I don't know any agents in Chiang Mai
-
I would appreciate some expert advice please
I have Non-O visa marriage from Savanakhet
It expired last May - so I am on amnesty
I am in Chiang MaiIf amnesty is not extended - I would like to know what options I have
I know about 60 day extension based on marriage - but my wife is not here
in Chiang Mai and she can't return for another 2-3 weeks - i.e. after 26th
and I don't have access to original marriage certificate until thenCan I do 60 day extension by myself with just copies of documents?
Or -
I have a son in Chiang Mai - he is adult and not dependent in the normal sense - but
he is seriously ill in hospital and I must look after him all the time - so he is dependent in that sense.
Is there any option in this way?If not, what other options are available? - at least to keep me legal until my wife returns
If I overstay for a few days until my wife arrives - would that be a big problem?Thank you

I have multi Non-O visa based on marriage
The 90 days are almost up
I need to go out at Mae Sai and get quick in/out stamps in passport
at the Myanmar immigration on the Tachileik side of the bridge for 500 baht
and come back to Thailand
Is this still possible?
Surely it would not need a Myanmar visa just to do that?
Does anyone know?

I am buying a car for the 1st time in Thailand.
However, I would like to register it in my son's name.
He is adult and has Thai nationality.
Unfortunately, he is currently seriously ill and unable to go to DLT to sign papers, etc.Is it possible achieve this if he gives me power of attorney to sign on his behalf?
What other documents would I need? I assume signed copies of his id card and tabian baan house registrationBut anything else?
I would appreciate any expert advice.
Thank you -
OK many thanks for the advice

I have 2 different addresses and move irregularly between them.
One is my wife's house - the other is a rented condo
Do I need a TM30 for both? or does doing a TM30 for one cancel the other one?
If the latter, that would be very messy and impossible for wife and landlord to keep going to immigration office every few days.
Even if it can be done online, the condo landlord doesn't know or care where I am - the wife too sometimes
Any advice?
Also, I need to get a Residence Certificate (to buy a car) - what do I need to show as proof of address? as nothing is in my name for house or condo
-
OK many thanks.
I just wanted to make sure before making the long journey

I have just got a new passport (British) - so the old one is cancelled
I had a Non O marriage visa from Savannakhet but it has already expired
I have a 60 day extension from Chiang Mai immgration valid until May 24th in the old passportI intend to go to Savannakhet next week to get a new Non O visa based on marriage
My question is this-
Do I need to get anything stamped in the new passport at Chiang Mai immigration before I go?
or
Can I just present both passports at Mukdahan border immigration?I guess everything is same as usual at Savannakhet for getting a Non O marriage visa
Many thanks

Thanks for the information. My wife can easily show proof of address.
I did an out/in trip at Mae Sai/Tachileik in December to get the extra 90 days just before the non-O visa expired and I put my usual address on the TM6 card as I have done many times. The border immigration official was a woman and asked several questions about where exactly I stayed and how long had I stayed there and demanded my Thai phone number before she eventually stamped me in again. Never had that experience before at Mae Sai in the past 10 years. A few days later, immigration police turned up at my home with local police and said it was just a routine visit for verification of residence address. They were very friendly, insisted there was no problem, took some photos of me and of me standing with them in front of the house, but none with my wife, and then they left. Hopefully, it is all on the computer system and they won't bother me again

Ok many thanks for the advice.
No problem for everything except proof of address - nothing is in my name and I don't know about TM30 report - what is it? Is that something I will need to do before going to request the extension?
Immigration already know my address - they came for a verification visit a few weeks ago and took lots of photos

My Non-O marriage visa from Savannakhet has expired - but I have a passport stamp from Mae Sai
valid until March 15th. I realised, a bit late, that my UK passport was nearly full and not enough room
for all the stamps and visas for the annual visa run to Savannakhet.
So I have applied for a new passport - but I am concerned I won't get it before the 15th.Can I get a temporary extension to my existing non-O marriage visa at Chiang Mai immigration?
- that will give me enough time to get the new passport and then I can go to Savannakhet for a
new visaIf so, what do I ask for and what documents, if any, would I need?
If not, what is the best option?
Thanks -
If she has been separated more than 3 years - she can divorce without any consent from the husband - and even without him knowing about it. My former Thai wife refused to go to the Amphur to do what is called an administrative divorce - so I got a lawyer to petition for divorce in the court on the grounds of irretrievable breakdown of marriage. They sent correspondence to her last known address in Thailand - which of course she never received - but that was in accordance with Thai law - and the court was not interested in her current location overseas or anywhere. She was actually in the UK with her new boyfriend and new nothing about it until she returned to Thailand 6 months later. Total cost including lawyers fees and court fees was 25,000 baht - and whole process took only 2 months. This is standard work for any Thai lawyer - so should be quite easy to find one who can do it for her.

If you have a legitimate business registered in your own country and have a Non-B visa issued from that country on the basis of having that business - then you can legally work here in Thailand without the need for a work permit - because you are representing the foreign company and you have a valid visa issued for that purpose. I worked for 12 years in Thailand like this and never had a problem. Some people think the legality of doing it this way is not 100% - but I asked many times over the years at immigration and at the Thai embassy in London and was always told it was fine to do it. My vindictive ex-wife (Thai) thought she could get me deported for illegal working and made a legal case against me - and failed - because the judge upheld that I was working legally in Thailand and there was no breach of immigration law. I would recommend this way to the OP and anyone else - as long as you have a legitimate business registered in another country.

