  1. the way it's looking I should hear something in the next 2/3 weeks but I don't mind the wait as it seems no one has been turned down yet?

    Cheers

    JT

Not totally true just seen & read a post in the visa section under the heading "waited 10 week and got a refusal" worth reading for anyone who wants scaring sh.....less, this guy must be gutted, an appeal apparently can take months :)

  2. I did a search but cannot find a link.

I was asked last night where a Thai person can apply for a passport in Bangkok.

Additional info in case it is needed :- what documents would they need to apply?

    Thanks

I did my sons thai passport @ Chaengwattana Building, 123 Chaengwattana Rd, Lakski, Bangkok. the Ministry of foriegn Affairs, I think you will need Their house book, ID, birth certificate, passport photos (2) any photo copying etc photos can be done in the building, the fee, which is around 2,500bht, it only takes a few days to proccess, and you can pay to have it delivered by EMS.

I believe you can also get a thai passport processed in Bang Na but I have no information about Bang na. :)

  3. My son went to the embassy on Tuesday to get a passport for his newborn baby girl and asked about his wifes settlement visa (submitted on 8th April) they told him they couldnt tell him anything....am thinking of sending off an email to the embassy and complaining though as when he put the passport form in not only did they want his birth certificate and the babies Thai birth certificate (as it states quite clearly on the embassy website under documents needed) but then told him that he needed her Thai ID card and also her family book, luckily he had these on him. I cant see any reason for them requesting these, it seems that they really dont know what they are doing.

When his wife put in her visa application they took out my sons old cancelled passports and said they werent needed, you can bet that they will receive a phone call saying that there is no proof of his previous visits to Thailand.

as you say he could expect a phone call, I submitted my old passport with the wifes application, also photo copies of the stamped pages in it, the agent I used told me to do this, and guess what, they didnt give me mine back, or tell me it wasnt needed, do they really know what their doing? one thing is for sure their slow at what they do. :)

  4. Say you meet a girl in Thailand, same age as you. Educated, has a degree and a masters, has travelled extensively, she has savings, land etc

You get married, in Thailand and start a family.

Perhaps this all happens in a two-three year period.

How difficult is it for her to move over here and start a life in the UK?

Generally, what are the reasons for not being allowed a visa? Is it down to finances? background, age difference???

*Note, I am not planning any of this just yet but its worth knowing if I plan on taking my current 'relationship' any further in the future. First things first, we are trying to get a visa for a two week holiday.

Just a quick overview would be helpful

    Brian

Hi Brian, To make it easier in 2/3 years time collect as much proof documentation, photos together, emails, reciepts from Hotels Flights accomadation, basicly anything that will prove you have been in a relationship with this girl, look at the above taged topic Robs guide to settlement visa it should give you a guide as to what will be required when the time comes, age is not a concern unless they are under 21

  8. post-17023-1242409766_thumb.jpghi I had the vasectomy done in 1996, and a reversal done 2007, but I oppted to have the reversal done in the UK, had it done in Doncaster Hospital, My then Thai Girlfriend now wife was advised it was too long between the operations and would not work for sure, where as the consultation with the specialist in Doncaster Hospital said he could connect the pipes back 100% but he didnt know what the result would be, after the op gave a sperm sample and got a positive result, the price I paid was £1750.00 well worth it, I think the price in Thailand is no cheaper in some cases especialy now with the crap exchange rate it 's worse, so my advise to you mate would be presuming you are English check it out at home much safer I think, not like going to the dentist, here's the result of the reversal :)
  9. I answered you here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Registering-...25&start=25 in response to your question in another thread.

You don't have to register the baby anywhere. They will have a copy of the certified Thai birth certificate translation and the Thai version and they are not just going to throw those away are they ?

First you need the birth certificate translated - go to Soi Post Office.

Second, you need to have it certified. We went to some place near Don Muang and got same day service.

