Agreed, what they've done to those kids is inhumane. If I was there now with a kid/kids I'd be searching for the first flight out.
For the sake of the Thai people who make a living from tourism, I hope this story doesn't hit the global front pages. It could tarnish the country's image for years.
“It could tarnish the country’s image for years.”
Do you really think it’ll make much difference given the current situation?

Only 6 days away from zero hour and they are introducing even more silly rules! No-one that I know of carries their marriage certificate around with them! And what right has anybody to deny partners who may have cohabited for many years their right to share a room! Thailand gets madder every day!
Madder and much much stupider

Good to hear this, and to see that it was a joint US-Thai effort that produced these results.
Hopefully this will help reassure some of those of those on the fence to get vaccinated! ????⚕️
baloney! they can stick this vaccine where they can stick the others.

When are folks going to learn that we’re just going to have to live with this virus just like every one we’ve faced in the past. We have never locked down economies, cherry picked which businesses have to close, mandated vaccines and cowered before bureaucrats while hiding in our closets. Get over it and get on with our lives! The rest of you can hide, be my guest.
Exactly my friend. Isn’t it amazing how so many people have been hoodwinked.

Who knows in this crazy world it might just happen. It would be really nice if things got back to normal.

People need to get on with their lives. All the scaredy-cats can sit at their keyboards bashing away. Bring it on, I say. Bring it on! Well done Thailand ???????? ????

So when Hua Hin supposedly reopens in October it'll be the same dumb rules. There are 1000s of home owners here who want to come and stay in their homes. If it's not quarantine, and those visitors can leave their hotels at will then why the hell can't home owners stay in their homes!!!
I think you know why..????????????????

I would like to know who they think they are protecting with this 14 day quarantine
- are they trying to protect the fully vaccinated tourist from Thais
- are they trying to protect the not fully vaccinated Thais from fully vaccinated tourists
it really does not make any sense at all either way
The bottom line - just accept fully vaccinated tourists into the country without all this ## nonsense (if they want to come) - simple as that
It’s all about the money I’m afraid...trying to recoup some losses by fleecing people who want to visit/come back.

So, it's not quarantine but it's imposed on you. Which makes it feel like it's almost a quarantine...
I'd rather wait for the country to be fully open and stay at a lodging of my choosing, giving my money to the locals who really need it and not those who bow to the powers that be.
This is exactly what they’re doing in Sri Lanka. These hotels aren’t cheap at all. Which is why not many tourists are coming...

The number of Covid-19 cases across Southeast Asia crossed 4.02 million, with 25,642 people testing positive on Monday
The Myanmar figure is quite low. Is that because the army has been busy wiping everyone who hates them out? (things have gone very quiet over there)

If they really wanted to save lives, they would adjust their overall manpower and shift staff to address the slaughter on Thai roads which make's the 850 total Covid deaths since 2019 pale in comparison. Long Covid is scary? How about the thousands who are permanently injured and disabled annually on Thai roads not to mention the tens of thousand who are outright killed.
Hate to say it but the priorities here are truly mixed. I can discern what is truly deadly scary against what has a high probability of not causing more than an inconvenient sickness for most. "Covid will get you for sure." Probably not. I'm much more afraid of the roads. I wish there was an mRNA vaccine for Thai drivers that could inoculate them from their driving stupidity. If it was only 50% effective I'd rejoice. But it would have to be over 95% effective to drop the road death to something comparable with Covid deaths.Exactly Sir! Why all the fear over Covid? It’s mystifying...

10 hours ago, Trujillo said:What about those who had covid and recovered (the approximately 98%)? They have the same or greater (read: Chinese vaccine in particular) protection naturally as from a vaccine.
Vaccines are a way to "trick" the body into thinking it needs to make anti-bodies without actually having the sickness; therefore, those who have tested positive in the past, and are not now deceased, are protected in exactly the same way, only achieved via natural means. This is not a secret, yet why is this fact being ignored?
Very interesting question...

If the order for the 60 day covid 19 has been extended beyond the end of may you could apply for one.
If you could find a school to attend you could apply for a 90 day non-ed visa entry up to the last 15 days of your 90 day visa exempt entry. After getting the visa you could then apply for extensions of stay based upon attending a school.
Would it be possible to find a teaching job Joe and convert a visa exempt into a non-B? I remember that previously you had to get a non-B in a neighbouring country. Obviously this is tricky nowadays...
