  1. Russian Ladies everywhere- just walk down Walking Street. Don't think you need a GoGo at any rate if you are interested in Russian ladies.

Right, but have you seen the state of them.I've not seen one I would take home to meet mum.

Hardened looking bunch....funny the Pattaya Mail just had a story on Ubek ladies that were rounded up.

Proof it is owned by the cops......they were holding auditions.... :o

  2. the thing is,MS, if you're being shot I'm not sure you're in the position to 'order' the assassin as to his actions; perhaps a sorrowful ไม่! would play on his possible conscience more effectively.

Whoever started this thread should conduct a survey of survivors of attempted murder and compile a list of their parting words before the bullets struck, perhaps this would shed some light on the most effective phrase.

    bannork.

    Survivors with parting words....strange.... :o:D:D

In a real situation I would just say the first thing that came to mind......more than likely "oh S**T".... :D:D

  3. Normal intelligent people don't start using drugs just because they are cheap. If you want drugs you use them regardless of price.

We're obviously not going to agree about this so how about we just agree to disagree?

Now we agree.... :D .....normal intelligent people dont....unfortunately some people who havent used but have been curious may just start to use if it was cheaper or legal. the only people who gain from cheap legal drugs are the addicts who can inject more for less cost.

    Do we disagree again..... :o

  4. to illustrate the point, here is a news clipping for all of you7 who reckon it should be legal.

BANGKOK, Thailand - A knife-wielding construction worker held a 9-year-old schoolboy hostage for four hours in Bangkok Tuesday before police shot the man with rubber bullets and a crowd beat him severely. The boy was rescued unharmed.

Wantong Kota, a 45-year-old laborer who allegedly had taken drugs, grabbed the student and held a knife to his throat outside the boy's school in Bangkok's northern Ladprao district, demanding only that a car take him to a bus terminal.

Police negotiated with the man before shooting him several times in the back with rubber bullets, then dozens of bystanders surrounded and beat the suspect as he tried to flee.

Wantong, who was seriously injured in the melee, was taken by police to a hospital. Details about his injuries were not immediately available.

The suspect was charged with attempted murder, illegal detention and carrying a weapon in public. If found guilty, he faces up to 10 years in prison, police said.

oh yeah, he is employed and can probably afford to buy the cheap legal Ya Ba

So he got his yaa baa anyway, in spite of it being illegal, so what's your point.

There probably more to this story anyway.

The point is he committed these acts while under the influence of the drugs, he would have done these acts whether or not the drugs were legally or illegally purchased.....Legalising drugs will not stop the crime rate attributed to drugs.

Sheesh you really don't want to understand do you?

Legalizing drugs may not make a difference to peoples stupidity, but at least it will do away with the need to burgle and rob honest people to pay the high prices.

I do understand the drug scene, I see its results everyday. I talk to dealers and users on a regular basis... lets see here for second....ok working guy buys cheap legal drugs, no problem till he cant work or is sacked because he is more interested in speeding than working....now unemployed man has no money to buy cheap legal drugs...What do you think he does ???

Employed guy buys cheap legal drugs....suddenly his drug habit is costing more than he gets paid because he requires more to feed his increasing habit....he needs quick money...what do you think he does ???

    Think about it...

  5. .......

girls around the bars.........to Farang guys......

"Hello Dek Ling (NOT hello darling)....please come inside.."

    never heard?

I usually than speak to them:

    "WHAT ARE YOU CALLING ME......?

I WILL MAKE YOU: TOPSO-LOPSO-LAI" (slap you left and right in the face....) than they all start laughing and find it very amusing

    listen carefully next time!

a Thai speaking friend of mine told me it's called like 'the .ss of a Monkey'...

    so beware of the monkey-callers

    LaoPo

The term they usually use is Nah Ling.....monkey face.......said quickly it sounds more like "darling" then dek ling does.

regards the original question the term you use depends on the circumstance....if you were looking at a monkey in the zoo then ling tua lek would be ok....If you saying little monkey as a term of endearment to a cheeky young child then dek ling would be more appropriate.

  7. I have found the Thai Bar girls generalizations on the different nationalities to be amusing and so close to the mark.

