  1. Since the person travelling intends to do side trip that last few days, a tourist visa is not indicated, would be be waste of time and money together with the re-entry permit.

The best is to travel visa exempt, having a ticket printout to exit country within 30 days. it can be a fully refundable ticket.

    That is the point!

Some posters don't realize that a Single Tourist Visa is a hassle for my friend, because of the re-entry... And i think it's a nonsense getting a double or triple if he doesn't really need it!

And the cost of the visa is not the problem here!

  2. Now I know why my friend doubts about getting a Tourist Visa, copy of his message:

Question: "If I arrive in Bangkok with an Irish passport but without a visa, could I have problems if my return flight from Bangkok is dated for 40 or 45 days later? I do intend travelling out of Thailand on possibly two different occasions  for anything from 8 to 15 days (Myanmar/Vietnam). It's also possible I might combine these two trips in one; go to Myanmar and from there to Vietnam and finally returning to Thailand."

    thanks for any advice

  3. Hi! Sorry about my English...

A friend asks me, and i don't know what answer, if he will have problems with his trip to Thailand.

He wants fly from Europe to Bangkok without Visa, thinking in extend his 30 days visa exempt.

His ticket for return Europe will be 45 days after the arrival.

Is this possible? Will the airline accept he in the flight with no Visa? Will have problems in immigration in Bangkok airport?

I think he can show return ticket and founds, and travel itinerary with some hotel reservations.

    Thanks for any advice!

  4. the thai websites are not hard to figure out, one 2 car, thaicar .com just play around - alot of the sub menus are in English. like model year, etc

Thanks bkkjames, i have visited the two websites and i'm confused... I've two problems, no have idea at all about cars and my English is very very poor... If someone is bored or have a little time to help me, i should be very grateful... The car is an Honda Civic 1.8i vtec, year 2006, automatic, with +- 170.000 kms.

I only need an approximate price that i could get for it. I'm really lost in this issue, and i think it will became worst because of Tourist Visa crackdown, which i think will affect to me soon. Thanks for any advice!

If you was red stamped because of too many tourist visas, this will not help you.

What they want is proof you do not reside in Thailand.

I may be having a Senior Moment here, but I'm confused as to what you are requesting. Are you requesting a proof of residency here in Thailand? KK immigration can do that. But your statement you need it for your next visa application confuses me, along with the red stamped bit, sort of makes me think you are requiring proof of residency outside Thailand

  6. Hello, sorry about my english...

I have been searching in posts, and have still doubts. I read that is different a "Certificate of Residence" and a "Letter of proof of residence", one poster talk about this like an "open letter for who concerns", and this is what i need, i think, because i was red stamped and requested to present a "proof of residence" in my next Visa application. I am not sure i can explain this in immigration, because of my poor english... What have to say? Please, literally, so i can write it and show to the staff in immigration...

I read about having a service invoice in my name as proof of address, i only have a health insurance card with my name and the address, would be okey?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. i did not read all replies, sorry, but PROOF OF RESIDENCY costs 500thb and can be obtained at immigration police.

the first time i needed it i went to immigration with a thai friend who declared i lived at his place. i renew the document every year to get a re-newed motorcycle dl (they don't give me a 5 year dl since i'm here on TR visas now) and simply called my friend from immigration police and he spoke with the officer.

    it's no big deal...

i opened a bank account years ago. i had NON-IMM-O then but my gf had tourist visas and opened one too. the non-imm-o i received after showing my savings account (home bank). i was 36 years old at that time. some people here keep on saying that this is impossible, well trust me, i got 1 year multiple entry non-o without being married or having thai gf.

I am very interested on that non-o visa that you got, could you tell me where you got it and with what documents? I would be very grateful if you post it or if you put a message for me... wai.gif

I suspect you will find that the non-o mentioned is longer available and certainly not from any nearby location.

I suggest you make your next trip for a visa to Savannakhet instead of Vientiane and have some financial proof ready.

Hi, i'm not sure about your post, i think you want say "is no longer available"... Could you confirm it?

And i think this is my last question, you talk about having financial proof ready, mi doubt is if i have to present that proof even i'm not required to do it (i had copys of my bank passbook in this last application, but no submited them because not was requested to do, is this an error?)

Thank’s for the replies to everybody. One more little of information…

In fact I’m staying in Thailand for a long time with no appropriate Visa, because of my actual finance problem. Now no have money income from abroad enough for apply for a long term Visa. I expect that in a nearly future will have! But I have money income enough for living in Isaan with my girlfriend in her father’s house. Absolutely no working here, of course. I have a business abroad that actually is no working as I expected. I hope this will change soon! My intention is to stay in Thailand forever, marry in a couple of months and have a baby. While my money problem not be solved, I have no more choice than Tourist Visas.

Sorry one more time about my English, and I am thankful of yours replies.

If you are a young person the only long term visa that could be obtained would be an ED visa unless you have the skills which will allow you to work legally.

Marriage will not solve the problem !

To obtain an extension of stay on the basis of marriage will require 400,000bht in the bank or a monthly income of 40,000 bht .

A multi entry non "o" visa based on marriage can be obtained in Laos ( Savannakhet )but that costs money as will transportation, although the monthly income /money in the bank is not , at the moment, required.

Can you not return home and attend to your business until the financial position improves ?