It looked like they were doing something similar at Thapae Gate in Chiang Mai last night. There were over a dozen police there at 10.00pm checking walking tourists and stopping foreigners on motor bikes. They were blocking the road and disrupting the traffic as I went past very slowly in a car - waved through because they only saw the driver who was Thai and they did not see me through the windows. Did anyone else see what was going on?

I have some experience as my ex-wife tried to make a case claiming the Thai shareholders in my company were nominees. The case was against them - the Thai shareholders - not me because being a foreigner with minority shareholding, I was completely legitimate. She really wanted to get me in jail and/or deported but there was simply no case against me with regards to other people being nominee shareholders. Without the facts of the , I am really not sure what you have pleaded guilty to - and why. My lawyer at the time told me it was almost impossible to prove Thai shareholders were nominees - and indeed the case was dropped before ever going to court. You really need to get a lawyer who knows about business and commercial law as most ordinary lawyers haven't got a clue - and get him to sort it out

I think the problem is in UK - not here in Thailand - just for the reason that other countries don't seem to be affected - unless their mail goes via the UK - e.g. Ireland. The problem actually started in December - and I thought it was just backlog from the busy Christmas and New Year period - but surely that should have cleared by now. I am concerned about the registered post - because tracking shows nothing arriving in UK December - except for 1 small packet posted on the 11th which was delivered on 29th.

I sell on Ebay also with many customers all around the world. Since New Year the post service to the UK has been extremely bad and very slow with almost nothing arriving even after 4 weeks - even registered mail has disappeared. Same problem with The Netherlands. Other countries in Europe have been slower but not too bad and the mail to USA and Australia has been normal. It's really causing a big headache - and costing money as well as I have to give refunds for Item Not Received cases on Ebay. I have no idea as to what is causing the problem - but just wanted to let the OP know it's affecting others such as myself - not just him.

Last month. I go across quite often and have seen others getting Day Passes without difficulty - but that might depend on who is working on any particular day - and/or what mood they have on that day
-
The people with Visa exempt can get a Day Pass to go over to Myanmar and leave their passport with immigration at Mae Sai - so the question of leaving and re-entering on visa exempt does not arise. It is very easy and safe. I have been in same situation as I have multi-O visa and can go across and return any time - but friends with visa exempt entry have just gone across with me using Day Passes. They need to get 2 copies of Passport - info page + page with entry stamp from the 1st shop to the left of the border immigration building - then apply at the immigration front kiosk at the border - it's very easy and only takes a few minutes. I don't know how long the Day Pass is valid - as we have always returned on same day.

If we are talking about scamming, forged signatures, etc. - then anything is possible - but if it is illegal it can be challenged in the court. It may come as a surprise to some people - but there are plenty of decent lawyers around as well who could do that- and could win. I know because I have had the good fortune to meet some over the years.
If we are talking about what can be done legally - then changes to shareholders and directors, including who has signing rights, can only be authorized by those people who are defined in the company registration as being authorized to sign company documents. In the case of my company, 2 signatures are always required, and one of them must be mine. Nothing else would be legally valid.

My experience from UK is that a 1 year travel insurance policy becomes invalid if you are out of the UK for more than 6 months in any 12 month period. That does not mean 6 consecutive months - it means a total of more than 180 days in the 1 year period of the insurance policy. It may not apply to every policy available - but it has to all the ones I have ever checked. Therefore a local Thai insurance policy - despite being more limited in what it covers - would still be much better than finding out that you have no insurance at all because you didn't read the terms and conditions of the travel insurance carefully.

The farmers might earn more money if they stopped buying huge quantities of un-necessary agro-chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides and returned to more traditional and more eco-friendly farming methods. It would also help the rest of us from being poisoned by toxic chemicals in our food and drinking water every day.

Yes - the 1333 number almost never works - the best number is 02-645555 - though its often a long wait for a human and even then it is quite likely you have wasted your time. I made an online transfer and their website crashed in the middle of doing it. After waiting nearly 1 hour to speak with someone - the only answer I could get was - Why don't you call them and see if they got the money? I love Thailand !!!

The original headline is probably nearer the truth than most would care to admit. My wife works in a hospital and the number of patients with diabetes outnumbers all other illnesses by a long way. It is truly an epidemic. However, the numbers of reported deaths from diabetes are very much under-stated because many people die from other complications caused by the diabetes so they don't show the true picture because the doctors don't report the cause of death as diabetes. Very little is done to advise patients to change their eating habits - the doctors (being essentially big-Pharma salesmen) just push as many drugs as possible to make as much money as possible - as they do everywhere in the world. Actually diabetes is totally reversible - Type 2 is easy and Type 1 is harder but still possible - by a combination of eating the right foods and taking herbal supplements - but most people remain ignorant of this natural way to get better and suffer and die needlessly
Just got the UK embassy letter Supporting
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Can you tell me what information they needed?
Can you tell me what supporting documents you supplied?
And did they require English translations of anything? - eg marriage certificate
Thank you