The two are not the same.

we went with a tout outside the embassy he took us to the 2nd floor of the shopping centre at the crossroads nr the embassy did the translation of the birth certificate & took us downstairs to have the babys photos done was all done without any grief, if you have all the relavent documents its quite easy :)

  10. As I believe it: As long as you are named on the Thai birth certificate, then your daughter can take your nationality. If you need to get her a UK passport, then you will first need to register the birth at the embassy.

This is not the case you do not need to register the birth to get a british passport, I have just done this without registering my sons birth,he qualifiys for british citizenship through me the fees quoted are also incorrect, I dont remember the exact fee but I think its around 3.500bht for the british passport, to register a birth is about 7.500bht :)

  11. 5 week since my application went in, o my budda its a nightmare and its not getting any better, looks like I wont be in Thailand for the wifes birthday on the 12th june. looking like its going to go the full 12 week before we hear anthing & I can book to go back, so I reckon about 26th June :)

  12. What did I read wrong? I read between the lines, capiche! You not understand-your mistake-problem!

Awards winning teacher and administrator? I would not give a -hoot- a -dot- (Thai) on that awards.

You not deserve them! You disqualified yourself with your writings and statements. Write more and you land in deeper shit!

Thousands of Dollars for a Flightticket? Than you fly already Business or First class and are far away from your trouble with small children.

When a child has problems with his ears and the changing Airpressure, than its already poor behaving in your opinion!

What a joke of an award winning (from what country Kongo, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Irak, Iran, Afghanistan,....?) teacher, principal you are. :)

I agree Afredo changing air pressure does cause problems for infants and small children also us adults but our tolerance levels are much higher, allowonces have to be made for children, an award winning teacher should be aware of that, :D

  13. From what I have read you are correct. The next message will be that it has been sent back for collection.

Have you read this topic. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Uk-Settlement-t250770.html

It is taking a lot longer than 4 weeks now.

Yes I have been keeping tabs on that topic also posted there but didnt get a reply to the ? thanks for the reply, expect to be waiting around 8-10 wk from 3rd April when the application was made, just wondered when I would recieve the next text so I could book my flights :)

  14. Hi waiting for UK settlemnt visa for my wife, we used the sms service and have recived the 1st text stating the visa has been passed to the Embassy, what does the next text inform you of and at what stage do they send it, it has been 4week since the 1st text, I guess the 3rd and final text would inform you the visa is ready to collect :)

  15. Although this is true at the moment, Nationwide are also going to start charging customers for Foreign withdrawals I think the date is the !st June 2009, my wife has my Nationwide Flexi card and the last 2 withdrwals have been charged at 150bht a time :D

Can your Mrs not recognise bank signs ?? :D

    post-62645-1241283561.jpg

Yes she should be able to recognise that sign thanks, I'll let her no straight away, the post I replied to was on page 2, there were 25 pages at the time which is prity time consuming to read, my reply just happened to drop below the post stating which banks are not charging still, so thanks for your sarcastic reply, you have been very helpfull my friend, its obvious you are a Barclays Banker youself :D:):D:D

  16. This of course in addition to a similar charge imposed by the foreign banks, my UK bank, for instance, charges £1.50 plus a 2.75% conversion fee.

A pretty rum do and the sign of things to come I fear.

Well you can claw some of this new charge back by switching to Nationwide who charge £0.00 (on the UK side) per withdrawal and still give excellent exchange rates.

  17. Sorry but i hates baby

So be happy, that your parents did not think that way, did not made you or get rid of you in the first month.

otherwise, you could not fly, exactly, you could do nothing, because you not exist and no posts from you would be here to read! :)

Re-read what he said. He said he hates babies on flights.

I love kids. Worked with them my whole life as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. But I hate having them sit near me on an airplane. A baby once vomited on me during a flight. Several times I've been seated near babies that cried or screamed for hours on a flight. I'm sorry, but I HATE being near a baby on an air flight.

The baby probably vomited on you because he sensed you hated him good on the baby, just to ad you whinge like a baby, I hate being next to whingers on flights :D
