  1. There's plenty to do for the whole family in Pattaya, beaches, Nong Nooch Gardens, a Water Park, para-sailing, jet-sking, coffee shops, ice cream shops, a great shopping mall, ... all the higher-end hotels have great pools and services, ..

Heck, even Walking Street has weekend food fare booths to sample many different Thai foods all in one area.

Just because there's a bar or two  :o  :D  you don't need to go in them,

Everyone's going to have a great time where ever you decide to go.

    Best thing said yet !

Bunch of puritanical old women on this forum.

    :D:D:D:D:D:D

  2. Please just be careful and don't jump in to quickly and lose your lot. The guys above have told you how much and they are generally fair to generous.

But you sound like you need to learn more about the Thai ways. I would recommend you buy a book called Thailand Fever which is a guide to the differng cultures and explains a whole lot I guarantee you do not know.

    Good Luck.

  3. You can get a medal for blowing a whistle and waving a glo-stick in a car park too.

You deserve more than a medal for that observation. I forgot about them guys with their ribbons won in the great 'Battle of the Auto Space Allocation'.

    Arise Sir Toastie.

Some of them actually got medals for fighting against the Khmer Rouge and on the Burmese border. The larger ones are orders that have been given in recognition of attaining a certain position and for contributing to Thailand. Ex Oz PM Paul Keating was awarded the Order of the White Elephant, one of the highest awards for his part in the building of the Friendship Bridge (funded by Australia)

Just remember that some of the medals have been earnt in combat before you start making light of them.

With all due respect, please be serious, how many of them do you honestly believe have been in combat ?

  4. There are HEAPS of DEET based repellants available. :o

In TOPS and the like you can buy "Off" or "Deepwoods Off" which are also mosquito repelants containing DEET, there are also other similar brands available. What you have to check is how much DEET is actually in them, in some the active ingredient is so low that it is totally ineffective.

If you are not dating or your partner is nasally debilitated you could always rub yourself all over with Garlic Oil ! ! ! I have been told it works very well.

  5. Hmmm.... it seems like there are two venues known as 'We are the World' in Pattaya.  :o

Well, it wouldn't be the first time.

We may have to wait for the evening shift of TV members to log on and confirm... Snoophound? SEAtramp?

I would guess that Nev has it right as the report says he was "escorted" to the police station, which would be Soi 9.

  6. My wife told me that when we first started going out together that another girl that we knew had made spells regularly to try to make me fall in love with her.

Didn't work mind you she was no oil painting.

Don't know about the toenails and stuff though, but these Isaan folk are into all that stuff and are incredibly superstitious.

  7. At 1am on March 13, Wantee Pongsumarn, 28, from the 'We are the World' bar...

Name of the bar as above... for those that missed it. :o

That particular bar has undergone a number of name/management changes over the past few years... :D

Is that the one on Beach Road, around about Soi 8 ?
