  1. Too much bull shit here. I read some where some one talking about Thailand being a 3rd world country no matter how many shopping malls you build the society will remain the same for a long time to come.

I now how you feel, but at least I can just turn off and not watch all the corruption and stupid-ness (I think the Thais call it Thai-ness). Blisss......

  2. I went to Australia in Dec 2012 via Hong Kong. I got 2 large duty free bottles in HK, they were about 1L each, may be a bit more even. They saw them and did not bad an eyelid.

They were very serious about smokes though, I can't remember how few you can have, but it was surprisingly small.

There were lots of angry people. mai-pen-rai.....

  3. OK, I will keep my 711 Burger fetish to my self.

Don't know the best burger but had the worst burger at Hard Rock Cafe. It was also probably the most expensive

    I ever ordered

I agree, this is a great example of how not to get return customers with what comes out of this kitchen. Very disappointing at that price point.

If yo make them at home, Tops has some good bread rolls.

  4. What is an expat bar?

A meeting place for secret millionaires, ex-SAS, olympic gold medallists, retired muay-thai champions, etc. rolleyes.gif

yes, so true, it really is.

Hey, what about American Beers on Tap in Bangkok, Does anywhere have a good selection?

  5. The government brought in a minimum teacher salary of over 11,800 baht a month. Well the school pays 7900 baht a month to the teachers but makes them sign the received the full 11,800 on payday telling them it will come in the future. They cannot quit because in their contract if the quit they must pay the school 50,000 baht.

I think that your wife signing a fake document to de-fraud her self of her rights is a bit of a problem here to go complaining about it.

What did you seriously expect when you combined Thais, Money, and Mr Jesus with his imaginary friend ?

  6. This is the real reason why the Thais are disputing the border at the temple.

I've been trying to tell folks on another related thread this fact.

I'm in the business, and was told what was going on 18 months ago.

Taksin and his buddy the Nestle boss are partners in it. Big fat contract worth billions of USD.

Interesting discussion, can you link to the other thread here? Is that allowed?

Or can you send me an email with the link, the search function is really funky and not really useful to be honest.

My mind boggles with how much theft from the " treasury " or Thai moms and pops will go on with this project. One might eve think they will push it through really fast before the next election so some people get the contracts. coffee1.gif

  7. Phuket... never far away from the beach or the shops and 30k you would get the 3 bedrooms and the pool, and lots for the kids to do...rolleyes.gif

I would never ever recommend Phuket, or Koh Samui for you.. The amount of issues you will be exposed to from the hard core corrupt turds their will drive you nuts. Pattaya is also on the list, but there are some sports within an hour of Sin city that are not to bad towards Sattahip & Rayong.

  8. For value for money, it is hard to beat the 20 baht 711 burgers, your choice of Pork or Chicken with tomato source, mustard chilly sauce, mayo, or all of them, with fresh thinly sliced tomatoes, onions, lettuce and sliced cucumber for the Thai touch.

    Bring it on.

    Best drunken munchies in Thailand.

  9. No discount for cash...if anything you'll pay more. Dealers make money on selling cars on credit (often a kickback from the bank) so no benefit for discounting for cash, especially in a sellers' market like Thailand. Why sell you a car for less profit for cash when the next guy in the door will buy it, and buy it with financing.

I found this as well, cash price was the most expensive, not negotiable. The reason is they make most of their profit from the finance company. To rub salt into the wounds, I was also told that if I paid in actual hard cash, which I prefer doing, there would be a cash counting fee which is bloody ridiculous in a cash society like Thailand. We ended up getting the same price as the finance price by the wife pretending to be a teacher at the Uni and then at the last minute changing he deal to cash.

  10. Thanachart Blue Book is free, but their valuations are very simplistic, and also very low-ball (they are an insurance co. after all)

Rebook valuations cost 100 THB, but are more specific and accurate, and are the accepted standard for most dealers:

Thanks for the awesome links. I to find it bizare the little deprecation in Thailand and why total poo bombs are worth so much.

  11. Hello helpful persons here. My white plates on my car are now 5 years old, and the white back ground have pealed off extremely much. They look total crap. The black Thai letters are still there.

    Can I get them replaced?

Will I keep the same numbers?

I see many cars like this now, they are clearly faulty, they started peeling about 2 years ago. Do I have to pay to fix the Gov incompetence?

Do the corrupt Thai road cops want bribes for these?

    Thanks in advance
