The least you may need is to have either the Thai Chana or Mor Chana apps installed on your phone. AFAIK, both Bangkok's airports were outside the recently rolled back red zones. If your travel is originating in Samut Sakhon, then you will need permission, otherwise I reckon you're good to go. You may make a point of checking in at the amphur or orbortor with jurisdiction over your final domicile in Kalasin within 24-hours of arrival. Otherwise, don't be too surprised if they come looking for you first.
This based on the experiences of my friend, an Udon Thani based businessman who commutes by road to Bangkok twice monthly with delivery stopovers in Buriram, Kalasin on the return trip.
Thanks very much, NanLaew! I was giving up on a response and the flight is this afternoon. I think after reading this I'll give it a go.

Hi all, I have an air ticket booked tomorrow (Friday) from BKK to KK but it looks like the latest travel news is that anyone arriving from BKK to KK will have to report to the police and/or the local health authority. which is gonna be a hassle as I'm due to grab a bus or cab from KK airport to Kalasin... Does anyone have any experience or advice? Thanks in advance!

And they can still stay...just get a form letter from their embassy.
If they give you one. And if not, hope that your flight doesn't get cancelled.

The free visa period will cease ..... it's not rocket science !!
I think some people dont meet the requirements to get one, flights are still being cancelled often enough to cause some worry, and people are apprehensive about jumping on long-haul, multi-stop flights to Covid-wracked destinations. There was also some hope that the government may extend amnesty. For me, although born in the UK, left when I was 6 years old so going back there is not really viable option for me. I've been trying to find flats to rent in southern Spain (where I was before Thailand) but the responses I'm getting back from landlords and agents is that, although happy to rent to me, they wont let me move in until I've stayed in a hotel for 10 days to 2 weeks and have a test. I'm just hoping the visa I've applied for gets approved. The first one I applied for turned out to be a visa agent scam.

Thanks! Very thorough, although I'm little exhausted just reading about the whole ordeal. Your friend deserves a beer after that.

This sounds like a case for Ubon Joe. I'm sure you'll get an answer soon. There is a hotline you can call, I think it's 1178 but never tried it myself

I doubt it but if you hit the ground running tomorrow with an agent, you might be able to swing a medical visa

I don't know any agents in Chiang Mai
You could try this one, it has decent reviews on Google: Chiang Mai Thai Visa Services by Nueng LCMT

You could try for a medical visa, but I'd get on to agent quickly. You probably still have just enough time if you act now.

I actually already paid for a 3-month Volunteer Visa as I was told I had to do it 15 days in advance. I wasn't sure about another extension so decided not to gamble on it. I have no idea if it will be approved or not but I'll find out no later than the 24th, or so I'm told.

Why do you have such a problem with people that don't pay for sex or relationships? I mean. most people on Planet Earth don't... It's not unusual. It is you that is the anomaly, who then complains that others are not like you. Bizarre.

is that the best you can do? using you as an example, are you giving your girlfriend or wife a monthly wage? bought a bike, car? built a house yet? come on be honest
I would conclude that @scuba, the sex-tourist/pat in this thread doesn't understand that everyone Thailand is not a sex tourist. It's a common belief among them. Perhaps degenerates feel better about themselves when they think everyone is a degenerate?

5 months and people are complaining? I worked in Alaska where many of the Mexican and Vietnamese laborers would not "see" their spouses for up to 1 year sometimes.
The "big picture" is that 5 months is just a snippet in time, wait a few more months and things may change. It is all you can do. It is what it is.
Yes, and why shouldn't they?

You're a sad little man who is unable to form relationships with the opposite sex. That's pretty much it.

No I don't want to get into paying them a monthly wage, how will you ever know its genuine when you're paying them? the answer is you don't
Answer: Don't pay people to like you. And if you have to, be more careful. Pretty simple.

No I didn't but a lot are or have you convinced yourself that isn't the case? really touches a nerve with some people, I wonder why
Doesn't touch a never at all. Just view you for what you are.

Touches a nerve with some people, are you saying it doesn't happen and no guys pay a monthly salary?
Of course it happens... You are proof of that. Not everyone is like you.

Yes it is outrageous... so would be hundreds of tourists saying they want to come to meet their girlfriends pretending to be in relationships, what would qualify as a relationship... FB/Line/snapchat/IG conversations?
A line has to be drawn somewhere.
Certificated partnerships is that line.I seriously doubt that "hundreds of tourists" would make any difference whatsoever.

It does baffle me why this gets people's noses in the air. I give my Thai GF a monthly allowance. She is 23 years younger than me.
She gives excellent value in return, and I can say with confidence after 7 years with her she's had far less impact on my wallet than the two Western women I was with in long-term relationships. Can't recall either of them giving me a massage after golf, or cutting my toenails. I can recall them stinging me for half my assets.
Virtually all transactions with women involve cash, irrespective of nationality. Unless one is a bar stool warrior who has so much sex appeal they snared a brewery heiress. But then, I wonder why they are on TV.
"Virtually all transactions with women involve cash".... I rest my case... see earlier comments.

Do you live in a dangerous area or ever had your house robbed

I've always felt safe in Bangkok, and Thailand in general. I lived in Buenos Aires once about 10 years ago, and back then there was loads of theft. It was one of the first things my landlady warned me about when I arrived. In Bangkok I leave my laptop on the table in outdoor coffee shops/bars etc when I go for a slash but if you did that in BA, your stuff would be gone by the time you came back. They wiz by on scooters and snatch it. It's a pity because it's a very beautiful city.