    Americans......Loud and stupid with money

    Brits.....drink and fight too much

    Germans...drunk, loud and sweaty

Aussies....drink too much and talk too much, oh yeah we also fall asleep more after drinking....LOL

Swedes,Danes etc....get drunk too quick and speak funny

Arabs....not going there, I did ask a number of girls but decline to put the answers here.

    They like....

American.... generosity....even if they think they are money wasters. Yanks are more likely to accept paying for the whole family to sit and have a meal than other guys.

Brits... sense of fun and adventure....sure they fight a lot but they do enjoy themselves doing it...LOL

Germans....also a generosity thing here but not as much as Americans.

Aussies....they like the "she'll be right" attitude as it fits in with their own views.

The others dont count except for getting out of Thailand.

  8. The mega rich wont come to Thailand while they have all the name resorts in Europe and the US...

The people they need to attract are the middle people, the ones that go there 2 or 3 times a year on modest incomes, or the families that go there once a year. Sure we dont have big budgets...but we keep going back there.

The Thai government is run by a business man and his mates are big business men....maybe the big hotel chains are feeling the pinch and have made noises to Papa Taksin and his crew.

  9. I dont think letting the thais gamble would do anyone any favours, least of all the already poor.

I think foreigner-only (with high entry fees for locals perhaps) casinos could work here. It could be a way to give back to all those who are bitter over double pricing at national parks, open markets, and such. Increasing foreigner turnover... or 'rollover' actually could only mean increased revenues for the local economy. At current rates, it usually takes years before a typical falang goes belly up... with legalized casinos, we could reduce that time period from years to weeks and days, Las Vegas style.

TAT Visit Thailand Year 2008 "Lose your shirt, lose your pants, lose it all!" Comped 4 star hotel accomodations for 2-3 days for X00,000 Baht losers and return first class air tickets for those who lose more than X,000,000 Baht.

    :o

That was the deal with the proposed casino on Koh Larn, no entry to Thai People unless escorted by a farang. no high entry fee was proposed

  10. Do any you people ever read anything else?

If you did you might have noticed Australians found that back packers left the most amount of money of all the travelers in Australia. They stay the longest and spend the most over a long period of time.

As for the TAT understanding this I have often wondered if they are smart enought to read with understanding as these figures have been out for some time.

Backpackers also pionered many of the places in Thailand that are now mainstream

Thats because backpackers can get jobs here.....they come on limited resources and earn more money to spend here....they still go home broke. I dont think Thailand will let them work....many BP's earn enough to have a holiday in Thailand on the way back or go there and come here to replete their finances.

  11. Hi Thanks for the reply, its really is confusing anyways i think i should use 48R  since  detailed information is what they want. Maybe 48 is for European countries who dont need to supply such detail info.

Also Id like to know how much money you needed to have in your personal bank account , i know there are no such fixed amount but rough guessing to satisfy the visa officer.

    Regards.

    remmy

48R is the one to use....

Money in a bank account.....they mean hers, not yours....enough to cover her costs while here....I rang the embassy here about this 3 days ago, if you are covering her costs, get a stat dec saying that you are supporting her finacially and medically and that you will ensure that she abides by the conditions of the visa (doesnt overstay)...you will find this extremely helpful and as a legal document it is accepted by the embassy there. You will need to supply payslips as proof of income and employment....take at least 6 months worth.

  12. One Persons Opinion

Scanning the Forum as I tend to do periodically, I seem to sense a change in the atmosphere on the TV board.

An article was posted today re the death, apparently a homicide, not a suicide,  of an older female, a foreigner,  in a hotel at Patong Beach, Phuket.

This is news, it is Thailand related, and I feel that it of interest to many, many posters on the TV Forum.  Some may even deem it to have more sincere interest and be of more importance to more expats, than would be a story, say of some local guy humping a sexy dog.

Yet this story [read thread] was moderator closed.

I don’t, and perhaps many others do not understand why.

I would interpret something that is reported on/in the media to be of public interest and quite possibly public domain and would not think it should be something to be snuffed,  if the members and other contributors feel it a topic worthy of discussion.

I found no offensive or abusive language, nor personal attack on any other member, much less a moderator.

A moderators job is not easy one and is definitely one that I would not want, but a good moderator [again my personal opinion] should moderate not censor based on what their individual personal feelings are.  A moderator, much like a judge should be unbiased and listen and/or read the facts presented not close, snuff, or completely erase a thread based on their personal feelings.

