  1. As the OP I'm just wrapping up this thread. I obtained a one year print of my Thai bank account plus covering letter and attended Chiang Mai immigration. The IO didn't look at the print other than to check it was there. He looked closely at my bank book copies examining them about three times and then suddenly checking the start date as if to catch me out. Sad really.

Then the IO did something I had never seen before as this was my ninth extension. He picked up his phone and opened up Street View and asked my where I lived. When we located my house he marked it. Whether this is synced with the Imm computer system or not I have no idea.

As I left I saw the stealth BMW parked under an awning. I assume it is fitted with some kind of Stinger system to catch the unwary.

  2. I will shortly be applying for a retirement extension at Chiang Mai based on a monthly income of more than B65,000 from abroad.

My bank book has been updated monthly as opposed to last year when a couple of months were missed. This resulted in me having to obtain a printout of all transactions for a year and a covering letter from my bank.

My question is, seeing as my book is up to date, will I require a printout and letter this year?

    Thanks very much.

  3. Multiple Re-entry (see post #217 above)

    All done and dusted.

    0745: Arrived at Promenada

    0830: Allocated ticket No. 7

    09.00: Processed and away.

    Docs required:

    * Completed TM8 form and photograph

    * Signed photocopies of passport ID page and current retirement visa extension

Another HUGE Queue for 90-day reporting and some very disappointed folks turned away from the retirement visa extension queue.

Thanks for the report. Did you see how many queue tickets they distributed for the retirement extensions?

Nancy, in answer to your question I estimate 24 queue tickets were distributed when I was there two days ago. It was a long day but I managed to get my retirement extension and re-entry permit processed.

0550 - arrived and was approximately 18th in the queue. However agents had covered about eight stools with bags and such for their clients.

0800 - elderly Japanese clients arrived to meet up with the agents but that's what they pay their money for. I prefer to do it myself as quite easy really apart from the waiting around.

0900 - allocated queue number 21 and told to return at 1400. At that time I looked back and there was another twenty or so people behind me.

1300 - arrived to be on the safe side and the next number called was 12.

1430 - called up to the retirement desk and processed in 12 minutes then told to shift to the end of the desk to have my photo taken.

1610 - passports arrived back and straight to the copy shop to copy the extension. The copy shop closes at 1630.

1620 - re-entry processed and shifted again to have my photo taken.

In all I was at one desk or the other for a total of 25 minutes. This was my fifth retirement extension so I know exactly what is required document wise.

Near the end of the day I noticed a suggestion box on a pillar on the left as you walk in however by that time I was feeling too dispirited to write anything. In hindsight I would suggest that "The senior officer of the day at Promenada to have the delegated authority to countersign passports" I don't think it would be too much to ask especially as there was a three stripe female officer sitting at the back and not exactly overworked,

  4. First time at Promenada for my 90 Day Report two days ago. I arrived at 0745 and one hour later was given queue No 96 and told to return at 1 o'clock.

The first number called after 1 o'clock was No 86 so that gives you an idea of how many can be processed during the morning session.

Another hour later and I clear to carry on with my life.

  5. tomdfc, I very much appreciate your efforts and regret your loss of time today. In spite of an incredible response from Facebook and here on Thai Visa it looks like there will be a shortfall. However it appears that some O Neg can be purchased from Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok to make up for this.

Tywais, many thanks for your valued input as always.

    Regards,

  6. tomdfc I have juat checked here at Lanna and they recommend you go to donate at the Red Cross centre behind Yupparaj School and also provide the full name: Leslie James Holmes at Lanna Hospital. Red Cross will forward the blood to Lanna Hospital.

Many thanks to you and your wife for your assistance as even half a unit can make the difference.

  7. An Englishman, Mr Leslie Holmes, is currently in Lanna Hosipital Chiang Mai and in need of kidney surgery however there may be a delay due to a lack of O Neg blood.

If anyone is able to assist by donating O Neg blood it would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
