aim higher, University lecturer for example, LOL.

  7. Sadly, it is not just Thailand. On a recent trip to Cambodia my Thai wife was told she had to pay the 'arrivals' immigration officer tea money to get her passport back - she gave him THB40

Unfortunately she was in the Asian, no Visa queue, whilst I was in the faring Visa queue so I didn't see what was happening, and didn't find out about it until we had formally entered Cambodia. By then it is too late!

Corruption will not be eradicated in SEA, certainly in my life time, because officials don't want it to end.

  8. Being moved to an inactive should be only the first step. A full investigation of the matter should then be conducted. This investigation should, by necessity, include examination of their (and their families) bank accounts, land, house, car ownership to determine if their assets are significantly above their earnings. If they are then they should be stripped of their assets. Only then will public servants, maybe, reconsider their actions. Removing the ill-gotten gains is a much better deterrent than gaol - though both (f they are guilty as accused) would be nice!

  9. I just see where the nearest Hash House Harriers are situated, find out where and when their next run is being held, and take off for the weekend. Bit of exercise, meet new people, enjoy a few beers and some socialisation, return home refreshed…works for me! Off to Hua Hin soon for a run with their Kennel…worth a try.

  10. G'day again

Put your email address into the next link and I will contact you. Not with intellectually inadequate/useless information, but information about Isan from someone who 'actually' not drunkenly lives here!
