is that the best you can do? using you as an example, are you giving your girlfriend or wife a monthly wage? bought a bike, car? built a house yet? come on be honest

I would conclude that @scuba, the sex-tourist/pat in this thread doesn't understand that everyone Thailand is not a sex tourist. It's a common belief among them. Perhaps degenerates feel better about themselves when they think everyone is a degenerate?

5 months and people are complaining?  I worked in Alaska where many of the Mexican and Vietnamese laborers would not "see" their spouses for up to 1 year sometimes.

The "big picture" is that 5 months is just a snippet in time, wait a few more months and things may change.  It is all you can do.  It is what it is.

    Yes, and why shouldn't they?

Yes it is outrageous... so would be hundreds of tourists saying they want to come to meet their girlfriends pretending to be in relationships, what would qualify as a relationship... FB/Line/snapchat/IG conversations?

A line has to be drawn somewhere.
    Certificated partnerships is that line.

I seriously doubt that "hundreds of tourists" would make any difference whatsoever.

It does baffle me why this gets people's noses in the air. I give my Thai GF a monthly allowance. She is 23 years younger than me.

She gives excellent value in return, and I can say with confidence after 7 years with her she's had far less impact on my wallet than the two Western women I was with in long-term relationships. Can't recall either of them giving me a massage after golf, or cutting my toenails. I can recall them stinging me for half my assets.

Virtually all transactions with women involve cash, irrespective of nationality. Unless one is a bar stool warrior who has so much sex appeal they snared a brewery heiress. But then, I wonder why they are on TV.

"Virtually all transactions with women involve cash".... I rest my case... see earlier comments.

It is quite rare for agents to run out and out scams. Quite apart from anything else, Immigration does not want negative publicity over agent assisted extensions and, as a branch of the police, can make life very unpleasant for those involved. That said, in the current environment, 11,000 baht is worryingly cheap. It is probably just a good deal, but I would be slightly worried. Is the agent one who has been in business a long time?

Their website is quite new, as is FB page, but I'm nots sure how long they've been in business. I guess I now just have to wait and see.

  6. Hey OP, sorry to hear that. It sounds like the lawyer has gone AWOL. Yesterday I met with a visa agent, filled out some immigration forms and submitted pics and paid 11000 baht for a 'Volunteer' visa, which is supposed to be good for 3 months once granted. There was me and another guy there at the time, and after dealing with paper work and paying we were told that the next step will be to go to immigration on either 22, 23 or 24 September. They said they will be taking people up in batched on those days. I have no idea if the whole thing is just a scam or what but I was willing to give it a shot. After reading the OP's post, I'm now even more doubtful. If no one contacts us to go to immigration or if they do but the immigration rejects the visa applications for whatever reason, it doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room with regards to the 26-September deadline.

Korean Air and Asiana are flying pretty regularly via Seoul.

It would help if you indicated where you are wanting to fly to.

I was looking at anything going to Europe to be honest. I was checking the AoT's departure list for today and it looked like everything was being cancelled every time I refreshed the screen every couple of hours, but then the airport's website indicates that some of them did actually depart today. So judging from Val83's response, the airport site is more accurate.

Qatar airways has daily flights from Bangkok and will bring you to many destinations. Emirates started to fly recently. KLM & Lufthansa also operate a few flights a week ... so plenty of options for willing to leave

I wonder why the AoT's site is saying that... weird. Anyway, thanks for the info.

  9. Actually, just did some more checking an the AoT and Suvarnibhum flight schedules dont add up. For example, according to the airport's website, the EVA Air BR 67 BKK-Heathrow flight scheduled for 12;50 today departed at 12:52, but according to AoT it was cancelled. Googling the flight indictaes that it also departed pretty much on time. So now I'm a bit confused.

  10. Hi all, with the looming 26-Sept departure deadline fast approaching, I've been looking at the AoT's website, and it looks like 99 percent of international flights are being cancelled. There are some closer to Thailand that have managed to depart but anything going west seems to be getting cancelled. Based on that, I'm reluctant to spend money on a flight that might not ever take off between now and the 26th. If this continues, how are people supposed to leave?

  11. Mr Stoever's letter certainly seems to have stirred a bit of a TV hornets nest. I'm not sure why some would be so angry over someone asking for an extension on the current amnesty. It actually makes a lot of sense to so under the current circumstances. In fact, I fail to see any downside for either Thailand or tourists by extending the amnesty. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible.

So FYI everyone, I called immigration 1178 hotline today. The staff member said that with US embassy letter will be no problem to get a 30 day extension. No special explanation would be required and she believed no under consideration stamp would be needed, but a straight 30 day stamp would be given (i found the last bit strange). Since I was in BKK she suggested making an appointment at MTT for 1 week before the 26th and she said the 30 days would start from Sept 27. Maybe this one is slightly off topic here, but thought it would be helpful here.

Do you mean people who didn't already get a 30 day extension on their TV? I had a 60 day and extended it in early March already so not sure if that applies to me. Also, I'm not American. Nit sure if the UK embassy is doing the letter thing again. Anyway, thanks for the post. I didn't even know that had a hotline.