Moderators are human [hopefully] and are thereby not perfect.  They too can get carried away with vested authority and carry things too far.  Moderators should not be thin skinned.  While they are closer to each of the other moderators than to most members this alone should not create a defensive posture at the mere mention of fellow moderators name.

I ask the moderators and especially leader George, to take a breath, step back and out of the moderator shoes for a moment and try and see the mere mortals position.  I think this forum was created for open discussion, but not for an air of “Pravda” or “Tass”, where each post must be submitted to a censorship review  board and be cleared before it is allowed on or to stay on post.

The ‘kill’ button , I think, is being used more and more and maybe too much.  Almost as if there were a prize at the end of the month for the most kills.

Now I fully expect the extremist far right to harpoon and lambaste this post, and the soused up left to have their haha and off the wall comments….  But there a lot of center folks out there, and it is to those that balanced minded and hopefully clear of mind moderators to whom I direct this post.

I like this forum.  Its generally fair, while opinionated both left and right; and does have its share of wackos to supply the humorous element, and I would like to see it flourish and improve.

This is just one persons opinion…

Totally agree with what you say, I didnt read the mentioned thread but have run into censorship trouble on other forums....there is a fine line between moderation and censorship.......after all everything in moderation.... :o

  14. I'd appreciate the thai words for "Peanut Oil For Cooking"  in 1/2" letters.

    If someone has time.

    Thanks :o

The term is...... nam man tua yisong

I cant write it in Thai as I cant seem to type the tone mark above the vowel.

  15. KISS

Kin tua din mai dai......I cant eat peanuts

kin nam man tua din mai dai....I cannot eat peanut oil

Not sure where you got "tua din" from?

Peanut in Central Thai is "tua lisong", or, in formal texts, "tua yiisong". I have never heard a Thai referring to them as "tua din".

    KISS is a good motto.

This is why I recommended the safest option, which is to print out the text in Thai above. I'd also argue it's simpler to show somebody a piece of paper than trying to learn how to say something in Thai when you are not sure how it is supposed to be pronounced.

Got it from my ex in Buriram, Thats what she called them, Having checked my books. I will concur with you.....Tua Yisong it is....Apologies :o

The original poster will need to make sure that they avoid things cooked in peanut oil, Thais have a bad habit of not co-relating...."this is not peanut sir, this is peanut oil, same same but different"....... :D

Its probably a direct translation of ground nut, which sometimes peanuts are refered to, never heard tue yisong, just tua lisong, but then again I cant read thai!!

Thats the one I knew and understood, I had never heard of Tua Yisong or lisong before Meatball told me. Lisong and yisong maybe the same word just pronounced differently

  16. Thanks for your helpful and not so helpful comments! I was just curious as to whether it was part of Thai culture, not to be seen naked except by partners.

Thais are modest by nature, public nudity is frowned upon. Nudity within the same gender is usually upto the individual. In your partners case it may just be that she didnt want to be nud_e in that situation.

As to whether it is part of the culture or not, it depends on the situation. For instance, in some poor areas where there is no bathroom to wash in, they may wash outside in the open wearing a sarong, sometimes they may drop the sarong down to the waist to wash their breasts.

  17. Rather touchy aren't we? Think about it, all of that writhing around naked in pools of warm oil is bound to arouse the participants. I mean, it's bound to insn't it? In such of arousement it is quite possible for bodily fluids to 'leak' & contaminate each of the participants. That's the only point I was trying to make. If you must writhe in oil then either do it alone or wearing a wet/dry suit, oh & don't forget the goggles & snorkel!

I dont hink an oil massage is about pools of oil, usually just small amounts of oil rubbed into the skin.....you are probably getting mixed up with the soapy massage. :o

  18. The Pig and Whistle does a good brekkie!!!

The Boat on 2nd road near across from Pattayaland 2 have a good cheap breakfast....38 baht for scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and coffee or tea

Also the Dream Hotel Restaurant also on 2nd Rd near Soi Diamond has a good breakfast, Bacon and eggs, potato cakes, salad, toast and coffee or tea, and Juice for 70 baht.

