  1. Just curious. Why not just change it at local bank before you go to Nong Khai. I would suspect the bank will give you a better exchange rate than a gold shop. Major banks even in small towns tend to have USD on hand

I tried it in Phu Kiao and Chum Pae, near where i live, with no exit, they told me to go Khon Kaen, too far away for my bike...

  2. Hi, next monday i have to go to Nong Khai for a border run, does anyone knows if i can change bahts to dollars in Nong Khai? If so, any place near bus station or border? Last time i tried to change in Laos part of the bridge, but they only had 100 US notes, too much for me, only need 35. Thanks in advance!

  3. Hi, sorry about my English...

I have been in Vientiane for apply a double entry Tourist Visa on day 2 of october. In my passport have already one double TR issued also in Vientiane on April. The migration officer asked me "Why you apply for a second one?" and after asked me if i had money income proof. I sowed him my Kasikorn passbook and tolk me to copy all pages of it, and asked me where the funds came from. I was surprised of this, because only one previous Visa in my new passport, and the officer no had computer to check previous visas. Lucky me, because having with me the bank passbook, i guess, i think should had problems if not have it. I also showed him several Western Union receipts with income from abroad, but he no seemed to be interested on them. Visa was issued.

I think it will be a good idea for people appling for visas in a row take income proof since now!

Otherwise i want mention a new hotel 80 meters away from Consulate, Viengvang Hotel, clean and affordable, also with restaurant, and friendly owner, Lady talking English.

  4. What I suggest to those wanting more than a few tourist visas is some proof of income from outside of Thailand with their visa application. It could be a bank book, atm slips or even Western Union transfers in. This would prove you are not working here which is the main concern they have.

Hi ubonjoe, i think i need to present some proof of income from outside of Thailand, as you suggest, because i have several TR visas. What should i present, originals or copies? If i present originals, will they come back to me?

  5. Vientiane will normally issue and only not issue after you get the red stamp. But based on your history they might this time give you a single entry and red stamp.

Having a new passport sometimes helps.

Thanks, and now other doubt, red stamp will close the Savannakhet option, or any other destination? I mean, what is the option if get red stamp, go out of Thailand? If so, how much time?

  6. Hi! I’m new here. Sorry about my English!

I have read several posts about this matter, but I have several doubts also. I’ll try to expose my situation on detail, but it is hard for me because of language. It’s about of having too much Tourist Visas, I guess. My history in Thailand:

    Sep. 2011 – Airport 30 days + 7 days extension

Oct. 2011 – Single TR visa Penang

Dec. 2011 – Single TR visa Penang + 30 days extension

March 2011/05 – April 2011/05 out of Thailand

    Apr. 2012 – Airport 30 days

    May 2012 - Single TR visa Penang 60 + 30 days extension

    Aug. 2012 – Single TR visa Vientiane 60 + 30 days extension

    Nov. 2012 – Double TR visa Vientiane 60 + 30 days extension + Border Run 60 + 30 days extension

    Got new passport

Apr. 2013 - Double TR visa Vientiane + 30 days extension + Border Run 60 days

So I have six visas and I want apply for the seventh one. My questions are:

-I’ve read about a red stamp talking that is the last visa approved, I have nothing similar on my passport. Will I be rejected before looking that stamp? Is this stamp real? No always advised to be the last visa issued?

-Having a new passport will help or no? In new one I have 1 visa and 1 stamp of previous visa transfered.

-Last three visas were issued in Vientiane, need to go another destination? (This is a problem for me, now stay in Isaan, and I go Nong Khai by car)

-Having going out of Thailand for one month after 2 first visas helped for the following ones?

I read about the convenience of presenting money income even not required for TR, is this correct? Would help if I present funds transfer documents (bank and Western Union) since Sep. 2011 or would it make the officer look red light alarms everywhere?

And finally, what about tempt fate and go again Vientiane? And trust in officer no using computer (new passport with only 1 visa)

Any answer or comment will be appreciated, Thanks!

  7. Hi iLL,

Sorry about my english and Thanks for your post. I'm a spanish male living now in Isaan. I have three doubts. If you or someone other can help i will be very grateful.

1-I have read before in several forums or chats that having several thai visas is no good in order to get a new one, but i can't find information about this in no one official site. Do you really know if there is an official limit of visas? And if so, that limit for how much time is? I mean, if anybody have tree or four visas issued ten years ago, is this a problem? I have five thay visas, but two of 2011, and three of 2012.

2-I have just make a new passport. In my last visa and departure card is the number of the old one, which now is cancelled. Should i make a new departure card with the new passport number? They told me in my embassy to go to the border with both passports and should no have problem.

3-My visas are placed in my old passport, And this is my most important question. In the thai embassy in Vientiane, they only look passport or they will have in computers the visas i have had before?

Thank you very much for your attention smile.png