I consider myself a young person, lamentably my ID documents disagree… I will be 48 in august…

My intention of marriage is not to solve my problems with Visas, only pretend to satisfy my gf’s family with the Buddhist ceremony, and I know that this will sound strange, but she agrees with me. Why? I asked her, and the answer surprised me like never before in almost three years in Thailand… “Because the translation of the documents required is very expensive” This answer surprised me too much, after reading about Thai ladies catching Farangs money or properties via marriage.

The downside of returning home is that my business is not in my home country (that would be perfect!), it’s in a third, with the inconvenient of living in a country more expensive than Thailand where I should find the same troubles with Visas.

    Thank you for yours replies!

I hope you realise that if you marry with a Buddhist ceremony, your marriage is not legal in the eyes of the world and Thailand, you will not receive a legitimate marriage cert to be able to get a visa or extension.

Yes, i know, my intention of marriage is absolutely separated of my possible future Visas to stay in Thailand.

  10. They used to sometimes ask to show 20k baht in an account. A Thai bank account is fine. It's not to show that you have income, it's to show that you have the money to cover you for the duration of the visa.

show enough money for the duration of the visa in a Thai bank account, and get a Cert. of Residence from local immigration office, or if not perhaps a document from the local district office (ampur) saying that you are residing at whatever address. Just take your GF and a parent and their blue book.

It is to do with them trying to crack down on illegal workers (teachers), so they want to see that you can support yourself and don't need to work for the duration of the visa. It used to be 20k, if you can show 40k, all the better. Thai bank book in your name.

Thank you very much, i will consider this option as seems to be the correct, i hope!

  13. My interpretation is as follows:

The Consulate is in doubt if the OP is really travelling Thailand as a tourist. As a tourist he should have a home outside of Thailand und an income from somewhere - not from Thailand. Hence they request him to show proof of his address and his income and make this a condition for later tourist visa approvals.

    Regards

    Thedi

I understand your point of view, because it is logical. Of course i have a home outside Thailand, but they specify proof of residence in THAILAND, and here is when i feel lost, can't understand it, nosense for me proof of residence on Tourist Visa. If i should stayed in hotels could show bills for my stay? What they expect me to present? Could have any problem if i comment this in Khon Kaen inmigration where i will go for the Visa extension? Too much doubts in this moment...

  14. It is not a red stamp. They have written that next time you need proof of residence and financial proof. The financial proof would be to prove you are not working here illegally so it should be from outside the country.

I think the annotation in Thai says it is your 3rd visa.

In the right side of my bad photo, sorry about that, is the red stamp, in the upper side of the passport page. What is most important for me is to know what is a "proof of residence" and how or where i can obtain it. Thanks for the reply!

  15. I have got a red stamp in my 3th double TR visa in a row in Vientiane. I have some doubts.

They talk about “next time”. If I present the documents required, will I be granted with a 4th double Visa or I have to consider going elsewhere? (Vientiane is the best option for me, due to distance and cost of trip)

What is a “Proof of residence” and how I get it? I live with my thai Gf, in a house property of her Dad.

What means the annotation in the upper left corner? I can’t ask my Gf as she is out on holiday right now.

And finally, I suppose I made a stupid mistake. In the previous apply they asked me for proof of financial income, which I presented. As this time I was no asked for it, I didn’t present it. Should have presented it?

Thanks in advance and sorry about my English…

The reason why Thailand has so many ATMs is the same reason why Thailand has so many bars and so many ladyboys: Taking advantage of the foreigner and finding ways to separate him from his money. Thailand ATMs have the highest fees in the world for foreigners. It's a huge money maker for the bank - charging you extremely high fees to access your OWN money!

Sorry. I cannot agree. Just open a Thai bank account and you will not have fees. Or, just continue your Thai bashing if that makes you happy.

Another pile of garbage. I can withdraw money from my Thai bank using my ATM card for free. If yours charges you then change bank.

You have to love the nonsense some posters on here come up with.

I have withdrawed in several countries, and it's a fact that one of the most expensive is Thailand, it's not fault of his bank, or mine... It's reality... This is true. If you two no like the way he talks about it, it's a different matter, i don't like also.

  17. Just curious. Why not just change it at local bank before you go to Nong Khai. I would suspect the bank will give you a better exchange rate than a gold shop. Major banks even in small towns tend to have USD on hand

I tried it in Phu Kiao and Chum Pae, near where i live, with no exit, they told me to go Khon Kaen, too far away for my bike...

I live in Kaeng Khro, SCB holds USD here, at least they did a month ago. Get the gf to give them a call and ask.

I live in Kaset Sombun, 74 kms. from Kaeng Khro, i think is also too much distance for my bike, but is good to know that alternative,. Thanks!

  18. Hi.

There is a gold/jewellery shop, inside the market strip called "Tha Sadet" in Nong Khai town that will exchange baht for dollars. The exchange rate is very reasonable. Should you need Laos KIP they are also willing to help. If you enter the Tha Sadet from the western side, it should be on your right (not riverside) after about 100-150 meters. There are not many (if any other?) gold shops/jewellers in the area so you should be able to find it easily.

Shop is called Porntip Exchange and they usually have the best rates in town, small notes ($1,$5,$10), and other local currencies as well as many international ones on hand.

Thank you very much, i finded it and changed money, border run successful!
