  1. You say she doesn't have a pc, she don't need one, you can call from your pc with Skype to any telephone in the world at a cheap rate.
feasantplukka, people here who talk about using Skype to call a phone number mean SkypeOut.

If you already have Skype, sign up for SkypeOut on the Skype web site and you will pay only EUR 0.057 to call a landline in Bangkok, EUR 0.106 to a landline in Thailand outside Bangkok, EUR 0.107 to any Thai mobile number, all prices including VAT.

    Maestro

thanks for the advice maestro, already have skype out at home in uk, but dont think I will myself have access to a pc in Sweden, or it might be a bit innconvenient to get to one. really just wanted to use a landline with cheap rate number, come on out there someone must make cheap calls from landlines in sweden :o

  2. My 60.68THB comes from two seperate sunday newspapers!!

    They can't both be wrong

That's the exchange rate you'd get if you bought baht while in the UK. It's always about 10% worse than if you buy in Thailand. Never buy big bunches of dosh in your home country, wait till you get to where you're going. You always get a better exchange rate that way as there are fewer middlemen looking for a profit.

good advice I agree bettter rate in thailand everytime :o

This will cause a lot of problems unforeseen by the government:

    1. Sim cards used to implicate others falsely in crimes (along with the scam Wolfie mentions above!)

    2. No longer will sim numbers be anonymous- so one will have to be as careful in giving someone one's mobile number as in giving him one's name. And once you give your number to someone else, and they give IT to someone else, all the third parties can determine your name.

I'm soooo sure this will prevent terrorist organizations from anonymizing their phone calls. After all, they seem to have been so poor at keeping their identities from the police so far...

    :o

Regarding the sim card registration, last week I registerd my AIS 12 call sim card at the carrefour shopping centre in Pattaya, all I needed to do was fill in a simple form, phone number, passport number, print and sign name,It took 2 minutes both Farang and Thais were signing the form , second floor at the 1 2 call phone shop.

  10. :D Hi could anyone advise me, I am currently gathering information for applying for a visitors visa for my Thai G/F, I own my home no morgage, can I just use my new council tax bill for proof of ownership or do I need the original deeds, my deeds are held by a solicitor and I feel reluctant to use them, also could anyone advise me on health insurance for my G/F, i.e if it is needed, where to purchase, cost, etc.... :o
