    - the fact that the tickets were purchased by someone else doesn't matter. Train tickets don't have a name on them

    - a small rebooking charge may apply; 10% or so.

    - going from memory on this part; I think that rebookings will be accepted until a few hours before departure time of the original ticket, something like 2 - 4 hrs.

    Thanks allane.

This one was purchased from a travel agency and does have some parts of the name on it thats been typed out.  Still I didn't expect a problem other than availability, but it couldn't hurt to do some checking prior :)

A national park fee was introduced but it has emerged this week that most of that went into the hands of influential figures who have robbed hundreds of millions from the state and from the island in protection rackets.

Of course they made millions; Thai entry fee 40baht, foreigner entry fee 200baht (400% more expensive for foreigners)

I am not against dual prices as long as it is reasonable.

I figure i get paid about 4x Thai salary.

And even with that, teachers that show valid school ID rarely have to pay.

    Seems reasonable to me.

But its gotten too expensive (hotel, food, drinks) to go regularly.

I go to the beaches in Rayong and other mainland areas instead.

    Nice beach, 1/3 the cost.

    Nuff said.

  3. I ate at Arno's the other day.  First good steak in 4 years (since arriving in thailand).  Butcher shop, select your cut and amount, and they cook it for you.  Similar to a restaurant in Los Angeles and Las Vegas that I've been to in the past.  Aged and marbled to USDA Prime quality is about 2500baht/kg  (about the same for aged prime quality in the US).  What looked like aged and USDA choice grade was about 1400/kg.  I chose a bone in ribeye, prime.

They dont trim well as is the thai style preference.  So there was quite a bit of fat that needed to be trimmed at the table.  Ruth Chris, Morton's, Delmonico, Nick & Stef, ect similar places in the US would trim the fat and only leave what is necessary for proper grilling or broiling.  My steak was grilled properly, medium rare,  cool at the center.  Salt and Pepper grinder is available at the table. The steak is seasoned lightly with salt and pepper during the grilling, just the way I like it.

Sides are extra, as is in the US steak houses i'm familiar with.  The sauteed mushroom is NOT recommended.  The Caesar salad wasn't bad.   They had a favorite scotch of mine, lagavulin, but it will cost you, and the pour isnt a single dram over a measure.  Three doubles and you can buy the entire bottle for the same price.  plus it will feel like you only had two doubles.

Its a nice, small intimate place.  so reserve early.  Overall, i will repeat, but i'll bring my own scotch/red, thank you.

My extension to stay is dated for July 2017.  I'll see if the school willing let me terminate my extension of stay until Sunday, and only cancel my work permit. They have been nice so far.

Thanks for the heads up on  Savannakhet, Loas.  I've never considered it but will now :D

Also thanks for letting me know about the letter from the school for exiting TL.

Your help, as always is much appreciated! :jap:

  5. Hi my school will soon cancel my visa and WP on a Friday,

but visa run to get a Tourist visa leaves on Sundays.

That means i will incur a 2 day overstay.

    1) Will that be a problem?

    2) Any chance of being blacklisted because of the 2 day overstay?

    3) Any other potential issues with getting a tourist visa from Vientaine or Penang?

    4) Any other places better than the two above (i normally go to these) that is a better alternative?

    Thanks in advance
