  1. Again great (and very stable) footage petdcat!

You must be a real thrillseeker with your quad. No fear for some water coming from the crowds and no fear for some technical failure above the crowds.

    Keep the vids coming!

  2. Great video. Did you film Chedi luang a few weeks ago?

    Thanks for your compliment.

No, we didn't do Chedi Luang (yet).

Love the videos! More fun than NASA space station shots.

Just out of curiosity, OP, how much personal liability insurance do you carry?

You too, thanks for your compliment.

We do carry some basic insurance and working on improvement.

But most insurance companies don't know what to do with RC aircrafts.

  3. Don't get it, the battery life is only around 40mins with wifi off. The Black+ is claiming like 30-40% better battery life though.

If you want them, the motorcycle shops next to KSK sell these.

You are right, the + is the better choice.

I have a special housing (an electronic gimbal) designed for the 3 and I thought the 3+ was physically smaller (width and height) but they seem to be identical.

    Thanks...

  4. Want to upload my file to a 3D print service here in Chiang Mai and pick up the printed object some days later.

Anyone can point me in the right direction where I can find this service (such as university / printshop / plastic milling service)?

  5. Was in Anurothai yesterday (Oct 12) and saw this at the bordercrossing:

    (photo is 1604 pixels wide)

Just makes me wonder what's on the other side and will we be able to penetrate into Burma?? My recollection of the area is that all the mountains are stripped bare of the beautiful trees that used to be.

Well, although the Thai truck just passed the barrier after a few words, I was not allowed to walk on to the Birman side, which is a 300m walk, the military/guards/boys told me.

Seems normal, I see the same happening on any Thai border when I am there.

ive compared my pic poor suckers and yours and thats exactly the same place !

the pic of the king and queen , what looks like a small gate next to the sentry box ,that huge road and the drain are all new so maybe the thais have been thinking about opening the border there for sometime ?

    Thanks for the compliment, Dave2!

As you stated, I did not want to confuse the military/guards/boys, so left my copter in the car.

Btw, can you give me directions where to find how to post attached thumbnails?

  7. Has no-one in the industry invented back-up emergency remote or auto-operated chutes?

Some systems have auto home capability. If the battery gets low or the transmitter reception too low it will use GPS and come back to the operator and land on its own.

That is correct Tywais, I also have RTL (Return To Launch) programmed as failsave.

But no quarantees. Still a mechanical failure, motor or motordriver (ESC) etc. would make it impossible to RTL.

There are chutes, but they are only effective by a minimum height (unknown to me) but I am assuming that my copter mostly flies under that minimum height.

  8. That looks like quite a large and heavy camera on your rig. Do you have your still shots on-line....Flickr or something?

Do you take stills or just capture them from your video?

It is a Pana LX7, some 300 grams, I use mostly for the videos.

For stills I use a Canon G11 with special software uploaded to it, makes a shot every second now.

Sorry, I can not show what I have as stills, because they are all shot as "private property" but you can see some at

Only the aerial shots are mine.

  9. Great Video. I live in Surin but this is still not that close to Surin. The camera setup is just awesome. Do you mind giving us an idea the total cost for the camera, helicopter etc.

I have been thinking about investing more in my system. I have a cheap copter paid 1500B for it runs only 10mins max. and a small cam that records to a SDcard. Yours looks like gas operated. Please give us more details if you dont mind. Again great work loved it!!!

    Thanks for your interest, ericthai.

I did post a picture of my gear some days ago, so I would suggest that you just scoll up a bit.

Cost is mainly a lot of digging in all kind of technical stuff like electronics/processors/software.

The camera I mostly use is a Pana LX7. Delivers superb quality by less than 300grams.

Moneywise I would say roughly 50K THB for the copter and peripherals.