  19. KISS

Kin tua din mai dai......I cant eat peanuts

kin nam man tua din mai dai....I cannot eat peanut oil

  20. Drunken policeman kills girlfriend

NARATHIWAT: --  What began as a drunken jest turned into tragedy last night when a young policeman in the southern province of Narathiwat accidentally shot dead his girlfriend.

Miss Wannee Klompanya, 27, was found in the early hours of this morning in a rented room in Sungai Kolok district with a single bullet wound in her head.

Witnesses said that prior to the incident, Pol. Lance Corporal Phakphoom Thaenboon, 23, had been drinking with Miss Wannee. After becoming drunk, the young police officer had pulled out his gun in jest, before shooting his girlfriend unintentionally.

The young officer, who was eventually arrested in the house of a friend, has been charged with murder and the unauthorized possession of a weapon.

    --TNA 2004-12-05

I find it amazing that so many accidental gunshot wounds are to the head.... :o

  21. I agree that all dugs should be made legal.

Why should someone's freedom to do what ever they like with there own body be determined by the actions of others? If people commit crimes whilst on drugs they should be punished heavily for those crimes, whether they are on drugs or not should be irrelevent.

If for example it was made illegal to be a Bum-Bandit because some Fudge Nudgers were doing their perverted acts in public places, these Turd Ticklers would be mincing down parliament square (and rightly so).

DRUG USERS ARE A PERSECUTED MINORITY!!!

You people are missing the point

Most crimes committed by drug addicts are committed while under the influence of the drugs....legalising it wont stop them getting high and committing the crimes.

Most of these drugs have a tolerence level, which means they need more to satisfy the cravings, sooner or later the amount required exceeds the persons income. so they resort to crime to feed the habit.

You people who say it is their body they can do what they like with it.....thats fine, but sooner or later they start hurting other peoples bodies....thats not so fine.

You cant deal with someone who is under the influence of drugs. Ask a cop who they are more wary of, drug users or drunks.

  22. I go with legalize all drugs. Making laws did not stop people from taking the drug alcohol in the 1920's and actually Organized the theretofor unorganized crime.

Opiate use in the US has remained steady.

We still have people dying from alcohol. If they want to die from something else, let them.

Making the drugs illegal on makes the drugs more expensive. This increases the likelyhood they are going to break into your house or mug you.

Means we need less police, less prisons and less property crime.

You are never going to legislate morality.

These are crimes without victims, unless you want to count the families, who need to bring massive pressure on the INDIVIDUAL just the way it is done with alcoholic intervention.

Legalize them, tax them and let people who want them have them.

Yeh brilliant, then we''ll have loads of spaced out idiots roaming the streets.

It will certainley help the police would'nt it? they could then spend time scraping drugged up drivers off of the streets, or maybe innocent kids or men or women who were unfortunate enough to be in their way.

Use your brain, how can making it legal be better? :D

If it was legal it would be cheap enough for the druggies to purchase without having to burgle honest folks home, sometime with lethal consequences for the victims. Who cares about the druggie, they want to kill themselves, let them. Or you want the monopoly on that (with alcohol)? I mean, you do run a bar, right?

Ok so you solution would br to replace the burglers with spaced out idiots making the pavements and streets more dangerous as well as the fact that if it was legal then it would be easily available increasing their habit hence pushing them to crime more to feed their habit. :o

The bar business is irrelevent to this. Even if drugs were made legal I would still NOT let druggies in my place. :D

Even with legalization of drugs...these druggies will still burgle and hurt other people.....a speed freak speeding has the tenacity of a bulldog and ten times the strength he would normally have...they think they are bullet proof till they start coming down. They are not capable of coherent thought as their minds are racing so far ahead of themselves.......prescribed dosage ???.....they will just want more, thats why they are called addicts.....these are highly addictive drugs we are on about

Do you want these people on the streets?????

Sure, you criers of legalization, let it happen...dont come to me when a speed freak breaks into your home, hurts your family or kills a loved one because his reactions on the motorbike was so affected, he couldnt control the machine.....

  23. As  in  baby  monkey......look  ling    ลุก  ลิง ......or  as  in  small  bodied  ling  nawy (noi)  ลิง  น้อย  (sorry  about  the  small  Thai  font.).

On a visit to Prasat Phnom Rung, My ex Sis In Law and her friend were fooling around a bit....the Thais called them Dek Ling....Hope that helps
