Is there any way the police can contact you other than by showing up at your home presuming you've given your address. Do you think it's over? Can you simply move to another part of town?

What's the local price?
30 baht for all. 20 baht for kids. The science center is free. The ticket is also good for the aquarium. Next to Ekkamai bus station. Nice little park too.

Was walking by the Ekkamai area and I see the planetarium. 30 baht so why not?
The voice over was all Thai but the writing on the ceiling during the show is all English.
Now I can point to Uranus!

A genuine police officer knows that he has no right to withhold your passport without a court order and therefore it must be assumed that the person who took it from you is a fake, incompetent or dishonest police officer. You could also call 1111 for advice.

The passport is withheld with you in a room in the police station closer to the beach than the reception. I think the name Transnational is above the door. I was properly shaken down and my lawyer kept saying "pay them now, pay them now!" I don't know what would've happened if I had balked or reported my passport stolen. Maybe I could've saved 38,000 baht? Maybe not. You never know.

I would contact Magna Carta law firm.

I've been in a similar situation. As long as they have your passport, they have you over a barrel. It's all an attempt to scare you into paying. A Thai might not have the $$ to pay but the police are sure you do. A lawyer might help or might go into business for themselves with the police and you become the cash cow. Happened to me.
I know one foreigner who represented himself and just said "there's no way I will pay you that much." He had to pay but not the original demand.
At the end of the day, there's an argument that the bigger the case gets, the bigger the expense to you as it could go to court but there's also the slant that they are just toying with you and it won't go anywhere if you don't pay. The police know you are scared of jail and could probably get the money somehow. I had to pay and I was the one who was attacked! Ridiculous but the police know exactly how to turn up the pressure. I needed my passport for a big trip I had planned so I paid a total of 38,000 baht. I was attacked by a girl, I defended myself and she got a split lip for her troubles. It ended up costing me and me only.

I bought 2 tickets and my friend who was supposed to be in Thailand cannot come. Anyone want to go with me? You don't have to pay. I am inviting you because I don't want to go alone. Please contact me privately. Thank you.

Sorry not caustic words downright insulting.
If I was at home they would be eating from a straw for weeks.
But TiT
You and your violent tendencies should be left in the schoolyard. Why must we all suffer because you can't control your temper? It amazes me that people get so ruffled over a few bad words. Their goal was achieved by reacting. I bet you wouldn't do anything were they Thai men.

Then consider yourself lucky. No one is saying its rampant but it's happened enough for a news report here and plenty of board members have added their own experiences so that's enough t to take note IMO.
My number came up this morning walking along Sukhumvit corner soi 45 (b/n Phrom Pong & Thong Lo). I was in exercise gear with a money belt carrying all my possessions. The officer parked his motorbike ahead of me and removed his helmet so I didn't think he was waiting for me to arrive at the corner. He asked in English "where you go?" I said "to the temple to pray" in Thai.
He asked to look in my money belt. He asked to look in the first 2 of 4 pockets. He put his hands in to open the pocket wider for inspection. I had a 1000 baht note and worried he would pinch it. I also studied his hands to see if he would drop any foreign objects that he may have hidden in his palm.
Without him asking, I showed the copy of my passport/visa. He asked me how long I had been studying Thai (as I'm fluent and spoke to him only in Thai). He smiled and said OK. End of.

I see some people asking first before entering and others, like myself, just hop in and make my order. Right or wrong, this is how it is. What about you? Which style are you most comfortable with?

motorbike taxi to mochit bus terminal = 50thb
That's what I paid after haggling. I would pay more as it's such a needed service especially at a late hour.

My best guess is to appease the throngs visiting the weekend market.
How much is a motorbike taxi from station to BTS?

I haven't noticed any wheelchairs on the BTS/MRT. I've heard some stations have lifts/elevators but as a Bkk newbie, I've yet to notice.
So how do they do it?

Found 99 tonight and had a great time! We all did. Thanks so much and I recommend all others arrive early for the best seats and the complimentary popcorn. Good times!

I'm 'kinda' happy that the MRT guard flashes his light into one open compartment of my bag (I have 3 compartments...) but the BTS does not do similar checks. I know what I would do if I were a mad bomber. Anyway, I thought it was odd.

I think it is rather pleasant in there. Not over crowded, cool enough, clean, did you try the toilets on the 3rd floor, all manner of fancy buttons to try as you are sitting? Best of all a 6" Subway for 49 baht.
That's a good tip. Thank you.
